  • I love Cobras but my feet are too big to actually drive one...............

  • Nothing like a big block Ford in a car that weighs less than 1000lbs.

  • @TheGT5killer Were you talking about just the rolling chassis weighing 1000 lbs or the complete car? The complete 427 AC Cobra weighs around 2200 lbs.

  • No school like old school.

  • It's videos like these that just KNOW who'll win...

  • I just want one....

  • viper eater

  • Hardly a lash up.

  • Huge power, light weight will thrash any sukiyaki turbo volksaudi job all day long, the Cobra has been doing it 4 decades. Bloody good car car, British lash up with a yanky motor, has allways been a good winer.

  • "OH Cobra!" I think that was everyone else's favorite car there too...

  • fuck dodge gt would wipe alomost any thing off the road

  • @tinkhamtinkham What the fuck is a "dodge gt"?

  • This video keeps getting recommended to me....and I keep watching it. Probably because it's an awesome vid :P

  • the fuck did we think was gonna happen... the only way it would be close is with the 289 Cobra and tnen it may even take the Chrystler on the roadcoarse lol.... prob not but this vid is badass proof of oldschool engeneering and tech.

  • god i love the cobra, but it looks so small?

  • @numberxxi Its a big car in a small package.

  • Why does this seem like the perfect match?

  • @badcolt944 I'll give ya some history of the viper and cobra. The viper was designed to look like a modern-day version of the Cobra and design input on the viper was also provided by Carroll Shelby. It seems like the perfect match... Because, well, it is the perfect match.

  • No chance for fuckin´viper, long live the Cobra!

  • cobra king of the snakes

  • i just love the anilation of the viper by a car 35 years older than it

  • Have to say judging from the reactions of some of these watchers they thought the cobra would be smoked.

  • Sold for 5 millions to rob pratt

  • @sixtiesforever1966 - actually, it's called the Shelby Cobra Super Snake. Carroll wanted to make a personal version of his cobra so he took the base 427 put two paxton superchargers in there and nearly doubled the power to 800 hp. He made just two, and gave one to his friend Bill Cosby. In my opinion, it's the most badass/monstrous/intimidating car ever made.

  • @Ferrariman300 The second one unfortunately was destroyed =(

  • Well, the improved fuel economy came as a result of the gear ratio changes. In 6th gear on the highway the engine is barely operating at 1000rpms now so MPG is now around 25

  • 30 years and still goin strong

  • @nick41324 30??? more than 40! exactly, first cobra's year is 1962 so we r near to 50th anniversary

  • @danieleemilio really now who gives a fuck

  • next time you record a real car like the cobra (ford) get the damn time!

  • I kind of expected to Viper to make it first off the line first then the Cobra taking over, for the win but it was Cobra all the way. I can't tell if that was a real Cobra though.

  • the viper was built because the cobra was such a legendary car... and the cora killed her daughter :D:D

  • Why does someone pay that much for a Viper? Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful car but fuck, it doesn't perform worth piss; especially for having 10 damn cylinders. I rather stick $20,000 in my Thunderbird and keep the remaining $60,000. At least it would win races.

  • @adamlesh The new viper has like 700 hp and a 3.5 0-60 time...

  • @adamlesh

Because most Viper owners don't leave their Vipers stock. My dad has a red '94 RT/10 with several adjustments to crank HP up to 680, plus several changes to the gear ratios to improve fuel economy and boost acceleration, and he only spent about 4 grand doing it. The kind of power you can get out of that V-10 is outstanding for the money needed to upgrade it. Plus, it's about number of sales. Dodge barely sold 2000 a year and they have to make up for the low sales somehow.

  • @F22RaptorSquadron And then if you decide that you want to spend a little more money than normal then you get HUGE performance increases. It's amazing. Especially from a pushrod motor.

  • Spring little Cobra!

This kinda reminds me of the P-51 in reverse. You know, American plane with a British engine, now it’s a British car (originally) with an American engine. We can make some pretty cool stuff when we work together.

  • Can you imagine that cobra with 785 hp . 514 ci motor.

    DID I SAY ROCKET SHIP?

  • @sixtiesforever1966 that wouldnt be that great of a track car actually

  • @sixtiesforever1966 That would be kinda cool... but the car would be damn near undrivable even with a strict limited slip in it... o.o

  • Shelby Cobra=Viper-wiper!

  • Britain beats America!

  • @TheFlyingPineapple It has a britain disign but its american muscle. The design helps it alot because its so light, but made by ford and shelby. How bout "Classic beats modern"?

  • @SoldierOfRock43 originally the car was made by AC cars in Britain. Only later on in it's production did Shelby tune it, creating the Shelby cobra. In 1963, the Mk3 version was designed between AC cars in Britain and Ford in America.

  • @TheFlyingPineapple actually the Cobra is a fully americanized version of the 6banger AC that came from brittain...basically it went from a granny cruiser to an american beast lol

  • both classy and sexy, both in my fav blue with white stripes, both hard core american muscle. wish to one day see both in my driveway someday.. lol this coming from a hardcore JDM / Import lover..Just cant brake my want for the viper or cobra....

  • @pcgamerdave25 You are my favorite person on here. Your like a fat chick exercising. Your not very nice to look at, but at least your doing something about it!!!!!! Bravo!

  • I've been blessed to have riden in a 427 Cobra, I've riden in a 427 tri power Vette and a Hemi SuperBee. The later two felt like pedal cars in comparison to the awesome Cobra.

  • test drive 5

  • So the story goes... that a Cobra once gave birth to a Viper... and ate it. The morel is to respect your roots.

  • Battle Of the Snakes. Pit Viper VS. Cobra.

  • I thought the Viper was supposed to be the hottest shit around!?

  • @eddiesautoworks

If you're a fan of muscle car history, you'd know that no production American made car was ever faster than the little British body/Ford powerplant. called an AC Cobra.

LS6 Chevelles. Hemi cars and a few others probably made as much horsepower, but couldn't best the power to weight ration advantage for the AC Cobra.

The Cobra was the template for the Viper. Carroll Shelby wanted to best his efforts of 35 years prior.

Both are beautiful, but the AC Cobra is the real deal!

  • @Stucifer I know - that was a sarcastic comment. The Cobra (in 289 or 427 S/O trim) would serve the Viper.

  • @Stucifer Actually, the Shelby Daytona Coupe was the template for the Viper.

  • 22Re Toyota sell some of that crack/meth/LSD u got

the world needs to be as fucked as u for peace..................

  • I can beat that Viper in my Toyota truck. After 6 passes I will take it. The Viper will be falling apart by then.

  • the guy in the cobra looks like he's in a go kart..but those cars are redicullously fast

  • My 2 most favourite cars in the universe they are both so beautiful

  • All real race cars are squirrley for the average driver to handle. That is why race drivers are not a dime-a-dozen. A performance machine will look easy to drive from an inexperienced observer, but they require skill and finesse, plus experience to drive well. Even seasoned race drivers can make fatal errors. Remember- Do not street race. Race tracks are somewhat controlled. Who knows when a kid on a bicycle could ride into your path, or a deer jump into your way? if you want to race, track only!

  • @arklat Ya man. Anyone can drive fast. All you do is push the skinny pedal on the right a little further. A good driver knows how fast not to go. On the track, not only is it a controlled environment, but you have the comfort of knowing that everyone else out there knows what they're doing. Bicycles and deer aside, a good 75% of the people you share the road with haven't a fucking clue what they're doing. A few days ago I saw a guy pass someone who was about to make a left turn. Stupid much?

  • The 'Competition Cobras' were nicknamed 'Ferarri Slayers' thats why they were were built and thats what they did.

  • Lol, wow... A car from 1966 smokes a new car with completely new technology. Pretty cool.

  • Why the hell Chrysler decided to use a V10 is still beyond me. It sounds so shitty like a straight 6 for crying out loud. If they wanted to make a really cool car, forget the damn V10 boat anchor and remake an all aluminum modern 426 Hemi! It would have sounded much better and would have sold to the baby boomers. Some fricken idiot dreamed up the V10 bullshit engine and it sold only a fraction that they would have. Someone needs a kick in the pants for that mistake.

  • Sounds like you got a bone to pick with MR. Carrol Shelby.

He was in charge of the Viper project.

    ...Asshole...

  • I will guarentee you that Carrol Shelby did not choose the engine. Read up you retard he came up with the body. Everything else was Chrysler. If it would have been up to him it would have been V8 powered. The sick sounding POS V10 is a pile of shit. Its no more it has been discontinued Thank GOD! Now grow up and kiss my ass

  • He put the okay through on the engine.

the v10 isnt a pile of shit,LAMBO actually used the same v10!!

Grow up? What exactly did i say that was childish?

  • Its a fricken pile of shit. If they wanted to make something decent they should have based it on the original 426 Hemi and made an updated all aluminum version. That would have sold many more then they did going V10. How bout V12 at least make it an even number so it doesn't sound like a sick 6 cylinder Ford truck.

  • The V10 is aluminum and 10 is and even number you dipshit!

Why waste the money trying to remake an old pushrod engine? I hope thats one thing Fiat tries to do,is make an OHC hemi !

Plus,do you know how hot an aluminum cast of the supere-bee would get? It would melt the fiberglass!

  • Even number on each side of the crank YOU DIPSHIT! No matter what the engine, be it a 3 cylinder diesel or 5 cylinder, they never work that well. I own a 3 cylinder in a tractor and it too sounds like shit and vibrates unlike a 4 cylinder version of the same thing. I work with engines all day long you asshole so don't blow smoke up my ass, you know nothing about engines or you wouldn't defend the V10 POS in that car. Its discontinued now so its going bye bye anyway, its about damn time!

  • If the Viper was popular it would have sold more. I know a guy that owns one and after riding in it, it sounds like every bolt is loose in the damn thing. Rattles from everywhere. Air leaks in the cabin also. Its poorly built and rides like shit besides. Then on top of it all you have to listen to what sounds like a 6 cylinder Ford truck with a can on it! Its one insult over the other. Hell try driving a German car sometime then you might understand what power and refinement mean.

  • nice german comment lol

  • If you are out to impress little kids, either buy a Viper or Vette and you will make little boys envy you. If you want something decent that is worth the money spent, look elsewhere. If you need to compesate for a small dick, well then that is your problem, don't make it everyone elses, cause no matter what you can't make up for that. And your comment on the Super-bee, well lets just say there are answers for heat disipation, many things have been learned since then.

  • I hate corvettes, vipers are quick and i agree they arent built well but you need to give respect where respect is due. the viper terrorized allot of german cars! i think your rambling on because your stuck with a POS honda. the engine is the only good thing from the viper. the lamborghini diablo had the same engine!

the viper is the poor mans supercar, and it is just that. cheap and fast and nothing else!

i wouldnt be caught dead in a porche!

give me one german car better than the Saleen S7 TT!

  • Now you are starting to make more sense instead of talking smack. I don't have a Honda anything. I drive Audi. The engine in the Viper sucks. Its a raspy uneven sounding engine that not until you throw more money into it does it finally perform up to its displacement. They could have done so much better with a pushrod V8. Yes Overhead Cam is def. the way to go. Drive an all wheel drive a high horsepower Audi sometime, they handle like a dream, has traction on ice like its dry pavement!

  • Whats wrong with Porshe? If you want a refined rear wheel drive, dude your missin out! The biggest insult with the Viper like I already said is how its put together. Afterwhile you have to get tired of the rattles and cheapness. When you pay that kinda coin for a car where other cars for the same or less coin have much better all around performance, its hard to understand the desire to go fast in a straight line. If all you want is looks, well then choose a Viper or Vette Expect disappontment

  • Porche is ugly and i dont like where the engine is,its too hard to work on and there is too many specialty tools needed to fix one.

The best AWD vehicle i ever drove was my buddys twin turbo WRX that he put about 20k ,american, into.

I agree with you about the corvettes,i drove one for about two hours and the only thing i liked about it was i didnt die ! Vipers are for show.

if i was going to spend a hundred thousand dollars i would buy a supersnke and mod it out with carbon fiber and aluminum.

  • I used to own a WRX STI and modded it also, was a great car but the Germans do it better. The Audi is a super smooth V8 with 5 valves per cylinder. Its amazing and takes to mods well. I agree I love the Mustangs too, lots you can do with them, and they are very well built.

  • He modded his WRX to his own likings and did whatever he wanted to it,it did the quarter mile in low tens. He slaughtered GTRs all day long!

    what AUDI do you have?

  • not stole Shelby bought the English race car work because he dont wan't that this fine english car goes under and so he make with the workers and engineers a new version of the cobra the 427 and you can so soo many but i love only the 427(not replica) have you ever seen the english version? its is a suicide car to small wheels a big engine and a to cheap gearsetting its a car for old men to drive slow when you give in the english version gas..... it's out of control and very dangerous

  • Thats the whole point of the car..... and its fine if your not a retard who actually knows what there doing..

  • holy shit, learn how to speak proper english.

  • did you mean me? sorry my english is very bad but i'm austrian and didn't speak english every day but i give my best to make it better....but how can i make other people understand what i mean when i write in german??

  • haha das ist zutreffend. I spreche nicht gut Deutsch aber Ich versuche. ;) The funny part about your english is the fact that I have seen worse from people who actually live in America on this site lol

  • hey ps3 gamer! stick to playing with your joystick! i shall correct you. ac still makes the cobra. its just not powered by ford any more. as for the viper it was designed like a cobra. big engine lite body.

  • I love the Cobra. best muscle car ever made

  • I agree with morbo but to be honest it isn't really a muscle car it's a British racing car and you can tell because the british ones are called either the 289 or the 427 the shelby cobra is the american muscle car but they just stole the body from an AC. Britain beats America for once!!!

  • Maybe Thats True But iTs Still Awesome

  • Actually the british car was the AC Ace, and it was pretty much a dog. If it's got a v8 in it (either 289 or 427) it's a Shelby, and the chassis and most of the suspension was either built or modified by Shelby and therefore American.

  • the thing I love about the old shelby/cobra's was there was no real rules about what was put into a car. the orignal cobras had 260 v8's. He made a limited number with 429's strictly 1/4 mile stuff. Called them dragon snakes.

  • and behind that the dodge viper or the a12 super bee.

  • He played with the Viper, even hitting his brakes to further rub it in!

  • ahh 427 cobra one of my favorite cars.

  • My favorite car...

    especially when drag racing...

  • drag is stupid, not what the cobra is made for either...

  • my #1 dream car. what are they going for now? 2-3 million?

  • you can build a replica for 45,000$ american, thats about as close to a real cobra the average citizen can hope to owning. plus would you really drive a car you paid 3 million for hard as it was meant to? bit of a waste.

  • yea woohoo 0-60 in 3.2 yea love it.
