@Ryan99901 well done I have his book and red his blog.your right this guy is before his time and his research is unbelievable he must live breath and sleep this stuff but we must thank him for saving us so much time. I find it hard to read half the research papers he reads. Thank UGW for giving us this.
3 weeks ago I started following a low carbohydrate, high fat diet, along with the Rosedale recommendations for protein (approx. 45 grams of protein a day for me, no more than 15 grams at a time 3 or 4 hours apart). The difference between this and unlimited protein, which I'd tried before, is like night and day: Instead of constantly thinking about food, waking up weak and shaky, etc., I have to remind myself to eat half the time. The first week was tough, that was it. Lost 9 lbs w/out trying.
Everyone is so bent out of shape of "how much to eat" of a certain food type. Why not let your body tell you? I used to count calories grams and i'd still feel hungry after i ate (i followed a diet given to my an RD/LD). Today, i'll eat till i'm SATISFIED, not full. If my body craves, meats, i'll eat meats. If it craves a veggie, i'll eat it. I certainly will not eat junk food, sweets or sugar. Our ancestors didnt measure calories, they just stayed active (they didnt go to a gym either).
Why the huge amount of dislikes on this video? Just curious. This guy is light years ahead of anyone in the nutrition world right now. With all the nonsense out there and little/flawed science behind it getting so much attention, I find it pretty shocking that this guy is recieved so negatively. He makes any "nutrition expert" look like a child when it comes to research and knowledge.
Because people are hell bent to consume as much protein as possible so they can be BIG AND BUFF and "strong" and protein is the god of all nutritional intake,
but then again, I'm a vegetarian, so I guess I have a bias...somewhere somehow.
Wait a minute pro-bodybuilders eat a crap load of protein. Jay Cutler gets up in the middle of the night just to take in some protein. They eat well over 200 grams of protein and eat meat several times during the day.
By what I have always heard or read was that you should take in .85g of protein for every pound that you weigh. So if you weigh 100lbs you need 85g of protein a day. Has anyone else heard of this?
@8055boss8055 Heck no thats way to much. you should have about .50g for every pound. If you weight lift maybe .60g. Depending how hard you lift you can slightly go up. Whey is good tho. All Amino acids so you can reduce the amount if your getting all the amino acids.
before watching this i thought he was going to start talking about the protein tryptophan. eating to much meats high in tryptophan can have alot of negative effects on our bodies.. we cant win when it comes to food HA
Our body NEEDS CARBS!!! This is our bodies energy source!!! So eating 30% FATS/ 40% CARBS/ 30% PROTEIN will give your body the energy it needs! I know, I've tried and tested it. I used to eat only a bowl of cereal and a fruit in the morning and grab a cup of coffee for that extra pick me up, but now I throw in a hard boiled egg white and it's what I need to start my day. Try eating some kind of protein, even if it's a 1/2 handful of nuts with a piece of fruit, for a snack, you will feel better!
@kbouyeful its all about balance! but theres no food pyramid that can tell us what to eat. you gotta figure that out for your own body! i'm still looking for a perfect balance!
@kbouyeful Finally one, who got it. Even oatmeal is much nutricious then this cereal crap for breakfast, wich only makes you only more hungry for the day. Its not what we eat, but what is our food quality - i.e. less chemicals and less pre-processing as possible. We are part of nature and part of creation. We need to be more humble.
Sorry...that was a quite confusing video. I felt like he didn't know quite what he was talking about. Only because his answers weren't very clear in regards to her questions. She asked how do we know if we are eating too much protein..he started going off on what to pair ur protein with??? Had my brain foggy by the end lol.
@gledalac1979 or just eat the green part of the water melon which is a cheaper alternative if its in season. Also a good sexual booster. I use to supplement that and done work in the bedroom with me lady.. lol
He said that protein contains nitrogen and when protein converts to glucose it releases nitrogen. That may be true but not all protein will be converted to glucose, I believe this is something to be "taken with a pinch of salt". I would think even a professional bodybuilder would find it hard to eat more than 800 calories of EXCESS protein
Sometimes wanting to know too much about food can be confusing. Just eat what you feel like to eat, and you'll be fine. I am not talking about of course about compulsive overeating or junk food.
Protein is measured in grams so if you convert it to pounds. It's 1lb=453grams. No one eats that much protein. For those that are confused. He also said 1-1 1/4 pound of meat is ok a day if training. Meat is weighed in ounces so that about 16-20 ounces of meat. I think you guys should have looked up these conversions before calling this man or his statements retarded.
@Jrod62132 I eat about a pound a day regardless of exercise. I have no meat related issues. I think some people are just genetically adapted to eating this way.
OMG this is retarded. You will be full way before it becomes toxic and become a hazard to you. Anything in excess to the body will be toxic for you even water. They are just over-blowing a situation so they could have something to talk about. lol. The ideal diet everyone should have is eat clean meat, eat good fats (including saturated) and keep carbs under 50 to 100 grams. Also stay away from process garbage. I would say Fats 50 Protein 40 Carbs 10/ to none.
@aRawLifeste You should check out diets that put you in ketosis if you are trying to lose weight but you have to have a little mental toughness at first. I been working out & researching for years so as long as you are working out I guess your diet wont hurt you much but you will be losing muscle(causing flabs) and if I were to guess those 32lbs you lost from that diet was mostly water weight. You will need some protein and also you can gain weight from fruits as well.Carbs should come from vegs
Once again I was on board with what he was saying, until he says that its uncommon to be eating too much protein. You say that we probably are not eating too much protein and then that we should limit it to 1 pound a day. So the sausage and/bacon your eating for breakfast, the chicken or hamburger your eating for lunch, and that steak and/or pork chop your eating for dinner aren't exceeding one pound possibly two???
Eeee. Idk something about this man doesn't seem 100% credible

Meat = 22%-25% protein; 1g protein = 4 cal.
He says 600 cal of protein is max. = 150g (pure) protein
Since meat is around 1/4 protein, results in 600g meat (1.322 lbs).
So i guess he sets the limit at one pound just to be in the safe zone.
(He said the liver tops out at 800 cal of protein = 800g meat)
I guess you should decide for yourselves if you have enough (or excess)
protein.
Keep also in mind that not just the liver has a say in the protein vs. ammonia
game.
