Hey man, that was great. I especially liked your Cosby comments. I was digging awhile back and picked up a Cosby Show LP with Grover Washington Jr., a fave of mine. Also, I wanted to know where a fellow vinyl head could cop a T-shirt like yours. Too dope! Cheers!
@dereckvon Yeah, a lot of the "youngins" today have no idea what real music is about or where it came. I kind of feel one of the purposes of the VC is for us to educate them lol. Let them know NE YO and Rhianna (or however you spell her name) is not what R&B is really about lol. But you know..it's music right? So to each his own.
Great to hear from you D man! CANT WAIT TO GET YOUR LP!!!!!
Joss Stone is from near where i live. There's a venue here called 'mama stones', its her Mum's venue. Its a shame though because the venue its ridiculously priced, you have to pay for a table there, they wont put on bands who are heavy in anyway. Her mum like uses her daughters fame to big herself up. Its a shame really. What is 'SEAL' like? I saw an LP in a shop for £1.50 still in the shrink wrap. Cheers. Joe.
@Joespencer92 Seal in incredible. I think he is one of those artist that people LOVE or HATE. Songs I suggest checking out...Killers, Crazy, Touch, Let Me Roll, Don't Cry, Dream In Metaphors, Just like you said, and Loves Divine. That will give you a good feel for who is. Cool story about Josh. Have you ever met her?
@mrhoffame Well in that case if its there when i am next in i shall check out the LP, its super cheap too so will be worth it regardless. Her name is actually pronounced 'Joss'. 'Josh' is a boys name lol im not sure if its a common name over in the US. I havent ever met her no, her music isnt really my cup of tea, she makes some great music though i have to admire her for that. Cheers. Joe.
@Joespencer92 Dude, are you always on your computer? You answer in like 10 seconds of every messsage I send no matter what time of day lol? Just can't get enought of the vc huh? lol
@mrhoffame yeah i am on my computer most of the time. Ive not long been back from work so i went straight on. Well im just so commited you see ;) being up at half 12 in the morning researching records and watching videos dedication ;) i cant get enough
Mr Hall of Fame, you simply outdid yourself. The Mrs and I were singing through this entire video. You are such a class act my friend. Your collection is diverse and stellar. You are of course the man! Thanks for jumping in and taking the time! ~ mphsVinylJim & the Mrs
@mphsVinylJim LOL Thanks my friend. I'm sure you gusy will be together for many, many years to come so I wanted make sure i did my part to keep the magic going for ya lol. Take care my friend!
great george michael pick!he is a crooner....lives in dallas part time, im still hoping to meet him someday!great commodores too! sam cooke "you send me" ahh yeah!
sos, 'tell me...' is the jam!! absolutely duke ellington/john coltrane song is romantic. you're right, bill cosby did a great job with subtle introductions. love simply red, i don't know the izaak's song; wow, sam cook too. brandon, excellent choices! you sure know how to lay on the jams.
It's funny u picked Sade and the Tcha picked Maxwell's 1st album. Both of those artists are connected cause members of Sade worked on Maxwell's Album. Sweetback actually or Matthew Stuart.
What I love about the "The Last American Virgin" soundtrack is that there are songs on that album and in that film that were well known, you know? Unlike most soundtracks from the era.
I would of thought you were gonna show some AC/DC here ;)
@vinylated I guess the song Ride On by AC/DC could be considered a bit romantic lol You are right about that LA Virgin Sdtk. I mean Lionel, Journey (open arms), REO (keep on lovin' you)...that soundtrack was 80's love heaven. Even the upbeat stuff like the Cars Shake It up and ..."I know what boys like..I know what guys wants"...lol. That movie was my introduction to The Waitresses too lol
@mrhoffame Yeah, with AC/DC "Let me put my love into you" would be of been a good one. But the knife references? I don't know lol.
I think we just have to be honest here... "I can't get over loving you" by Ray Parker Jr is the winner here. You got to stalk or obsess over the one you LOVE lol. You know that!! ;)
Said it before and I'll say it again, we're too alike hehe. Be seeing you real soon bruv!
@vinylated LOL I agree. That Ray Parker song is kind of like Every Breath You Take by the Police. It sounds and feels romantic but when you listen to the lyrics you start to understand they are totally psycho. I love that part line at the end of the Ray Parker jr song where throughout the song he says "I still can't get over lovin' you" , but at the end he throws in " I still can't get over...I ain't through lovin' you". That is creepy lol
@mrhoffame Imagine... a "Better off Dead" scenario, okay? You've got the girl alone in the restaurant, instead of breaking out the Sax you excuse yourself to put on that record. You sit down, say nothing and stare longingly into her eyes. I bet you any money by the end of the night you'd realise the only date you went on was one with YOURSELF hahaha. Poor Ray, still the man had a winning smile ;)
You're a very cool guy, know and love about music so you won a new sub!! =D
