  • When you're ONE of the FIRST to do something, you're an innovator, it doesn't mean you're the best at it... you think Henry Ford built the BEST cars ever? Hell no. But he laid the groundwork for others to come along and improve on his design. It's a helluvalot easier to tweak someone's design then to start from a blank page.

Same with Grandmaster Flash, Grandwizard Theodore & Kool Herc. They may not be the best, but without them, when would scratching have started? They are the originators!

  • What's the name of the track playing at 2:35 :D

  • @RasserRifle the 45 king - number 900

    /watch?v=axJpBlxW6n0

  • @RasserRifle

He is in the middle of a transition at 2:35 ... there is more than one song playing

  • if you are trying to diss grandmaster flash you clearly just...wow...fuck it.

  • is that a rane ttm57 i see? serato ftw

  • @tigersun8 is a Rane Empath Blue!

  • YOU ARE ALL IDIOTS!!! in the beggining of the video it says traktor scratch. if any of you were smart or a dj or knew anything about djing u would know those arent vinyl or timecoded vinyl.

    ITS A TRAKTOR SCRATCH RECORD!

  • @loplips Traktor Scratch Record is a timecoded vinyl genius

  • @loplips which actually is timecoded vinyl .... x

  • Funny thing is people say that he can't scratch all of the time when he has many different methods mastered. Its just.not.his.style. he's hip-hop. Classic. That's how he should be.

  • HE'S NOT GOOD ON SCRATCHIN...

  • @jrDJREMIX -- he started it...

  • @jrDJREMIX first of all when u get to your late 50's i wanna see how good u will be!!!!! secondly although theodore was the first to invent scratching flash developed many of the patterns we take for granted. and what i say to people is this....if you cant do the basic's good how the hell u gonna be able to do flutters or flares (all the technical stuff) you hear and see everyone doing now (which gets boring cos everybody copies everybody else) its up to the new generation to keep inventing!

  • @jrDJREMIX ok........

  • Grandmaster Flash kills vinyl and digital. most of the haters cant do either

  • what's the song from 2:55 to final? that beat

  • @mainilesus09 Sounds like '900 Number' by Mark the 45 King.

  • @mainilesus09 Sounds like '900 Number' by Mark the 45 King.

  • these are ok aslong as you have put in your leg work at some point. You cant just download everything and think you are the shit. You gotta have done some serious Digging at some point to get a pass on these.

    Keep Digging.

  • Flash is a vegen...

  • Flash has been oerforming since the 70s... Before most on here were flangela.

  • Kinda underwhelming, you know ?

  • You would think after djing for as long as he has, he would be alot better then this.

  • @kidworm exactly what I was thinking

  • @MrDjASG lets see you do better

  • He don't age

  • Why would you hate him for using digital vinyl?

What sucks is that he uses a mac.

  • People are hating on him for not using real vinyl? GOOGLE GRANDMASTER FLASH!!!

  • from 2:35 it's the 45 King "the 900 number". but anybody knows where the sax-sample does come from?

  • @cakebetrieb I think it's 'It's Just Begun' by 'The Jimmy Castor Bunch'

  • @TonyHStanley nope...its "unwind yourself" by Marva Whitney

  • @jOARhannes Oh yeah - I was on about the saxophone part @ 40 seconds.Didn't think about the saxophone bit in 'The 900 Number'

  • whats the name of the song starting a 2:35 (was used by so many people, also beastie boys...)

  • he needs to eat like everyone else on this fucking planet, NI pays him to use its stuff and he uses that like you haters won't ever be able to

  • @theyoungmc Word.

  • Digital is basically where the market is heading, it's easier to carry around, and is much less expensive in the long run. No offense to hardcore Vinyl supporters, I love vinyl myself, but hating on someone for making the switch? That is just ignorant.

  • To the people hating on him for using traktor, give him vinyl and he'll be able to do the same thing. Don't make his old ass carry around crates of records!

  • He still uses vinyl with Traktoe scratch. The tunes are played through the vinyl using the laptop. He only needs to Traktor Vinyl & it streams from his hard drive

  • why we still dont use cassets and walkmans ?

so stfu u "REAL VINYL" Soldier

    want a time machine ?

  • why the hell is everyone havin a dig at him for using a laptop instead of vinyl he is a dj pioneer, he's classic who cares what he's using he's changing with the times, he's keeping it real with his music even if you think he isnt with his equipment.

  • and why you leave o comment here on youtube, why don't you write a mail letter and send him to his home address..

  • wtf are you on about why would i send him a letter when my comment is clearly directed at ppl slating him on here...

  • writing a letter is classic, no?

so why are you using the technology and internet to communicate?

  • yeh ay hes like one of if not the first proper scratchers

  • @durrwin hahaha, yea u r right. what do people expect? for him to still be using his tape decks from the 80s?!? come the fuck on and stop hating for fun. at least find something meaninful to hate about if you are going to do it. hating on him having state of the art equipment is retarded and ignorant.

  • he definitely still uses real vinyl but i bet traktor paid him a bunch to come do a demo with their shit

  • Whats the song at 2:35?

  • WORSE TECH SUPPORT EVER.

They have more videos on how it works then how to set it up which is bullshit. Better have a good battery on your cell phone because it takes for ever to talk to someone they are very sorry.

  • what's the song playing with the 45 king at 2.37 please ??

  • "The 900 number"

  • Think !! If your that OLD would you carry round 100+ Vinyls lol

Everything is still the same .. what you think

  • what is the song of 40 second please

  • It's Just Begun by the Jimmy Castor Bunch

  • im wondering how a man like that could sit there and switchout to using a computer program instead of keeping it real using records .wtf he played vinyl for like almost 30 yrs .i guess to each his own

  • still using vinyl but theyre time coded

  • they had to take out the ending....

  • haha from 1:24 to 1:27 it looks like he's masturbating XDD

  • Why was he flipping the timecode vinyl?

Its the same on both sides.

  • Probably just a habit, so it still kinda feels like he is changing records or flipping to the other side that has another song or whatnot, even though it is timecode and not a regular record.

I actually do it sometimes as well, just the nature of a vinyl dj.

  • Ah right, thought so,

I did see a video where he was talking about how he found himself turning around to find the next record over and over and not forgetting just to load it on the laptop.

I personally just came from the world of the MEP-7000 and Cdj-1000's to buying traktor and two technics tables, I like it so much more. 100 times cooler and responsive to scratching.

  • Yea its great, i love timecode vinyl....really fun to play around with. I just upgraded / traded my Torq for Traktor Scratch pro. Can't wait for it to arrive.

  • Oh yeah its great.

Got mine on thursday, its really great, rock solid program.

  • Actually correction on my part cause i recently figured it out after traktor scratch arrived. The real reason why he flips it. Is because there is a option where if you flip and start the record at the beginning, it will load and start the next song in your collection.

So technically if you have a prepared set, you don't really need to touch your computer to load tracks. Just flip like real vinyl and it will actually do something.

  • i think its cause he has cue lines on the other side of the record

  • Ah, Thumbs up dude, I think your right there.

Thanks by the way that actually is a good idea too

  • Side A is a 15min track with leadin and sum grooves @ the end which can be used for crate scrolling....side b 17 min with leadin and no crate-scrolling-grooves @ the end!

    Greetz

    Strat

  • Flipping the vinyl with traktor can also load the next track if you are using a playlist or playing off a setlist.

  • You all deaf? That was rubbish. And how much do you get for a soul these days? And a bit like a boxing match but only one black fella :-) etc. etc. Bring it on.

  • what's the song @ 2:39?

  • "The 900 Number" by The 45 king

  • The 45 King sampled the sax hook from Marva Whitney's 'Unwind Yourself'. The original version is a lot faster.

  • True Legend.

  • I was there. How the fuck did I miss Flash?

  • it's sin

  • so simply and fast. :-D

  • Yo man! Great video - That is all video or is longer? Can you upload me and send or put link on the describe this movie?Man dope Flash is master Coll:)

  • Timing & Great Music Selection =

    A World Class DJ.

Can you stop the man 1:27-2:20

  • Yep man, thats was great)

  • That was GREAT!!

  • track ID at 1:36 ???

  • I don't get why he has to flip the record. Can anyone explain.

  • different groove and time codes, maybe 45/33? but yeh still some sick cutting would ove to use tracktor no money tho hehe

  • It tells the software to load the next song in the playlist

  • because thats easier then pressing a button???

  • well you can change from 45 to 33 on the comp so thats not it, but I am pretty sure one side is 10 minutes and one side is 15 minutes, so It might be that he has a 15 minute track with a bunch of different shit that he wants to use lol Idk or it could be it changes the next song lol idk

  • Back in the days i studied & learned

everything I know about hip hop style

djing from the Grand master Flash

  • i love this oldschool-music...and mixing thismusic is great!

  • me 2

  • whats the names of the songs?

  • Pleasure - Joyous

    Jimmy Castor - Just begun

    CHuck Brown - Bustin Loose

don't remmeber the last one offhand. its been years since i heard it.

  • Last 2 songs :

Jimmy Bo Horne -- Get Happy

    Mark 45 king -- 900 number

  • He is using his mixer from rane.

  • yes, it's the empath in blue...i'm just ondering why he's not using the grandmaster flash-version of it?^^

  • Now that's what I'm talking about..

  • does anyone know what kind of mixer he is using?

  • it's a Rane Empath mixer. It's funny he's got a 'signature' model from them, but he's not using it.

  • He is one of the original block rockers fuck technical scratching, this is it man.

  • Flipping the record, tells the software to load next track from the playlist. It's embedded in the timecode on the vinyl. So you can control Traktor doing different stuff to the vinyl....

  • unbelievable

  • serato don't have that function right?

  • ascratch-function? it does, but traktor scratch seems to be better, but i'm no expert

  • whats the program on the computer called?

  • traktor scratch by native instruments

  • If he is using Traktor, why does he keep on Flipping the record?

  • wow
