I completely understand how many of these students feel. We've been taught throughout our whole lives that to make a future for ourselves we had to go to college. Exasperation and fear can creep up quickly when you think you won't that "future". That's how I felt when one of my big scholarships fell due to "lack of funds". Fortunately for me I have a brain of my own and not continuing college till I have solid cash in my hands to afford it, getting loans is like asking to be slave.

You cannot have a successful society with just money and no intellect. Colleges take students money and spend it on nonsense like tenure which IMO is absolutely corrupt. Get rid of sport scholarships, tenure, and focus more on math and science and less on business.
@A08041988 why should colleges give students cash just because they can hit a baseball or shoot hoops? Colleges are ACADEMIC institutions. Why not just give scholarships for knowing how to ride a bicycle or play video games? I've had many professors with tenure and all they care about is MONEY and couldn't give a rats behind about their students. Tenure is a security blanket, nothing else. I also think there should be even stricter price limits on colleges that specialize in engineering.
College is not a "private business". It is subsidized by tax payers and they get handouts on top of that for each student. This subsidy artificially makes prices inflate at 3 times the national average. However, that doesn't mean these students have the correct argument. They want others to pay the price no matter if universities are ripping the government and taxpayers off! They should cut almost all aid to universities and let the market competition lower prices.

I completely understand how many of these students feel. We've been taught throughout our whole lives that to make a future for ourselves we had to go to college. Exasperation and fear can creep up quickly when you think you won't that "future". That's how I felt when one of my big scholarships fell due to "lack of funds". Fortunately for me I have a brain of my own and not continuing college till I have solid cash in my hands to afford it, getting loans is like asking to be slave.

Why not just give scholarships for knowing how to ride a bicycle or play video games? College is not a "private business". It is subsidized by tax payers and they get handouts on top of that for each student. This subsidy artificially makes prices inflate at 3 times the national average. However, that doesn't mean these students have the correct argument. They want others to pay the price no matter if universities are ripping the government and taxpayers off! They should cut almost all aid to universities and let the market competition lower prices.
