  • wanker!hes never been a mod!fag

  • Sting Dancing! Laughable. Ask REAL Mods from the 60's how we danced! And that suit! Oh My God! We would not have been caught dead wearing a scruffy parka or wandering down Carnaby Street! They were Art Mods and nothing to do with the Real McCoy who bought their suits, hand-made from east end Jewish tailors. LOL.

  • Erm... I clicked on this because I assumed it would be the right music for the clip. It wasn't.

  • Sting a Nazi? His real name is Herr Wolfgang Steiner. Fact.

  • boy....you've got some good moves there gordie!

  • go visit the quadrophenia collection at Littledean jail UK open from April 01st till end of the October me

  • If someone danced like that now i think the correct word for them would be Gay

  • I tried this scene with the Showstoppers' - Ain't nothing but a houseparty...works a treat!

  • There's one tiny detail wrong with this clip - in the very first shot they show a foot encased in stiletto heel - mod girls would NEVER have worn those!

  • STING SHIT !!!

  • Can any one please tell me who sings this Track Please..??

    Thanks in Advance.

  • @yaniska100

The Track is by the High Numbers ( the band changed their name to The Who)

  • @yaniska100 Roger Daltrey of The Who, formerly in The High Numbers

  • @yaniska100 the who

  • But i must add i do love this film entirely, its jus funny to watch Sting's attempt! =P

  • The director spoke in an interview about the camera angles, he said Sting was such a shit dancer, they only filmed his top half, and even then it wasn't great...

  • Wasn't Sting a bit old for this part? Bad casting IMO - spoiled one of my fave flicks lol!

  • @royayersrules Sting was in his late 20's...I think he was damn good...although his best performance was in 1982's "Brimstone and Treacle" (which some kind soul recently uploaded on Youtube) Terrific, dark film. Check it out.

  • @KellyGreen5555 Most Mods were 15-18 year old kids. At the time this was filmed Billy Idol would have made a better Face, provided he didn't bring King Rocker to the party. Maybe even Stuart Goddard (Adam Ant). Let's face it , he didn't have too many lines, just had to do that silly eyebrow thing and try to look cool and mean!

  • @royayersrules How would Billy Idol or rather William Michael Broad have made a better Face? Neither of them could dance to Mod music, which is rnb type or soul music, nor can Stuart. Sting, no offense, just looks unconvincing and phony.

  • I come from Denmark (And don't you guys say, that you can't be a Mod if you aint from Britain, because I see a danish flag on a scooter, riding next to Sting!) and I'm a modern mod, so to say. Don't have a old Vespa, but I have a new LX50 though. But man, I really love Britain and the mod culture. Fuck all the gangsta shit, this is so much better.

  • @Shnishnugar I'm riding LX50 in Poland and love MODS as well ;)

  • hahaha, what a cunt

  • i read in phil daniels auto-biog that sting was terrible at riding that scooter

  • I feel like that on me GT.

  • fuck yea!

  • Night train

  • He was dancing to JB

  • so many memories, long live mod

  • so where the hell does art come into things like this, I wasn't even born then but it seems like when any movie comes out trying to depict a scene or a genre or movement, its usually too late, it usually as mentioned above gives the bridge & tunnel crew something live to copy down to the funny ear-rings, its like sometimes the art of movie in this capacity is just a big turd on something that actually means something to some! am i making sense, damn I'm drunk!

  • the art of a movie is wank mate this movie depicts of the mods not art mods understand

  • DAVEHOWARD 22 - What i meant was this...in 1978 there was an underground mod scene growing...it was cool and credible. In 79 Quadrophenia came out and suddenly there's little Mods running about shouting we are the mods, and copying scenes they's seen in the film. Suddenly the credibility dissapeared, and so to did everything connected with Mod (Except Paul Weller!). Obviously, it didn't dissappear, it just went back underground..

  • you can be whatever you like and sod what people think !

  • cheers mate its just a want t follow in ma dads footsteps part frm being locked up then agen it comes wid da culture dunit

  • is it possible fr an 18/19 yr old to be a mod in this day nd age comments back please

  • @fukmegurlz I'm afraid not, people are individual these days. In the sixties, the fashions came in weekly and there wasn't a huge range, so it just won't happen today. You have to move on. Can't resurrect the sixties, mate.

  • @fukmegurlz

I'm 17 and a Mod but I get slagged by my mates but who gives a fuck! Its a bit unusual to see a boy in a suit in a council estate in Edinburgh in the 21st century, but who cares.

  • @samjordan1795 im 14 and a mod i have zoot suits and a parka all that fred perry, ben sherman, your 17 so do you have a scooter im geting one when im 16.... my mates dont cera that im a mod as most of them are mods too and the over ones who are not just dont cerar my girlfrends step dad has a mod bar/club in london its good

  • @samjordan1795 im also 17, a modette and same here i get slagged by my mates all the time, i just dont care anymore

  • @samjordan1795 DAMN, man! i tip my hat to you

  • @samjordan1795 You'll get more women than other blokes because most women are intrigued by men with individuality and the balls to go against the flow.

  • @samjordan1795 Im from Edinburgh masel. You got a scooter?

  • 66 STYLIST..The film did,nt do nothing for TRUE MODS?. What the original 60,s crowd? They,d have been in there 40,s,50,s when this came out. It did get people who wern,t even born then into mod culture, almost single handedly as i remember, and name another film thats influenced a music movement..More into punk meself, dont mind the who, small faces mind.

  • i am 49 now and was part of the mod revival in 1979 ! yeah the film inspired me and i still own a vespa and i consider myself a SCOOTERIST with a big mod background ! the SCENE is as big as ever now and there are many young mods come to the weekend rallies !

  • if you wanna go deeper into it ,then yeh,but its still a film about mod culture obviously

  • Quadrophenia its not about Mods, its about adolescence, its about be something in life, its about dreams that broke slowly and crash into reality.

its about any generation of teens to come.

    its about the life itself.

  • @moonbonham1 I agree, the whole moral of the story is the exact opposite of a celebration of the Mod lifestyle. I think the moral of the story is that all of the cliques and fashions of our adolescence seem so important at the time, but what we wear and who we associate ourselves with is, in the end, irrelevant. We are all unique individuals, and we need to embrace the freedom to be more than a label.

  • i was expecting green onions or louie louie...from the film... shame lol

  • Quadrophenia was and always will be a shite film that did NOTHING for the true Mods. It just meant you get a lot of fools who think they're Mods, because they copy what the film says...Totally missing the point of Mod completely.

  • You are stuck in the past my friend. Move on

  • This isnt the song in the movie!!

  • yeah this cunt dances as bad as he sings, fuck off back to that shit band your in u fucking pigs trotter

  • well i dont really like mods but this movie is great ...rockers for ever

  • Ahh Johnny foreigner..Not bothered about sting, couldnt give a crap about the bloke, you must want him bad,as you are holding a candle to this bloke! My point was,he was a crap dancer and actorin the film Quad...When he is on stage still got no idea, seen The Police back in 79, fuckin shite..

  • tubby61 and

SpeedTriple59: probably you haven't seen much of Sting and probably again you cannot think of somebody acting AS IF he had to dance in a certain way. If you'd seen S in his concerts you'd probably notice that he's got rythm in his joints and bones. He moves perfectly well with the music. Very probably the role in the movie required he be stiff like a "mean guy"... Think a bit more. It's good...

  • filmed at the royalty in southgate remember when they were filming it was the talk of the town as one of our mates was an xtra and got 15 quid and was telling us all about it

  • What a mop head sting could not and still cant dance, what a tool..

  • tool

  • superbe musique et superbe scène d'un film culte

  • dunno who taught sting to dance but he's shit some face!!!!

  • the scene sort of works better with the right track,... The Kingsmen as I remember.

  • Yeah it was lol Louie Louie

  • The scene does indeed work better with the original track- but my videos are personal interpretations This is why I call it Quadraphenia and not Quadrephenia - this track is ironic and used in justaposition to iconic, the iconic (ironic) status of a Face , thus here Sting is the antithesis of an actual face

  • @MojoRebel do u eva go out

  • @MojoRebel Brilliant response

  • @selfselfself thanyou - it is nice to see that some people recognise , the humour and wit of some of my vids

  • @MojoRebel I am in juxtaposition of your spelling of justaposition. I was the drummer at a couple of high numbers gigs in Harrow in '64 - now retired and blissfully anonymous.................great post, thanx

  • what a total berk...

  • Nah, they couldve picked a better part. Sting only got chosen because of his popularity at the time. He kind of kills the atmosphere for me, to be honest.

  • Comment removed

  • He wasn't that popular then. The Police have hardly released their first album by then.

Don't forget, the film was produced in 1979.

  • BELL BOY!!!!

  • more like bell end

  • i didnt know that was Sting, i just thought it looked a lot like him, lol.

  • Sting what a COCK! Ok with the police. Grows a massive ego. Goes solo absolute shite not one good track in over 20 years! Then his ego has to give in and goes back to the police! I fucking hate him. If I saw him on the street I would be hard pushed not to abuse him! Hes definately a wanker in new york! Desert rose la de da de! The marvellous WHO sure did pick the right person to play a cunt!

    Wheres all the talent gone!

  • well, "Shape of my heart" in the movie leon the proffessional was awesome if you ask me..

  • Brilliant Film :O!

  • STING IS FUCKING SHIBANG!!!!

    DON'T DIS!!!!

    EVER!!!!

    sorry bout that

got a bit carried away there

  • I got love if you want it by the kinks? but with roger daltrey singin different lyrics about a charater named aceface played by sting....

  • I am the FACE!!!!

    Wink Jones

  • ahhhh..Mr. Sumpter...you did well, lad!

  • yeah but people bein' rich don't mean they cool.

gene simmons is worth a billion n' a half. and hes a fuckin' cunt.

so yeah. the formula don't apply to everyone .

but i do agree, sting is rather cool

  • Work it Sting! <3

  • Sting is a Megacity Slickster - Love it !

  • i'm 13, i''ve never watched ALL of this film. Was sting a real guy?

  • No. sting has never been and never will be a real guy.

  • sting is a lie

  • lol! I think sting's music is top notch but this comment cracks me up!

  • anyone who can write 'Invisible Sun' is fucking ACE in my books

  • Sting was a giant bee who followed the British troops to Waterloo to protect them. Later he retired to a cozy little bungalow in North Hempfordshire, just south of Twickenham. He developed his own brand of cider, and lived a peaceful life.

  • what a blithering idiot !

  • you're totally wrong about the dancing bruv. I was an original 60's mod and can tell you that he.s makin a pretty good job of one of the main dances of that time. Mod dancing was not athletic ( the clothes cost too much) - it was very controlled and precise - seeing Sting do those moves when I first saw Quadrophenia really brought that dance and some wild nights flooding back.Mod has had so many dodgy revivals your all mixed p about what it was like

  • Luv the film but Sting?

Anyone going to Secret Affair @ The Camden Centre, Kings X, May 30th?

  • Sting danced like a thunderbird puppet,he is wooden as fuck, what a twat he was,i knew a northern mod on location sting could not ride the vespa , neede loads of practise..geek

  • hi!!

does someon know the name of sting in the film? I know that the first letters are G.S. but not the name... thanks!!

  • GS is the model of his scooter son...

"My jacket's gonna be cut and slim and checked,

Maybe a touch of seersucker, with an open neck.

I ride a G.S. scooter with my hair cut neat,

I wear my wartime coat in the wind and sleet."

  • Come hit me baby one more time!

    dateherwow (.com)

  • It was a nice try but Sting was not a real 'face' ever. The guys that really were simply dont care anymore!

  • CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT SONG IS PLAYED AT 00:18 IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE? (NOT THE SONG ON THIS VIDEO, THE SONG THAT'S PLAYED ON THE FILM) ? Help would be appreciated :) please reply!

  • Its Louie, Louie I think the group were the Kingsman

  • thankyou

  • its a fab film

  • Secret Affair play the Camden Centre, Kings X, May 30th 2009.

  • Sting sooo cool I would love to watch this movie!

  • its a fab film

  • dios q mítico!!!!!

  • Let's face it, nice to look back, but now what happens to us Mods. Grandads and having rows. Not me, I'M OFF TO WHERE THE WOMEN ARE STILL WORKING.

  • LOL I love Sting but that's some awful dancing there.

  • In the past 5 years teens have obsessed about 1980's music and fashion. Britain in the 60's had equally vibrant music and fashion.

  • belfast scooter boys we luv it

  • Good for you lad! I had a scooter that went at 80 miles an hour.

  • Was this the song playing in the movie ? I thought it was Louie Louie, followed by one of the first stage dives ever (sort of)

  • It was in the club, if I remember correctly. Louie Louie was one of the songs playing, yeah. Song's called "I'm the Face," good luck finding it. :(

  • The song is called "I'm the Face," by the Who when they were called the High Numbers. I think it's on the 30 years of maximum r&b album/compilation, and i found it pretty easy when i got it.

  • It's also on the Original Movie Soundtrack of Quarophenia. Well worth searching for as it's got some cool northern soul cuts of the era as well. I also have it on the Thirty Years Of Maximum R&B Sampler. It was a single disc promo only but pops up on ebay every now and then.

  • No Louie Louie was frist played at the West End Club called the 'dOWN sTAIRS' AT THE BACK OF sHAFBURY Avenue. sURLY YOU REMEBER ME, i was the one looking smart with a three button bum freezer, and a slim tie.

  • omg what is this song?!

  • "I'm the Face"

  • Sting is the fucking master

  • man... Who would have thought the Face would be having tantric sex all the time all these years later? haha

  • Sting is awesome.

  • why would people who hate sting so much want to watch this video. i never understand people who leave comments on things they dislike. why watch the vid???

  • As much as i understand you..

the answer is: because the can.

You won't stop answering people just because _you_ don't like the answers.

    Accept it.

  • well that told me, 'bender'

  • sTing is a conceited twonk.

  • whoever said dat solo sting beats the police need to get their head checked

  • lol, yeah

  • Ace, you ARE the face...

  • Please note the letters on Ace Face's wind deflector on his Vespa - GS -Gordon Sumner AKA Sting, AKA boring twat.

  • (...and I bet he looks even more stupid in it now than ghe did then)

  • I love this film! Remember seeing it with my mates and 3 blokes we knew & fancied came in. The only 3 seats left were behind us: result! Have to say I hated Sting in this, but am reassured by my brother-in-law that there were characters like his in the 60s - right!

Do we all agree Ms Ash looks much better without the pout - nothing £5m can't rectify now!

  • Love the movie, stink was uglier than, compared as now. WoW what the knife can do.

  • 67' sleeps his head macheties his bed

  • sick tune!!

dont know bout gordons dancin tho...

    Liverpool Mods!!

  • *sighs* Gringo dancing

  • shame Sting is just as crap here as he is everywhere else.

  • solo sting beats sting in the police.

  • which is the title of this song??

  • im the face

  • I'm the Face done in 1964 by a group called the High Numbers, later known as The Who!

  • sting's career = all downhill from this point onwards :P

  • Except for...you know..Reggatta de Blanc coming out the same year as this movie (Message in a Bottle, Can't Stand Losing You).

  • for someone whos career went down hill after this ,he didnt do so bad at all

  • Twas a joke. Hence the :P

  • ACE FACE is a bill boy!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think you'll find that's "Bell Boy"

  • Go on Sting lad! HA HA

  • Sting has a way of lighting up a room!

  • I'm too sexy for my scooter. =)

  • musica solo para hombres

  • Thanks! I've been telling my friends about this for years and now I can show them. It's the coolest twist ever!

  • This is good but nowhere near as good as Sting 4 Nolte - I can't believe Sting is doing this - it's great: stingfornolte com

  • Thats brilliant. Exactly what i was looking for. after me and a few mate were talking about this bit and doign this dance int he club. CLASS!

  • Yes, Sting IS THE FACE! Until we find out he's the BELLBOY, of course.

  • He's named after a wasp asre !!

  • Sting is so sexy!
