You're playing the barre chords like power chords...you're supposed to hear all of the strings but i think your playing just the top 3 maybe 4. But btw...i really love your vids ect. Thanks alot for your help :)

Oh my god... I just played a barre chord... I'm so proud of myself.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I think what helped me was putting the crease of my finger clostest the tip on the A string. I NEVER THOUGHT THIS DAY WOULD COME! and I have long fingers but i've always had trouble with barre chords! Thanks!!!!

...therefore you make a more solid barre and it feels easier. For YEARS I tried to do barre chords and failed and failed and failed, I hated seeing F in a song as I knew how to do the barre chord but it never worked. It's only in recent months, (doh) I figured out to put that barred finger up against that fret, and bang... I now use barre chords every day easily.

Last thing I want to say, dear M... the start of your video WOW SEXY! I was like... barre chords? Or just struttin her stuff?... wow

...I found from experience of getting barre chords right that making the shape is only part of the problem, it's getting all the strings to sound, so here would be my advice in addition to your video:

The theory behind the barre chord being that you are moving the nut, making a new one that you can move. Explain that the shapes are open chord shapes you already know, and therefore it is easier than you think - make the barre as CLOSE to the fret in question as you can, to act like a Capo (cont)

Ok so this may be long. Firstly, I know how to do barre chords but I was interested to watch the video. You asked about barre chord cheats... I am guessing these count: first finger top E, rest of fingers to make A or E Am or em shape - play only top four strings. Like you would do an open B - the other way is first finger on Bottom E, and rest of fingers in E shape, gives you a lovely sounding chord that you don't need to fully barre. (cont...)
