  • Great video! You mentioned that some newer lighting panels can run off of the d60 battery (the LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack, correct?)-- which lighting panels are you referring to? I've been trying to cut down on the weight of my kit and having the ability to use batteries interchangeably sounds like a great start! Thanks for the additional info!

  • Which ones newer?

  • have u tried fuji hs 20 exr ...if u have any exposure ..plz suggest me (for still images) . thanking you

  • thank you so much. It's helpful for me.

  • nice video !, which tripod do you recommend for making videos ?

  • @neWLoADinGx3 I like the one I have, it is a mid price tripod, I have it listed on my gear page.

  • @drumat5280 thanks a lot, !

  • This guy sounds like the guy from Everybody Loves Raymond

  • i never used a dslr so i want to buy a 60d is it a good choice

  • Heyy, anyone knows anything about the 650d?? Read about a bigger sensor and some improvements in video mode. Got any advice wether wait for the 650d or go for the 600d? Can't make my mind up right now..

  • I own an old nikon d80, which is unsatisfactory, cause of its video mode.

I've decided to switch to canon, but im in a fix, whether to go for the 550d, or the 60d.

Im NOT into too much of sports or really fast action photography. More into, portraits and nature. I wont be needing the burst mode too much either. Will the 9 cross-type AF points make much of a difference? Or should i stick to the 550d and go for some good L glass?

    Please reply! thank you!

  • I would go for the 60D, or maybe a cheaper 500D if still available. The x00D series is fine, but the body is to small, hence awkward to grab, and this is a big issue if you want to be serious. Since they are both somewhat expensive I do not see the point in saving 100$ there.

  • thumbs up if your a 177,000th viewer.

  • when is canon announcing their new cameras?

  • Unfortunately Dave never touched on high iso performance. I own the t3i, love it, but the video is only good up till 800 iso. on the 7d its good to about 1600 iso. I really want to know if the 60d falls in the middle or is clean(er) till 1600. Any knowledge, Please Reply! Thanks.

  • @drumat5280 im a beginning cinematographer. what camera do you recommend. you can name any even if not these two.

  • Ah I can't thank you enough, you have helped me make up my mind! I love your honest opinion on the matter, definitely helped my decision making.

  • Would you suggest me to buy the 600D or the 550D and buy better lines with the money I've saved?

  • @Daxelinho9 it depends on what you want to use it for - for filming, the extra features such as audio control, flip out screen and digital zoom are really useful. and the price difference is only £50 so I would personally say spend the extra 50 on the 600d and buy a new lens later on...

  • One of the best comparison videos out there. Thanks Dave! You helped me decide.

  • I just bought 600d with 18-135mm 5 days ago.

  • Would you suggest me to wait for the new cameras or buy the 60d?

  • @MackEffects Good question, the 60D is a great camera for photos and video - the best cropped sensor camera that Canon makes in my opinion, but yes I would wait a couple of weeks to see what happens with the new 5D.

  • @drumat5280 any word on the canon T4i?

  • Can you do a comparison of the canon 60d vs 7d? Thanks b.

  • @MackEffects I don't think so because Canon is about to announce new cameras and I don't thing many will be interested in the 7D in the coming months.

  • hey dave, im making a 5, 10 minute film this weekend, will you check it out ?:) (600d)

  • I was wondering if you were filming with a green screen or how did you get that perfect black background?

  • one of them is for beginners, and the other is semi-professional.

    very good video though :D

    thanks.

  • Just sold my T2i to upgrade and this video helped alot! Seems like it's the T3i since all i need is video stuff :) Thanks Dave

  • I bought 60d after i saw this review. thanks for the help!

  • thankyou, very helpful

  • i'm mainly going to be getting one of these for concerts, should i go with the t3i because of the digital zoom or the 60d for the much longer battery? a little conflicted

  • does 18 - 55 and like 18 - 135 just mean how far it can zoom in? nothing else? thanks.

  • Thanks for the good comparison.

It would be interesting if the 60D has a microphone jack as the 600d has.

I would like to use some old pentax lenses with an adaptor.

dou you have any recommendations regarding this?

I know there is no autofocus and I have to do manual shutter settings, kinda old school, but some old lenses make very good pictures.

    rgds

    ps. thumbed you up

  • Buy good lenses with 100 dollar? Where?

  • @ManuelMarcal90 canon 50mm 1.8

  • The balancing feature on the 60D is really useful if you don't have a bubble on your Tri-pod...

  • you said the shots from 0:30 till 1:17 were identical, but for me, the 600d has a bit darker colours in your examples. is this only me chestiness? i'm confused now.

  • Comment removed

  • the 60d does have a digital zoom. It's in the same place on both cameras. And why wouldn't you like the LCD screen on the top of the camera? You can change the settings without having to go into the menu.

  • if anyone can afford buying 60d and a good lens, i suppose that it would be ideal.. i am using 60d and a 24-70mm 2.8f IF EX DG HSM sigma lens for my basic and, allow me to say, daily shootings and I am very happy.. great photo and video shootings! it feels that u hold a great piece of equipment when you hold the 60d in your hands.

  • now at amazon, 600d is ard 999 w 18-135mm lens and 60d is ard 1199 w the same lens.

  • cool uncle. thanks!

  • Is the 60D brighter or is that just me?

  • What camera did you record the shots of yourself with?

  • @MackEffects gosh it has been awhile, but I think it was the T3i.

  • @drumat5280 its my 1st time to buy a cam. and I'm still learning the ropes. . what do you suggest i buy??

  • @bigamai If you're using it JUST FOR VIDEO, get the T3i. Use the money you save to buy a lens. Canon should be announcing the T4i soon, so you might want to wait to make a purchase since the price will likely come down.

  • good review!

    Does the 60D has a digital-zoom while filming !????? the t3i has

  • higher price is always better . it is really how you would use your camera. don't forget the lighting, light is our friend.

  • Here, the 60D is arround 1,200$ and the t3i is arro$ und 660$. I went to the mall today and saw that :p

  • In Europe Canon 60D is more expensive than Canon 600D about 300 € so 398 $, of course with the same kit Canon lens 18-55 IS .

  • omy gosh, the burst rate completely sold me...i was taken back, almost went to heaven ahahaha

  • Great video Dave, keep up the good work.I'd like to correct something. The burst rate of the 60D is 5.3 FPS not 5.7 FPS.

  • Thanks for your advices Dave.

  • Great video, down to the point and no annoying music. Great job, keep up the great work.

  • its look like 60D is better

  • Dave Dugdale > Digital RevTV

  • i got the 600D if that the difference would onluy be 100bucks i whould have got the 60D bit it isnt

  • Thank you Dave

  • very nice video, thank you much for explaining the accurate difference between these two DSLR, keep it up

"Package arrived on time. All description contents were accounted for nothing missing. Love the camera and the lenses. The backpack is good. The handle on the top of the pack wasn't sewed on very well so it snapped but other than that the pack is good. Protects everything and all the accessories fit inside. Took everything on the trip ..."

  • Thanks for the review. I really like your videos. You do a good job.

  • Thank you so much for the video! I was considering upgrading to a 60D from my 600D. Now realizing that its not much of an uprgade as I expected, I am going to invest the difference of the money on a Sigma 30mm 1.4. Once again. Thanks.

  • very good comparison!!!!! thanks. but the the link you put for the price says 60d 899 dollars BODY only. and t3i 709 dollars for KIT. i think the differnce of the price is much much more than 100 dollars. i check it in other sites too . in amazon for example 250 dollars beteween 60d and t3i bodies..... . for everything else very good video!

  • I see a lot of reviews on image quality but I'm actually interested in the audio quality and options when it comes to adding external audio. I'm also curious about the filming time, seeing as theses camera were originally for photography.

  • Thank you for the actual side by side comparison. My wife and I are in the market for a new Canon, and we had to physically see the differences. After listening to you video I can say that I value your opinion. Thanks for helping us make our decision.

  • Forget about all these silly comparisons. Noobs comapre all these rubbish. In the end, its a choice between Full Frame and APS-C. I dont care about frames per seconds, or focusing points. How often are you gonna need that? And you pay double to get a 7D that is the same sensor. Idiots. Get a 5D MKII. shut up.

  • @00Q You sir, need to calm down and stop harassing people with your useless comments.

  • @00Q with 3.9fps ha try shooting sports with that..

  • @zshortyz what waya do you mean it ? video or picture if its video you're wrong

  • @1998flash i was talking picture the 5D takes great Video and non moving subjects

  • @zshortyz yeah i know i want one but im getting a t2i for graduation

  • Dis is Dave Dugdale frum leernin Dslr viDeo Dot Com.

  • sooo many D's in his intro. Dis is Dave Dugdale frum leernin Dslr Dot Com. and he's always gazing at you or something. where is CHRIS HANSEN!

  • CANON EOS 600D

  • The 7D is the same quality as the T_i series? crikey

  • does the 60d has continuous autofocus on video mode?

  • In my country(Indonesia), 60D costs ±$100 more than the 600D and ±$200 more than the 550D.

So yeah, i bought the 60D. 60D(body only) ±$700 while the 600D is ±$600 . I don't know whether this is cheaper or more expensive than standards but I don't really care.

  • I constantly bump into the dial on my 5DM2, changing the mode. I wish it had this lock :\

  • There is a slight difference in video quality. The 60d picks up more detail in shadows and dark environments than the latest two rebels. Film riot has compared the T2i and the 60d more in-depth in terms of video, check it out.

  • Thank you for the amazing review! You're the only one that has actually got your point across.(:

  • Your advice at the end is spot on. If you buy good glass, you'll never need to replace it.

  • thank's sir! now i know what i need to buy

  • Comment removed

  • 60D is 5.3 fps ;)

  • 0:46 - 0:52 you can really tell the video quality difference.

  • I had a 450D, and it (practically) never filled up the buffer like that. How could they make the 600D worse? Strange.

  • 60D you sound like a machine gun. i like you already.

  • The last comment you made was the crucial and defining moment of the choice. Invest in lenses not camera bodies. I've started with the 600D (t3i) and am building a collection of lenses, I will prob sell my camera body and get a 7D in about a year and a halfs time :)

  • 🉐^_^ tks

  • Okay!! I have my final decision! 60D you're mine! :)

  • If you are really into sports, 60D's auto focus won't make it :/

  • Dave, do a tutorial on installing Magic Lantern on the T3I - please!

  • in what world is the difference between t3i vs 60d only $100 ?? its more like 500. other than that good review but please correct that.

  • @ultraret at this time I recorded this, there was only a $100 difference. I should have done a screen shot of both prices so you guys would believe me.

  • @drumat5280 alright makes sense the price changed.try a youtube annotation to update your video.anyway its looks like the t3i is the better deal. thanks again very for the very helpful comparison.

  • @drumat5280 thanks so much for a very informative review, i have been looking at upgrading my body and couldnt tell the difference between these two, and digitalrev is hopeless, all he craps on about is how the body is plastic and no longer metal, but this helped me heaps

  • @drumat5280 believe you isn't the right phrase, so that we could see the prices at that time, would be more accurate, but regardless, i love this review, please keep up the work!

  • @drumat5280 Question 1: Im still going through your videos so I don't know if you touched on it but what camera/lens combination would you recommend for more of the pro magazine/promotional photo look. For video what would give you more of the music video look and not so much the cinematic movie/commercial look?

  • @bangbangboogybaby Are these serious questions?

  • @lcko Yea definitely are. I'm working on my music promotion. I'm currently interning (without pay) at an entertainment company and am about to relocate for college with no job. As you can probably tell in my situation being 20 I wont be able to buy a vast amount of cameras and lenses, this is pretty much a "1shot do not miss your chance" kind of situation. I need something with a fair price that can still get me pretty good results the FIRSTtime around to start off until i can invest more later.

  • @bangbangboogybaby Alright. I know I am not drumat5280, but I'm going to give you MY answer anyway. There are many factors you have to consider and not just a good camera/lens combination (both for video and photo if you want that "pro" look) such as a nice lightning setup (I cant stress enough how important this is), dolly/sliders, general camera handling and treatment of your raw footage afterwards in your software of choice. All of these, depending on how you manage, will give you the look...

  • @lcko that you are after. I would say a good combination in a rather low price range would be a standard 550D/600D kit. Honestly, people have gotten fantastic results with them, just search for it here on youtube. If you have more money to spare, invest in a tripod and a slider (or build one if you're handy!). Both will give your footage a dramatic improvement in terms of more pro looking footage. Again, everything comes down to how you use your tools, with the camera being JUST a tool. .

  • @lcko Right, yea that's another thing I've been reading up on. I know how important lighting is, makes such a huge difference even on something as simple as webcams or cell phones. Until earlier this afternoon I didn't know soft boxes weren't actually lights and some of these DIY tuts are pretty good so I plan on building a few to just start me off indy. Post production is definitely something i've been working to get better at as well.

  • @bangbangboogybaby Hey since you answered that question....I'm also a little confused as to what these "filter slides" do and how they would be used. Also I was told the Millimeters determine the focal length so what exactly determines the clarity/sharpness and character or overall look of a lens?

  • @bangbangboogybaby Sorry, I can't answer that. Someone else will have to fill in. :) Hoping dave will see this and join the chat.

  • @ultraret I believe the price of the t3i dropped while the 60D stayed the same. I got my T3i refurb for about $650, but when it came out, I believe the T3i was closer to $1000. The 60d body is just under a grand (at it's lowest price) on eBay.

  • @ActionFilmmaking got my t3i for 745$ at best buy new with the 18-55 lens kit

  • @ultraret $150 difference on the Canon website right now. A little over $200 on B&H. =?

  • @ultraret Lol... The T3i is only $100 less than the 60d dude. I don't know what country you're living in.

  • How come u say similarly priced? Atleast here where i live the 60d (body only) is almost twice the price of 600d. And yeah, picture quality is similar like also in 7d. But when it comes to ergonomics, build quality (weather proofing) and ruggednes/ the feel, and like u said some of the more advanced features in 60d especially for still photography. I have used them both and in my opinion the 60d is in a whole different class. Altought with a higher price tag. Thx for the good review anyways! ;)

  • I got the 600D since I've never owned a DSLR before and the T3i seems more beginner friendly.

  • @cusinndzl Agreed ;)

  • Thank u!

  • Hey Dave. Great Comparison Video. I have both the 60D and the T3i and I love them both! Keep doing your thing. You channel is a BIG help. Come by my channel. I create some informative and interesting things with Music Production. Take care!

  • thats the Botanic Gardens in Denver. How do I know. I got married in the butterfly garden and I live in Denver.

  • I'm going to buy the Canon Rebel T3i because it's great for beginners. When I'm older I'm probably going to buy the 60D.

  • @NorthLuckStar when ur older dont get a 60d jump up to 7d

  • this 1 thing amazes me: i bought the 600d it was actualy 200 euro's (245 $ us) cheaper then the 60d here. are the prices so difrent that its only a mild 87 euro's between the 2 in the us ?

  • I was just wondering if you ever had a shutter life replaced when it ran out. Is it recommendable? Like does it have future problems? Or is it just better to buy a new camera?

My parents recently bought me a 60D, thanks to your video that helped us decide, and I was thinking about if I could use it frequently (because I’m the type who could take thousands of photos within a week) or I should tone down a bit.

  • Doesn't the larger battery on the 60d help a lot for video shooting?

  • 100 ? 350 Bucks dude .

  • This really helped me. Just getting clear of what the differences are! Now I know I need the T3i (600D). Thanks!:)

  • Comment removed

  • first video that really convinced me =)

  • the real question is, what camera did you use to shot this video?...

  • thank you so much. u are very helpful

  • Your videos are so Informative!!! Ive been looking into my DSLR camera for a few weeks now and I think Im going to end up getting a T3i for video.

  • In regards to video, what about frame rates? I know that the t2i can shoot 50 and 60 fps ( all be it at 720p), and i belive the 60d does not?? Is this correct and what about the t3i? Also is the video chip exactly the same in the t3i as the 60d???

  • @NicholasClarkeMedia 60D can shoot 60fps at 720p , i own one

  • @NicholasClarkeMedia 60D does shoot 50 and 60fps at 720p. The T3i also can shoot 50 and 60fps at 720p. All three of the cameras share the same 18MP Sensor and all three also have the same Digic4 processor.

  • Great compration. best one i stumble in

  • I think the price difference is around 300-400. If you don't care about this difference. Definitely go with 60D. It feels right. But you can save this 400 dollars and spend it on L lens, which will make a great difference between this image quality. May be 2 years you can upgrade to full frame camera and you can still benefit from L lens. So with the same image processor, save the money, spend it on L lens (This is what makes a difference)

  • $100 difference?? No way!!

  • the image quality isnt gonna b the same. each camera takes the iso differently. for ex, the t2i/t3i is going to have more noise then the 60d and same goes for the 60d/7d. plus the iso options effect the quality as well. you could use the 1/3 stops on the 60d and get less noise than if u used one of the stops on the t2i/t3i

  • Thanks!! Gracias!!

  • V good video, no nonsense comparison. Best I found so far... Thanks!

  • 60d is heavier wich is good for video, it is weather RESISTENT not weather proof.. wich also is a big + for me. You may not be used to look at the top info screen but its a life savior for me. And the electronic lvl is nice with sliders etc. The 60D is also handles higher ISO better then the 600D.. So if you going to Shoot video and take photos to choose the 60D its much better in my opinion :))

  • I got the Canon 75-300 mm lens. Do you recommend it?

  • @lyrics2025. save your money on L lens if you want to get the best result from your DSLR.

  • 60D is weather proof which is a big factor for me

  • @stevensonb93 really? how weatherproof?

  • @TheUberPeople The weatherproofing isn't as good as on the 7D or Pentax K-5 (more expensive), but it is definitely better than the 600D. It certainly isn't a main feature on the camera but if it is an issue for you and you can't afford the 7D or K-5 then the little bit extra for the 60D is worth it. It is hard to quantify weatherproofing unfortunately.

  • @stevensonb93 I have shot watersports in rain with my 60D + EF-S 10-22mm. It's quite resistant to water.

  • @stevensonb93 is it? i didnt believe it was!

  • @stevensonb93 well, not 100% weather proof though

  • can i see everything on the screen while im taking pictures, because i have glasses and when i have to look in that small thing i cant see anything :D ??? HELP ME PLEASE, and is there any way to get it sheaper because i would have to collect money about 7 years to get that xd

  • @TheWildBubble i suggest you are talking about the view finder. i have glasses and its no problem at all. and try to look for used cameras, maybe on ebay, to get it cheaper.

  • @TheWildBubble i wear glasses and I bought the 60d and the viewfinder (which is what you're talking about) is really big that I have no problems with it at all. I haven't touched the 600d yet but I have experience with 550d, and the viewfinder was kinda small for me, who wears glasses. i hope this helps.

  • Minute 1:04 you can clearly see in the water that 60d has a better dynamic range. This made me get the 60d over the T3i. All I can say.. is wow , I got to use the T3i too but you can`t compare it... just the way it feels in your hand.... :) Great vid!

  • Really interesting video.

I was looking for this comparison all over youtube.

    Thanks!

I think I'm gonna go with the 60D

  • Really goog comparison!

I'm in the situation now: 600D vs. 60D

My decision (using the dslr mostly for timelapse): 600D

    Price comparision from amazon.de: 600D = 559€ vs 60D = 906€

That are 347€ price difference !!!

So I will stick with the 600D and buy a nice battery grip + the tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 lens

Then I'm still at the same price that the 60D will cost.....:D

  • @cnlb88 Heey... Are those prices just the body? Here in Holland I can get the 60d body for € 797 I don't think the difference should be that big..On the other hand, the 600d is here for € 515. So still a big difference...

  • I think that the 60D would be the better camera.

  • Just bought a Canon t3i.Still learning the ends and outs of using the Camera.I like the point you made at the end of the video.I hadn't thought about that before. So I'm going to wait a bit before I buy additional lenses. As you say the camera body's will change but you can always use great quality lenses.

  • Comment removed

  • I think its foolish to go with the T3i. I mean for just $100 more you get a semi-pro body. If you are really on a budget and are a video shooter mainly go with the T2i its better bang for your buck. I shoot both Canon and Nikon. I shoot video with my canon T2i and photos with my Nikon D7k. I love the T2i but the build quality is horrible its a little cracked after only about a year using it. Anyhow, that's why I say get the semi-pro if you sell it at least you can say its not cracked!!

  • @FlamingShutter Depends on where you buy them. I prefer to buy gear at places where I can return it myself if something is broken. Here in the Netherlands the median prices of the 600d and 60d bodies are 560 euro and 835 euro respectively. That is a difference of 275 euro or 50% of the purchase price of the 600d. I'd call that a considerable difference.

  • They are both amazing cameras. But he is right in the next 1 or 2 years there would be more improvements in cameras especially Canon, I am only starting with DSLR, so I think the T3i is a better choice as I am the type of person that would like to update technology on a yearly basis. I like the idea of simplicity of the T3i too many buttons confuses me. One of the reasons as why I sold my Nikon D90 to my partner. This video really made me commit upon purchasing Canon's T3i

  • You are better than DigitalRev

  • i choose 600D because i am beginner.

  • Just came across your youtube channel. Great vids! Nice to hear honest opinions on different cameras, and some good info in there too.

  • did u use color correct or a lenses filter with this?

  • Everyone. The 7D,60D,t3i,t2i all have the same sensor. They all produce the same quality, photos, and video. The best upgrade from a t2i is either a 7d or 5dmk2. Because the build quality of the 7D is very good

  • Great delivery, awesome info! I've been dreaming of purchasing a 7D but quite pricey compared to the 60D. Thank you!

  • he doesn't use the level meter, the LCD of the 60 D....the bigger viewfinder...., why not use just a T2i.... you're trying to make 2 things sound like their the same.... and no the bodies are not even close...smaller and lighter...a Volkswagen is no Mercedes.....and its no 100 Dollars....WHY even pretend they are the same..its no toss uP!!! get your facts.

  • 60 D can't be compared with a Rebel cheap T3i / 600 D...it's comparable to 7 D. 600 D is more in the prosumer category.
