thanks very kindly for uploading this. I sometimes forget about my love for Ferri. Absolutely stellar. I also love that interesting camera angles are used at certain points. Allow the viewer to see from a POV that we don't generally get in the audience.
What year was this movie made? These are two of my favorites! Although this is not his best, he is still great! He is beautiful to watch! She is graceful and delicate with gorgeous feet!
I was watching him with Gelsey Kirkland and I have to say that when she dances with him she is one of the few ballerinas that is at his level. The breath in her upper body and the softness of her arms, the subtlety of movement and her landings that barely come down because she is so suspended is really uncanny. I was curious to see him dance with some other ballerinas but all pale in comparison to kirkland even with her eating disorder and frailty.
Two wonderful dancers together!!! I love Ferri. She has the most amazing feet, even at that young age, amazing effortless turnout walk on minute 1:07. It's the most delicate Pas de Deux I have ever seen!

Making hip upping costume of all prima, we would see more traditional Gizel elegant artistic stage with charming and full shinign lighty lovely faily dances on dreamly stage, maybe.
he was much fuckin better with makarova they've just had the chemistry that no other couple had he's cute anyway and btw he was much better in that show not just because of makarova he's dancing was much better then
Not to mention when Marius Petipa created Giselle, he had his then 50 something year old brother playing the lead male role of Albrecht, which didn't leave much room for awesome Baryshnikov style jumps! Most companies have tried returning to the roots of the original Romantic era choreography as very little actually remains!
Ferri's Giselle is exactly as I could imagine Carlotta Grissi's first performance, if not better! The man's role really declined in the Romantic era of ballet, some even being taken by women in travesty.
Wow, two of my personally favorite dance idols! Together, wow! Also about Baryshnikov at his best, this movie was only made 10 years after you saw him last. What type of pieces did you see him in when you saw him? Because this is Romantic based choreography.
Funny factoid, it was Baryshnikov who asked Ferri to join the American Ballet Theatre. Misha was the artistic director of the ABT for ten years--the entire '80's. And in 1984, he personally requested her to leave the Royal Ballet and England itself--to join his liberated American ballet company. It's priceless to see them both together here onstage.
Odd, it's always the people who weren't born and raised here, the foreigners who make the most of this country, who make the most of it.
This was part of the movie Dancers. So so very touching. I got the tattoo that Julie Kent got at the end.

I love Ferri better in here than in the official release with La Scala in 1995. this clip explains why she is among the best giselles in history.
