I'm going to set up an aquarium verry similar to yours soon and I have a few questions;1-what kind of lighting do you use, 2-when you set up your tank howmoch did it cost you, 3-what kinds of plants do you have in there and what fish would you recomend
i have two questions about the co2 system. i have the same red sea co2 reactor and mine is very loud. is that normal. Right now i just started it for the first time and its been one day since i added the powder stuff. How long did yours start to bubble?

how many watts per gallon do you use? im planning on starting a planted aquarium and i love the plants you have in there. also, if you use any, what substrate and fertilizers do you use or recommend to use?
i got 2 39 watt t5's. Kinda under the 3wpg limit for a planted tank but i dont have light demanding plants. Just amazon swords and that hydro deformis on the right which grows really fast. Yeah i got substrate under the blue gravel which is fluorite and i dose liquid ferts of flourish excel like once every 2 weeks or so. good luck!
30 bucks a bag at petsmart or a LFS. Yeah you can mix it with your old gravel. Also remember the size of your gravel influences if your plant roots can spread.
the size of my gravel is about 2-3mm diameter..more or less..but i have some white decoration gravel that are almost 8mm in diameter...i was planning of getting rid of the decoration one and place it into my fishbowl and add this flourite to the main tank..
Oh its great. One downfall is that sometimes air bubbles accumulates in the motor and it will make a loud buzzing sound. You can easily fix it by just lifting it up so the bubbles that are trapped can escape. So far its pretty decent for the price. Good luck!

how much does flourite cost or any other ''plant substrate'' cost....is it a good idea to place or mix with old gravel?
