  • Great video.I remember most of those..Kudos for putting Highway,Bugaboo the Flea & War of the Worlds up there.

  • I miss my spectrum. anyone know where I can play these old games online? I found one on nicnacks but only got a adventure game.

  • @adalant2907 You can find it here on YouTube. Just download it with a youtube downloader.

  • 1080p avaiable?

  • Love this tune, its the dogs bollocks.

  • Hey, where can I find that music. It's cool. Anyone any hints?

  • Nice video ! Nice sound

Thanks for remember the fantastic spectrum !

  • please help me before i go mad. what is the game at 0.36?i have needed to know the majority of my life, please can someone tell me? you will make a forgotten spectrum geek (and proud) a very happy woman x

  • Cool music man!

  • OMG!! That classroom game was actually an arcade game. I saw it only once at a movie theatre in mid 1980's. I couldn't figure it out so that game ended quickly and found it a rip off. WHAT is this classroom game??

  • @yaywhewclips242 Mikie.

  • Very cool music. Includes Spectrum sounds.

  • Anyone know what the last one is? Ta.

  • I always liked the loading screen pictures. Great to see the old games again - it was REAL programming to squeeze most them ontointo a Speccy and some of the gameplay puts modern games to shame. Probably the best graphics I ever saw in a Spectrum game was Lightforce - crisp lear and smooth with no attribute clashes.

  • Cool Cobra theme remix and video... only thing wrong with this video: the random Spectrum computer across the game images.

  • pacman music ? LOL

  • The good 'ol days, when a few frames per minute were acceptable.

  • Awesome. So many good memories.

  • Galway is god.

  • What's the name of the game in 0:41 - 0:43 ? please help me! :(

  • @fabbierelear It's Dynamite Dan

  • @Kenzoid27 thanks :):):)

  • Excellent vid!!!

Brings back some ancient memories ;)

    Love the music too...

  • Comment removed

  • @exposed97 Not built in, reeeaaaally. I mean, you could save just text in the basic command line, but there were NO additional functions at all. There were 3rd party word processors available, though, such as Tasword.

  • Even though I never really owned it or played it before, but from the looks of some of the game videos here I do like the few colours they have and the simple transparency effect they use with them.

Way better than the Commodore 64 and Atari that looked like struggling full-colour poseurs until the NES finally came along.

  • I was here...

  • zx and c64 where both insane pcs for there day. a era of pcs we will never get back.

  • Awesome video clip.....Mega THX!!!!

  • cool music *O*

  • exelent!!! what are de names of the games that appear at 0.50 and 1.01 minutes?

  • @elpitu25k The game at 0.50 is "Fairlight", the one at 1.01 is "Jetpac"

  • I like the music.

  • Excellent! do you have a list of the games that appear on this video?

  • Ultimate games always seemed to be a just a little bit better than the others.

  • The best 2:38 on YouTube.

    Thanks

  • bad ass song

  • класное видео!

  • just brilliant. how was this tune made? sounds like a spectrum and atari 8 bit in co operation! pure class tune, i own many speccys and ataris, love em to bits. had a c64 which i lent to someone and his mother put it to a charity shop! ace video - thanx!

  • Lunar Jetman, Sabre Wulf, Chuckie Egg. These games are legendary.

    48 Kb.

Not 48 "gig" or 48 "meg".

    48 Kilobytes.

    :)

  • @ rhadoo4u it's Knight Lore from Ultimate, follow-up to Sabre Wolf.

  • which is the name of the game that appears at min. 2:16?

  • @rhadoo4u - Its actually Underwurlde. Knight Lore was the sequel to Underwurlde and was a 3d type affair.

  • 0:05 to 0:23 -> anyone knows the name of the game which is on the left side of the second line, with the image of a classroom??? i had that game but i forgot his name :(

    nice video ;)

  • you may have forgotten IT'S name, as games are not people... Anyway, it's "Mikkie"

  • yeah, you´re right

    thanks :)

  • Mikie

The Speccy was my first computer but unfortunately I was too young to understand its potential.

Anyway, can someone please tell me what's the game from 1:17 to 1:32? I'm 99% sure I had it.

  • at 1:17 - Dark Sceptre

at 1:32 - i know but dont remember the name

  • This one is The sacred armour of Antiriad.

  • @raindog108 , thnxx, but i think i made a mistake, but i meant the game before antiriad. With the cockpit inside the spaceship

  • Ok, i know this one too, it is 3d starstrike, a great game, clone of the star wars original arcade game.

  • Yeah, thats the one, thanx a lot mate

  • 0:50 fairlight my favorite spectrum game.

  • sweeeet, i actually knew someone who completed Elite and sent off for the badge, dont know if anyone else remembers that? Still have my Spectrum plus. Thanks for posting , great memories.

  • it might have been weak, but it was also cheap and the games actually looked better than the ones for c-64 in some cases (thanks to beeing so colorful)

  • Fantastic vid!

Wasn't the Spectrum an absolute gem!

  • That is so cool, I remember getting "Elite", and thinking that was the cutting edge of gaming technology. Tho I did piss about "cobra" most of the time, laser sights ......Yes !!

  • So many memories...

    Thank you for posting!

  • Nice vid!

  • ZX SPECTRUM yeah!!!

  • I liked this song. PM me if u know where i can DL it. Pz out

  • This music ROCKS!!

  • ah those were the days, when the sky was blue and the north pole still had ice. great to see that computer games keep getting better and better and better... perhaps one day soon we might be able to network our brains via skynet in order to maximise productivity in the fields of game development and international relations eh? we should send emails to mr. obama asking him to give usa better games and feed the emaciated children and end genocide aswell good willing.

  • It looks like Fairlight on the Speccy was a direct port to the C64? I used to "love" that game but could never finish it :(

  • Jesus h Christ, 1.01 could that be jetpack or something? That was my favourite, serious case of age regression after seeing that, I don't want to come back to fucking adulthood.

  • Jetpack has been re made and is available on x box live arcade, its awsone ,search for jetpack refueled to see it on you tube !

  • I used to spend HOURS on game at 2:17

  • Under Wurdle or something like this..

  • It's not completly correct, because I can't find anything like that on net, but You are close, it sounds familiar.

  • brilliant, made me feel 12 years old again.

  • Made me feel 4 years old again :-)

  • Very cool collection of games - and is that not the Cobra music?

  • Jet set willy, chuckie egg, ant attack, wow,,,the days when games were games .

  • Ah, halcyon days. You left out a true Speccy classic tho - Hunchback! And how hard was Ant Attack? Took the piss!

  • thank you for the memory

  • nostalgija labais ???zx32 to jar???

  • Well done, nostalgia is a very strong emotion and you certainly hit the button.

    Excellent!!

  • Has a slightly Gary Numan feel about the tune.

  • Surprising how good music you can get out of just 2 chords and a beat :)

  • Spectrum is better that Vista xD

  • everrything- even my 13 year old calculator- is better than vista.

  • @matabufalez50 ZX-Spectrum a platform --- Vista is operating system.

  • exiledred the game at 1:33 is called Antiriad lol. i've still got the game somewhere and my speccy in it's box.

  • only people understand this feeling who have played with theese on commodore or spectrum... sweet past.

  • This might just be the coolest thing I've seen in 20 years.

'can somebody tell me the name of the game at 1:33? I've been trying to remember the name of that armour for years.'

  • sehr cool! 5*

  • you've done a very good job !!

  • Splendid video about the zx with cool tune.

  • That was a blast, thank you! Most of these games I played to death back then.

  • ZAJEBISTE !

  • Bugaboo I remember that. There was some big story about him on the original packaging.. It went somthing like "if we do not succeed i will be a very sad flea.." ant remember was so many years ago

  • god i loved these games

  • It's Bugaboo the Flea

  • What's the game involving that jumping frog figure?

  • Good work!

  • Maaan, manic miner, saboteur, arkanoid II, DIZZY, rambo, I loved those games!

  • That is really amazing - and brings back many memories.

  • I like the elaborate explosion at the end :)

  • Love it! and the music is tune!

  • i spent hours and hours playing star wars and manic miner on my spectrum.. so great great memories...

  • I used to slag off this console...but the games look better than some of today's. More playable. Today's Hollywood don't understand that gameplay is more important than graphics.

  • 221 33 0 64 17 0 27 62 255 55 201

  • zx spectrum ace machine takes me back it was my 1st computer(console) when i was about 9 boulderdash, sabre wolf, chuckie egg and jet set willy were among my favroites how times have changed i wish i still had 1 anyway im going to play on my ps3 now lol LONG LIVE THE SPECCY

  • My memories of the Spectrum:

    Rubber keys;

    Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy - if you typed in the word TYPEWRITER on Miner and WRITETYPER on Willy, a boot would appear and, using the correct sequence of numbers, (don't ask me) you could select rooms;

Scrabble on the Speccy - two versions existed - identical in design - in one, it challenged every word above eight letters - in the other one, it didn't - I had endless hours of fun playing the computer - on Level 1, it would play ...

  • ... OF and IT, and I would play words like ALADEQEWIG and, on one occasion, MOHANSUHIPUBARE - one time, I used a J, Q, X and Z, covered three triple words and scored 1,331 points! Computer challenged, and I just typed Y.

Somebody invented a version of Monopoly - to avoida lawsuit, he caled it Automonopoli - you could decide to NOT buy a property - in which case, it would auction it off - on separate occasions, I bought Mayfair for £1, £0 and -£50 - it gave me the property and £50!

  • kids these days cant and dont understand how great the old days where i remmember saving for robocop on the commadore massive box it came in and getting magazines with cassettes taped to them.i could go on and on with the memories i have simply amazing days.i too have a tendancy to download emulators with double dragon and outrun ect thinking back on them great days where i was in the arcades.if any 1 has a working emulator already set up for a commadore or spectrum with games plz message me

  • link to mp3 please.

  • Greetings from Peru!

Nice memories from the ZX Spectrum, countless hours of playing with some of this games and also creating some with "Basic" programming with some help of the magazines of those times!

Horray to you Sir Clive Sinclair!

First introduction to what computer are now!

    Simply amazing times!

    Cesar

  • What was the name of that game at 1:04 where you had to steer something that suspiciously looks like a penis pushing a pyramid through a lot of obstacles?

  • It could be Penis Pyramid Pusher 3... or Highway Encounter, whichever you prefer to believe ;-)

  • Sounds suspiciously like Spindizzy.

  • It´s Highway Encounter

  • I remember the title music from Cobra as it was/is a terrific game. Jonathan Smith who wrote it made some other fine titles on the Speccy, including Hypersports, Green Beret, Mikie and of course Cobra.

  • top video and nice music. aaaah, this takes me back...... the old rubber keys of the spectrum;}

  • REALY GOOOOOOD MUSIC!!!!

  • I spent half the 80's on this thing with my friends & the other half waiting for games to load from a dodgy cassette player! did anyone have a Kempston for this?

  • same here mate spent the 80s trying to get these games to load yeah had the kempston as well

    great days

still playing pc games today its in the blood

  • its simple...probably in that days you were a stupid rich boy and your rich daddy gives to you any computer or toy, no matter how much were the price

  • Spectrum was a great 8bit computer, is probably the best (in 80's), and has a powerfull extensions. was the leader of the computers, like yogibear2k6 or not like, the best.

  • i hate it when people like you compare things that where built 10 years appart. ow my dual core pc is well better than a sinclair spectrum <--- it obviously will be COMMODORE SUCK!! (so do amstrad) lol

  • Sinclar Specturm was released in 1982, so was the C64!! Yes, the C64 is in fact thecnical superior in almost every way (Not the CPU though). But that has nothing to do with the actual joy, pleasure and delight that the computer gave its user. I have no problem at all to see why people loves the spectrum, even though i never had one. I have seen at least one game that was thecknical superior on the spectrum compared to C64, "Space harrier".

  • Excellent! Those were the days.

  • can someone PLEASE tell me the name of the game at a min 39 seconds plz

    thanks alot

    david

  • Bonzer111, I believe that's Commando.

  • thank you very much.

  • far915 GROW A BRAIN!!! the commodores where shite for more than 100 reasons

  • Thanks for taking the time to do this - mixing the music, too. I spent far too much time playing these games and watching your vid brought them all back - was that the Dukes of Hazard at 02:13??

  • i had nearly every game shown, ahh memories lol

  • It's amazing what the spectrum programmers were able to get out of that little machine. I'm sure if you showed the later spectrum games to the original designers of the machine, they wouldn't believe it was the humble speccy. Just incredible what they did with that old machine!

  • Ahh a trip down memory lane. I spent many hours of my childhood tapping away on the rubber keyboard and ruining kempston quickshot joysticks. Happy days....

  • Hehe i love the Commordore 64 remix used for this ZX Speccy video :)

Just j/k..it suits the video very well. Some great games represented there.

  • Technically, it's a remix of a remix of the Spectrum 'Cobra' theme which is why I used it. (And also because this tune RULES!) :)

  • if u ask me, its almost impossible not 2 remember manic miner!

  • spectrum RULES !!!!!

  • wow, some interesting games here, most of which i dont recognize. also your speccy seems quite "powerful" compared to my old one, for example your games tend to have alot of colours, whereas my spectrum games tend to have 3 colours per game!

  • These are all actual Spectrum games using the standard 8 x colours. They probably look more colourful due to the small screen size that YouTube displays.

  • What the game @ 0.15 secs bottom left of the screen, looks like a classroom? Cheers
