I'm at work, and having a shitty day. I looked for the Chris Thomas King version, listened to yours. God-DAMN. Nice job, and thanks for making a shitty day a little better. NICE job....
Alright man, excellent job, thats a great tune. just wondering what tuning your using, as well what the story with the Capo. cause i want to do this song myself, and like i said your version is excellent.
HMMMM your missing words from the song and your voice is quiet out of tone alot of the time but good work practice man i play this number on a mandolin i will post u a reply video
steal as much as you like! how the hell do you thin i got my chops in the first place? besides i don't like to think of it as stealing, so long as you say who you learned it from.
i use standard i about three or four songs in my set list. other than that, i use open D, or open G. it's not that i can't play in standard, it's just the style i'm used to. a lot of blues players don't use standard. nearly every slide player too.
you know, i don't know how i picked it up, really... i think it just sort of happened because i was already playing this kind of music, and i had a nice slide lying around the house. when it comes to how i learned songs, i just watched other people play and learned by ear. if you want to learn too, i'd suggest taking a look at a lot of the how-to videos on youtube, and just practicing with them. good luck!
thanks so much-- glad you enjoy it! i really don't do tabs... i learned this tune by ear a long time ago. it's a really simple 1-4-5 blues progression in E. i play it in open D tuning (DADF#AD), with a capo on the second fret.
no worries. Open D is DADF#AD-- when you strum all the strings open, you get a Dmaj chord. The DADGAD ("dad-gad") gives you an Dsus chord. slide players generally don't use the latter, but use Open D, and Open G (DGDGBD).
Nice, it's more upbeat but works nicely. You play well man
