One could interpret the event in many ways, like for example just MAYBE Lao was not accustomed to hitting an kicking girls, or didn't have the required dexterity after his meal, after all, the girls were prepared for what was going to happen - Kung Lao wasn't (unlike in MK tournament). Also we have no data on who those girl-creatures were or where they came from. Could be from already conquered realm.
