  • And not a single fuck was given that day.

  • does the lead singer remind anyone else of Alex Kapranos from franz ferdinand?

  • @vangelisrow nah he reminds me of stephen malkmus.

  • i've just cut my hair!

  • the song, the date.. and especially the video, brougth to me chills, good memories..!

  • The way Stephen Malkmus says advertising looks is just incredible.

  • No comments for 7 months? Dear god.... simultaneously great and awful performance, i expect no less.

  • @Metllerr they really don't care :P

  • guitar wizards of the future!!!

  • grantg5.... One or two mistakes? A Pavement song is a mistake. That why they can't do it the same twice. Pavement transcends mistake, right, wrong and all that bla..bla bla .

  • Do you think the guys in the band said "That's a pretty nice haircut!" every time one of the other members got their hair cut?

  • this was the first pavement song i ever heard. i saw them live a couple of weeks ago in australia and the were AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • hey, i love you guys

  • wow I used to listen to this band when I was 16 :P Im 31 now.... suprised they still around. lol

  • Going to see Pavement with BSS this summer!!!!!!!

  • me too! it's gonna be amazing.

  • @DannyBragg In London? Might see you there!

  • looking forward to this summer!

  • "SPECIAL NEW BAND!" =)

  • nastanovich is on fire!

  • damn they're so fukin good live. u wouldn't think so from their laid back style of music but godamn they are fucking awesome

  • Yeah they're so many times during other gigs or even demos when you can here Malkmus saying "keep going" to the guys.

  • This band fucking slays.

  • I like how loose and laid back they are on stage, they're not afraid of making one or two mistakes or being slightly off timing at one point in the song. They're just up there to rock out

  • I know, ilove when bands do that

  • @grantg5 Dude, that's what made them so great! Nobody had their stage presence haha!

  • so freakin cool

haha i love how he just randomly strums his jazzmaster. like no big

  • Man I can't wait for the world tour in 2010! It'll be awesome! Does anyone know where this is? Or When?

  • so far just 4 shows in new york in september..hopefully they come to chicago or somewhere close

  • @brucesrandomreviews

    Berkeley June 25, 2010

  • i love malkmus' "i dont give a shit" attitude. and i think this song means all bands were trying go for a steriotypical look in order to be famous. just thinkin

  • Coolest dorks I have ever known. What up beaker! Seriously the best band of the nineties besides Pantera.

  • pavement rules.

they're not trying to please you anyway, asshole.

  • I'm Just A Boy With A New Haircut, That's a Pretty Nice Haircut!

Bob cracked me up on that one lol.

  • 66, 669 views, hahah.

Pavement needs more love in the form of videos on YouTube.

  • 1:06 to 1:09 reminds me of will ferrell

  • This is pavement, and their lo-fi awesomeness. Just because the recording is extremely clean and perfect doesn't mean their live performances are going to be.

  • theres nothing in music as fun as these guys....

  • I love Pavement! I like the live versions with Bob doing his thing! Check out the live version of "Debris Slide" of "Unfair" (for the Bob fans)

  • 2:06-2:10

  • pavement is awesome i love them

  • this performance much more swelllerrifically crazier than the original.

the nonsense lines makes better sense now...how bout that ,Pavement Rules

  • The lines still don't mean much to me- I think I heard something about how they relate to the drummers who kept dying in Spinal Tap and some other pointless shit. I don't know- I never got off on looking into the Pavement lyrics though if people did that's cool. I just thought they fucking ROCKED! And this is exhibit A of that.

  • pavement is fucking crazy man. They're so amazing. They're the biggest weirdos ever., I love it.

  • stop dissing bob! if you dis a member of the band your dissing the band dammit! and you no dis pavement! they be amazin!

  • NO BIG HAIR!

  • i love SM's gesture at songs mean a lot when songs are bought

  • that is a devil's haircut

  • awesome

    awesome

    awesome

    awesome

i like pavement sooo f***ing much

  • hey dont diss bob, hes awesome

  • he adds so much! his yelling during the solo is f&$%# great

  • yeh man precisely, take bob away and pavement wouldn't be as amazing

  • Malkmus rules!

  • SM's solo at 1:27 looks so effortless...wow

  • he's probably too stoned to care about his soloing.

  • Comment removed

  • Nastanovich is awesome.

  • best band ever

  • As always, pavement sounds great!

  • Nastovich yelling is really annoying. Pavement is awesome, though.

  • It's Nastanovich, bitch.

  • Damn, Malkmus makes it look so easy, even when it's obviously not.

  • This is the only Bob's chorus/yellin' intervention I actually like.

  • pavement roCks that was so good =)

  • the fact that they never made it into the mainstream, is what makes them so special to anyone with any musical taste. I agree with you poolboyinia.

  • awesome

  • great song and awesome performance. too bad they never made it into the mainstream. i guess thats part of what makes them cool though.

  • ahaha the move at 2:07

  • greatest show...ever

  • Ha Ha ! Yeah! Now thats some good old fashioned slacker rock! He is a killer guitarist still, go and watch the Jicks live and bow down to Alt Rock Royalty.

  • Hahaha, Malk's dance at 2:06 is great.

    Fun performance, great band.

  • Only geetar one can hear is the malk's, which is a shame. Cool vid all the same.

  • people who knew how to work a guitar...and a crowd. They were fucking good.

  • great band

  • this is for mark and bob and stephen especially but steve those chicks with the tan-boothed skin behind first ave. and the compassion for a waits wanna -could -never -be well ... wuz a moment to me... hey ho lets go

  • You can't get a more effortlessly cool front man than Malkmus, gee I miss this band.

  • that seems a bit excessive. it wasn't even that loud of a scream. not even I got chills.

  • When he screams "BIG HAIR" Jesus gets the chills all over his body.

  • Jazzmasters rock and so did pavement until they lost some soul and direction, saw them at Reading festival in '95, best music day of my life !!

  • That Sunday at Reading in 95 was the only time I got to see Pavement. Is my memory correct in thinking they had a brief powercut and Steve W and Bob were running around the stage with their drumsticks using everything in the way as percussion until the sound returned?

  • i own a jazzmaster and a squire jagmaster there great

  • i know it's live, but the "ooh's" sound off. lol

  • That's probably the single most dumbest thing you could have said on this page... it's like going to Marilyn Manson video and saying, "He's wearing make-up" there was actually a time back when, when musicians didn't have to be Calvin Klein models & bands like Pavement played just for kicks and got their own deal.... yanno? Independent Music? Attitude? Honesty? Balls? There so few 'un-manufactured' bands around these days I kinda understand your position

  • Only the first round but the rest seem to be on-key.

  • Korea! Korea! ... Korea??

  • Career! Career!

  • los uh uh uh uh Uh UH estan desacompasados

  • I SO want a jazzmaster...

  • I know... Jazzmasters are awesome. Jaguars as well.

  • Yeah, I used to thing Jaguars where the ultra-shizz but as I get older I'm thinking Jazzmasters are cooler =) I have a Japanese Squier Jagmaster and while it's a great guitar it doesn't have that mojo

  • Lol, I only own an acoustic guitar (I've been playing for about 5 months). But I think Jazzmasters look awesome.

  • I'm a proud owner of a Jazzmaster, they are the absolute shit. I love it.

  • Yeah, those guitars are amazing. I really want one.

  • haha, i love the part where he flails his arms up and down because i always image myself doing that if i was ever to cover a pavement song

  • You´re never gonna cover a Pavement song Stumpy

  • It's all about Bob. Let's drink one to Bob.

  • Great performance great pavement

  • pavement rocks

  • Pavement 'Rock' actually ;).

  • Oh Pavement, you are so very tightly pressed to my bosom...

  • lucas es gay

  • damn i miss pavement. such a great live band. Where are they (now)?

  • One of Malkmus' tunings was (low to high) CGDGBB... not sure if that's the one he's using here.

  • This song is in CGDGBB IIRC, but it may be in DADABE. Anyone have a backup of the tab in the correct tuning from the old tab archive?

  • génial- I don't understand all the lyrics (I'm french)but Pavement is one of my favourite band. Hope to see them together again on stage one of these days...

  • You won't. They broke up a long time ago.

  • you probably wouldn't understand the lyrics even if you weren't french....

    great stuff anyways

  • Could you please post 'Kennel District'?

I know that it was on that show.

  • It ain't outta tune. They made ennui cool again.

  • Pavement rules. One of the best bands ever

  • do they use standard tuning?

  • Spiral used standard and drop D, I don't think SM ever played a song in standard, he's big on odd custom tunings.

  • Confirms the brilliance of Malkmus's playing.

  • wow, way out of key...

  • Much more energetic than the album version.

  • Such a great band.
