its fucked up how this video only gets 90,000, but lamer justin bieber gets millions, if janes addiction came out now instead of the 80s they'd be getting tons of views, long live god music
@AICALEXAIC it's called multiple hammer-ons and pull-offs. He hammers on from the 12th fret on the high E to the 15th and pulls off to the 12th then hits the 15 fret on the B string. He does this over and over. Start slow and stay relaxed then you'll be able to do it with some practice. It's a signature Dave thing if you will, very trippy
This crowd was fucking loving this nite. Awesome participation from the audience, unlike some venues where the music is kicking and everyone is just standing around
so fucking good, amazing song.. awesome band and all round musicianship.. fucking huge music!!.. only...why did such a ruling kickass guitarist from the late 80's - 90's turn into such a douche?

This is music when it is played from the heart. They would have rocked even if they never made it up and above the local L.A. club scene. But back then (as today) they were simply too amazing for people not to take notice.

one of only a few cassette tapes that I literally broke listening on auto-reverse in my '84 Honda Accord. "Pay attention kiddies" is damned right.........
this is hands down the best life ocean size i've heard yet... that scream at 3:16 gave me goosebumps on my goosebumps. i need that scream as a ring tone LOL...
i would have gladly given both tits to be at this show. perry looks HOT for 48 (he's 51 now). i saw them in '89, '90, & '91 but those are all just a blur thanks to psychodelics :) LOL
@groens@groens I was at the show 2 nights before this in LA. It was their 2nd, following the Roxy debut of the relapse tour. Now I'm a Jane's fanatic. I think they're the greatest thing to ever grace a stage, period. I saw a handful of shows in 90 and 91. Anyways to cut to the chase; this relapse tour and the LA show-- even as a seasoned fan, NOTHING prepared me for what this was! It was the greatest live experience EVER. I could've died that night it was so not of this earth.
@groens subsequently I saw their recent tour with NIN and Eric Avery and it was the ONLY ONLY time I have ever seen them and was bored. It was like a vegas revue! It broke my heart. Avery's presence, while integral to their sound and what they are, SUCKED the life out of them on that tour. HE is death! Just a buzzkill, asshole who does not respect or revere the legacy and instead creates the veryt atmosphere he did not want and avoided, and that was one of a washed up band.
@LFL84 that really sucks. i hear they're in studio recording another album... wonder if eric is in? i watch various jane's and/or perry videos on youtube and you can definitely see when the energy is there and when it isn't. sometimes it looks like a passion, other times it looks like a job. this particular tour was definitely driven by passion. i want to see that again.
@groens That's actually most of my gripe. Eric bailed again. Duff Mckagan is replacing him. They've already performed a Roxy show with Mckagan and it's already more harmonious. Avery is such the sound of Jane's addiction but you'd think approaching your 50's and all you've been for the past 15 years is a session player for Bands like Alanis Morrisette, that you could maybe check your ego long enough so as to produce another album from one of the greatest 4 pieces in history.
@LFL84 ya he is the sound of Jane's but in all honesty, I think Flea is way better in this (energy and talent-wise) and meshes better with the overall vibe. i've heard others like martin lenoble and as long as they are a seasoned, talented bassist, they seem to do rather well. seems avery's attitude had more to do with the band's problems than drug issues. he comes off as inflexible and rigid, along with the obvious ego... i mean, on this relapse tour they sounded better than ever.
@LFL84 I too saw them on that tour and Im a big Janes Fan. But I have to admit, NIN were amazing and better than Janes. Avery looked as though he wasn't having any fun and alone in his own world. Flea would have been a better choice with his energy and talent.
@Graffitti74 I hear ya. Saw them at Irvine meadows. Took my girlfriend for her to finally have a taste of what I was talking about all these years and frankly I was embarrassed. I had a pretty significant inside hook up too and I did not even bother going backstage afterwards. NIN did kick ass!
@groens ok i'm replying to my first post-- man i must have been asleep... life= live, psychodelics = psychedelics, perry is 38 in this vid, not 48... yes, he's 51 this year... and yes, he's still hot LOL although i wish he would have kept his gorgeous nose instead of replacing it with a new one :( his natural-born nose was so sexy.
88Dark-;) LOVE WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY... I first saw Janes when they were opening for... ready for this??? DIE WARZAU. No kidding. Best LP I'd ever heard... had to sneak outta the house and get to the cat club. Perhaps the best LP i've heard, to date actually.) somethings were inspired by genius.... Janes Addiction.... that IS genius.
@Burningchromosome I don't know man tom's good but Dave has a really distinct style that amazes me and dave made me pick up the guitar him and jimi hendrix
@drporkchop234 , sorry, had anger issues that night. i saw Dave last two nights of Jane's "last" tour in Hawaii. Dave blew me away. Talked briefly with Eric, tall, was with his girlfriend, leaving like he wanted to get the hell out of there...

Wow! That rocked! I have to admit, I was turned off to JA after I saw them at Lolapalooza 91, just before their breakup. That show completely sucked ass, compared to when I saw them in 89 and 90.
