@DakotaZ162 No, fluoride is the ion of fluorine it is F- and you do get fluoride based toothpastes normally a salt of fluoride usually this is sodium fluoride...very similar to sodium chloride. Sodium fluoride is not that poisonous and there is definately not enough in toothpaste to kill you...however you are encouraged to spit toothpaste down the sink.

I got "causes cancer" and "causes cavities"; Nothing about mind control. You would be in the hospital for completely different reasons if you drank enough tapwater to get cancer from the fluorides! Where I live, as in most of North America, there are far worse things in your tapwater anyway (like Chlorine and pesticides, which are carcinogens and are also BAD for your teeth!)

@Envergure unfortunately we don't everything about biochemistry - flouride might replace chloride in some body parts causing malfunction, and since we are not adapted to it, who knows what it might cause !
this applies to all substances which don't occur in our natural diet
