You missed one MAJOR point! Gohan didnt stop training, he may have stopped in world saving conditions but never stopped. If he stopped training the explain The Great Saiya Man. I don't know why Freiza was even scared of the sayians at this point. Yes they were getting stronger. But the strongest sayian on the planet probably only had a power level around 20,000. As we find out in the Frezia saga. Frezia's final form at 100% has a power level around 120 MILLION! So the sayians weren't even remotely cose to being a threat to Freiza. I mean he could have at least waited until one of them had a power level around a million, and even then he would be 120 times stronger.

Why Freiza was afraid; Friezia's ancestor Chill, was busy terrorizing the galaxy(continuted) when...

Chill survived and told his family of the power of the Super Sayian, he at this point and a majority of the galaxy, did not know who the sayians were or what they could do. Eventually this tale reached Frieza, Cooler and King Cold(The Royal Frost Demon Family) and thus where the fear was from.

@demonnator I looked into it and it is non-canon. But it was a pretty creative and it did a good job of explaining why freiza would be scared. Although Akira Toriyama wrote a great story I think he went a little overboard with the power levels. It got to a point where it became illogical for Freiza to fear the sayians in the first place. He should have made Freizas first form around 100k, form 2 at 250k, form 3 at 500k, and his final form around 1 million. A SSJ should have been around 1.5 mil
