It drops the ball in EVERY aspect. I am sorry and know that not everybody can agree on everything, but there was nothing approaching "mediocre" in "Super 8."
hmmm, what's left... let's see Moneyball (seen:boring) Melancholia (seen: visualy stunning) The Artist (seen: disapointing) Hugo (not seen: next on my list) The Descendants (not seen) Hannah (seen: good surprising thriller+technical feats and good music) Midnight in Paris (seen: Woody ain't what he used to be) Drive (seen: Less is more and there's the proof) tree of life (not seen: affraid) my only comment: why review a japanese anime? don't loose the hat even if mine's cooler
I wanted to see the Sherlock Holmes movies, despite having an unwarranted hatred of Robert Downey Jr. (I don't know what it is, he's a good actor, I just don't like the guy, I have no clue why) But after seeing BBC Sherlock and suffering from what tumblr calls 'post Reichenbach syndrome' I don't know if I'll be able to. it's hard enough watching a film adaptation of your favorite books, but after reading the books and seeing such great actors in the show, I don't know if I can watch it
@someone332 Transformers 3, Johny English 2, 3 Musketeers, Sherlock Holmes 2, Bad Teacher, The Hangover part 2, Final Destination 5, Sucker Punch, Unknown, Paul, Puss in Boots, Cars 2, Super 8, Fright Night and Captain America. So... where actually did i miss DH 2?
you should stick to doctor who reviews, seriously 'transformers 3', 'the three musketeers' and 'Sucker punch' you think are better than 'true grit'. Im sorry Mr Tardis, i love your doctor who reviews but your oppinions on movies in my oppinion is very misguided. I consider myself a bit of a movie critic and therefore, as you said so many times in this review, im allowed my own oppinion and that is that you are very wrong and this list is very VERY wrong.
@c0olfr0g Haha, I love how you can justify Trilby's opinion as being wrong because you "consider yourself a bit of a movie critic", I think you can only get away with saying something like that if you're Roger Ebert.
@richsc21 I don't even agree that Roger Ebert gets that privilage. Opinions are opinions. You can't say one person's opinion is "more correct" than someone else's. ...That's a matter of opinion. :P
Sucker punch is the film that all my arty friends at uni love, since presumably it has some rather nice imagery. I however was put off it upon seeing it advertised first in Nuts magazine and the plot seems to be a great big 'Meh!'
i'm glad yugioh 3d was on here, to be honest I have a love hate relationship with it as a film, I love the japanise version of it more then the english version and I love dan green, but I hate it cause of the comedy was in a movie that was trying to be serious but I also love it for the fact that it was connected to the 5ds story, overall I love yugioh even to this day and I love japanise anime all the time and cartoons, will you do reviews on japanise anime or other retro cartoons
Sucker bunch is just a very love MTV music video and bored me so much I wanted to leave the cinema by the time they started randomly fighting a dragon. If it had not been for my gf I would have saved from the rest of it, but I had to watch the it all and it just got worse as it went along!
One question about Game of Shadows: what happened to Moriaty's gun? The end fight could've ended in a heartbeat if he'd taken that out and inserted a bullet into Sherlock's face, at the end of the first film, it isn't even that loud, over the ball in the castle, no-one would've heard the bullet clearly enough to raise the alarm.
Oddly enough, Super 8 was by far one of the most satisfying films I saw this year. By the end I did care that the alien subplot was not explained all that well, the monster became symbolic for me by the final few minutes.
Loved Cap. America, enjoyed the fact it was more straight forward narrative wise and the film was solely focused on Steve and wasn't trying to cater to several different masters, which was my main issue with Thor.
Some more interesting choices, while I respect your opinion of Sucker Punch I totally disagree.
The acting was mediocre, the plot had numerous discrepancies and illogical plot twists and the action had little to no tension.
However I couldn't agree with you more no Cars 2, sure it is probably Pixar's weakest effort, but it still was a ton of fun and in no way deserved all the borderline hostility it received.
I fully agree with Dark of the Moon. While it did have many glaring weaknesses, it had loads of incredible, breathtaking action sequences, which is really why I decided to watch the movie anyway, and a fantastic soundtrack by Steve Jablonsky.
Also agree with Hangover 2. Yes, it copy-pasted the original's plot but oh my God was it hilarious. I've never seen a theater have as much fun as this one. All of us were rolling in our seats and stamping our feet. It was pure fun.
next year?...this year? well, if i have to choose a nice surprise for me it would be green hornet...DONT KILL ME for me the original concept wasnt working, and the main character personality in that movie its over the top, but the chemistry of the 3 main actors and the villan, and the humor...its a guilty pleasure :)... a fun ride for someone who isnt a continuity fanboy of the hornet
Wait, you enjoyed Sucker Punch?
Let's see what happens when you crossover with Film Brain. Given his recent review, it should be...interesting

If Captain America is the weakest of the Avengers movies, then you think Thor is... better? I hope you don't answer yes.

Sorry but I will agree with you that Sherlock 2 and Capt. America were both very enjoyable movies. I had a blast watching those movies
