  • LOVE the vibe, but it sounds like what Michael Hedges did alone with just one guitar.

  • ff.. que lindo tema !!

  • Here's something that sounds like king crimson- wainting man.

Aqui hay algo que me suena a KING CRIMSON - wainting man.

  • These guys have opened a musical corridor I never new existed . . . excellant !

  • at 1:41 reminded me of a part in Tubular Bells...

  • bravi musicisti ma.... un miscuglio tra fripp Oldfield e affini..... puro esercizio di stile e niente piu'.......

  • Wonderful composition :-)

  • 0:40 secs into it sounds too good!

  • great stefano & co.!!

    ivan

  • i think i blew my load.

    @^!!^@

  • braviiiiiiii

  • I saw them live on Saturday and my god, what characters they are.

For the encore performance Pino simply uttered, "Johann Sebastian Bach." The first 5 seconds in, I looked over to my friend and we both started cracking up. Apparently Bach composed "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

  • :-)))

  • Kind of compositionally reminds me of Mike Oldfield a little. Nice stuff :-)

  • Guitar Republic- a soundtrack to life.

  • Yes I understand Andy had his influences as well as these people did but two songs that use the exact same techniques on the exact same instrument will always sound a bit the same not that that's a bad thing. Candyrat's music just all ends up sounding like this, there's some variety in there but most of it heavily resembles andy mckee's styel that he uses in drifting, as shown above.

  • I love Andy's music and he is playing here July 17th. I don't see the connection that you do. I think these guys are a bit more diverse in their approach as a group and if you listen to them playing solo you may see more of a difference. The bottom line is though, we both enjoy good music listening to Andy.

  • ...so a bunch of different musicians from all over the world, some electric and some acoustic, all use exactly the same techniques and instruments? Even to say one musician used the exact same anything at two different times is an example of the problem here. To say ALL of any group is one way or another is ignorant. Even if you listened to every single song, which you haven't or you would know some artists play rock, who are you to categorize everyone on a record label as diverse as this?

  • @Gigglebooster comparing this to Drifting is like comparing an apple to a roast chicken. Sure they are both types of food, but they are completely different when you investigate further. I guess fingerstyle music like this is an acquired taste that only a certain group of people can appreciate.

  • Andy was inspired by others! Here is a quote from his promo material. "After starting with an interest in electric guitar, Andy turned to the acoustic guitar

at the age of 16 and began enjoying and studying the music of Michael Hedges,

Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin and Preston Reed. To this day he still sites these

four musicians as his primary influences in acoustic music." Pino and Stefano site Michael Hedges as an inspiration. Maybe that is the connection some folks see?

  • The opening sounds like Steve Reich.

  • US tour in 3 weeks.

  • Reminds me of King Crimson.Interesting.

  • i love these men, they are awesome

  • seriously one the most inovative sounds I've ever heard!!!

  • wow !

  • WOW...

I admire all what you do!!!!

  • hey gigglebooster this is nothing like andy's drifting. dumbass!

  • Really, precusion on the acoustic and then using tapping to get the sound of multiple guitars, I'm pretty sure that's the exact same thing as drifting. They're obviously diffrent sounding but still the same style, all they do diffrent is add another person to get another depth of instruments.

  • Eh it's cool, every acoustic song on candy rat is just turning into an andy mckee drifting knockoff

  • @Gigglebooster Are you saying this a knock off of drifting? I really love Mckees music, but its unfair to other players when you think anyone with that style is a Mckee knock off; he's not the first person to use that style

  • first off that's not true. second close your eyes and concentrate on the music

  • just randomly read through your comments did what you said was like an orgasm in my mind that was awesome.

  • Please make an Album :O

    I would buy it 1000times :D

  • this video is a promotion for their album..it was realeased yesterday ;)

  • Siete un orgoglio.

    Siete una gioia.

  • hey can anyone explain why almost all instrumentlists are playing with guitar cornered to a knee (sry for bad english) i mean i play instrumental myself but i don`t do that

  • it lessens the strain on the arm, wrist, hand and fingers.

  • that is the classical way of holding the guitar, so when playing classical guitar your are taught to have your guitar like that.

since Pino and Stefano had a classical training they are used to having the guitar like that. I guess Sergio is the same case although I don't know for sure if he had classical guitar lessons, but I guess he had

  • Please don't take this as a negative "nay-sayer" statement because it isn't, but I sometimes hold the guitar this way because it allows for better control when doing things that are more technical, when strumming I drop it down parallel to the ground.

  • yeah your right I guess, most of the time I hold my guitar parallel to the ground but when playing Pino's Fase 1 I prefer to hold it like Pino does. I guess it has also something to do with how you aproach the strings, because your nails come at an angel when having the guitar horizontal, and when holding it the classial way you strike the string right at an 90 degree angel

so I think your also right! :)

  • who cares

  • People who learn classical guitar are taught to hold it like that. Depending on how you play, holding your guitar like that could make things easier (like fingerstyle).

  • Also Stefano had a haricut...ow wait.. xD

  • grandi ragazzi....:-))

  • Pino got himself a haircut!

  • New Guitar Republic Video! Yes!

  • The septuple metre is really cool. It takes talent to be able to keep it so tight in such an odd timing. However, I would say that this song is far inferior to the other one, the funky sexy republic or whatever.

  • its not that rare, its uncommon... but it IS cool lol

  • @NicholasWiltrout theres seven beats per measure. Thats extremely rare. Im not even sure what its called to be honest. Either heptuple or septuple I imagine.

  • 7/8 time tends to give me a blue-ball feeling, like a cheated measure lol. I appreciate it's use in music when done right though :)

  • Pino is amazing, =D

  • whats with all the dreadnought Martins? is there something about them that makes them best for this kind of playing??

  • Pino has a Martin from I believe 1957, in the time where Martin actually made good guitars.. there's nothing about them. They're just really good guitars.

  • they are, gulp, attractive

  • why gulp?

  • @AlexLococo gulp because at best, I thought I might hear some transcendant, mentally-stimulating music. I wasn't expecting to be stimulated in such a primitive, longing way.

  • oooh i get it zD}

you didnt liked the song then? D=

  • Dude in the red always reminds me of Serj Tankian for some reason lol

  • its cool for sure but around 1:40 it just took me away into another place and just felt it. really helped me relax and face the second half of my shift.

  • finally something from them!!!

  • wow just fucking wow!

  • I can smell the airport!

    Oh no! It's my foot..

  • what????

  • I Love 7

  • its like fresh air!!!

  • Just stunning .......They are touring the US Midwest in April.

  • fucking beauty!

  • @NicholasWiltrout

    the song is in 7

  • Happy to see that Pino is alive.

  • great

  • I think some parts especially those in the middle lacked a cello. Otherwise great.

  • This is awesome! I think you guys are the ReIncarnateed spirits of composers from days long passed...

  • @Spyder8477

Why can't they be gifted composers of current times...?

  • I'm not opposed to that, being reality and all. I just like conceptualizing alot!

  • just bought their album....

    wow!

  • Some parts sound a bit like King Crimson's "Frame by frame". :-)

  • heptuple metre? Wow.

  • bravo great synchronicity and composing idea 5*****

  • Enjoyed much thanks *****

  • they are back!!!! yess!!

  • This should have 5 stars !!!

  • Beautiful. Pino really stood out this time. :D

  • Grandissimi tutti e tre! Siete veramente dei fenomeni, continuate così!

    Vai PINO!

  • not really into guitar ensembles but this one's alright i guess.

  • that's cool :D

  • nice to see Pino again!

  • gr as for greece? xD

  • guitar republic

  • i noticed that the moment i clicked post comment. it felt so stupid. :P

i'd rate my comment as "bad" too XD

  • it's amazing what u can do with guitars...although this is not the best performance i have seen...art comes in many forms...i just happen to prefer solo artists like for instance Don Ross, Andy McKee or Ewan Dobson...those three are imho the top guitarists that i have heard so far. anyone who objects is welcome to do so, just give me another example as i love finding new *AWESOME* guitarists :)

  • Those guys are great, and I don't disagree. Since you asked, probably my favorite guitar piece of all time search : john butler trio ocean. Pick the first result. Apparently there is some degree of improvisation every time he performs it, and I have seen versions I'm not a huge fan of. Maybe old news, but I love it.

  • @ManniMann1986 Antoine Dufour, awesome aswell ;)

  • guitar republic .- nice name :)

  • awesome! rly n1

  • great job. thanks.

  • simply mezmerizing... I love it!

  • very cool...

  • Love it!! very funky

  • Magnificent as always!

  • Don't know why, but I'm feeling influences of Philip Glass in parts. I love how they squeeze all these sounds out of the guitar.

  • PINO DOMINATES

  • smooth and it flows

  • not a fan. too abstract for my taste.

  • Makes farty noise with mouth

  • wow

  • wow.. anything sergio is involved with i have to get. Great song

  • i second that, altho i dont appreciate as much pino forastiere and stefano barone, i think as a trio they do awesome stuff

  • this is so awesome!

  • this makes me feel like calln up a bud and jamin.

  • I am a fan already!!

  • Beautiful =]

  • 3:15 i dont like that.. tempo akward thing you (left guy) do..

Everything else was really nice! :)

  • wow....

  • i can almost hear the airport sounds in the background...nice.

  • Oh man.. this just filled my ears and it was great bliss!!!

  • Great stuff from great composers!

  • its great to see these guys recording together!

  • how old is that song!! i can see it hard work you did thanks from me good job

  • love this!!

  • This was leaps and bounds better than the first one posted on here. That being said, I still enjoy them a lot more in their individual work.

  • this was awesome.
