@brunoxrs Well, I "agree" with at least the 1st paragraph you wrote. But, as for why Americans are always ready to crown ourselves "world champions"? Well, it's pretty common knowledge that the NFL is hands-down the best in the world. I mean, the rest of the world just started playing football about 25 years ago tops! They're not even close to us. In basketball, the rest of the world is getting close to catching up with us. Just watch the Olympics. Now, as for baseball..you have a point.
@brunoxrs I agree. And the Canadian Football League (CFL) knows their champions are not on the same level as the NFL and they don't even try to pretend to be. AAMOF, the NFL helps the CFL out financially. The CFL, along with NFL Europe, is basically (to use baseball terminology) the Triple AAA of football. And I'd say the Arena Football League is Double AA. And "semi-pro" leagues around the country are Single A. (Unofficially, of course. lol)
yes but a measly 8 teams play in the american football world cup, compare this to the 32 of the football/soccer world cup, its obvious which is more popular!
lol whats funny is that i didnt see any top recruits on this team that signed to bama lsu osu and all the other top schools in the nation it looked more like 3 and four star recruits on this team. imagine if we put our very best athletes against the world.
No matter how hard we try, american football will never take off in Europe. Simply because it's Americas game and they can't have anyone beating them at their own game. Even though Europe has given the world sports like soccer golf and rugby
I go 2 the us once a year for the wsop but the more i watch there football id love 2 go 2 superbowl only the champs league is watched by more people in the world i will watch it again on tv this year i would of went if the saints got there again as thats when i really started to get into it drew brees the best qb manning 2nd tebow 3rd imo im not the most upto date on it and il never pretend to be i think ny will win this year although the highlights r on later and i dont know who won im from uk
@Garrett1240 It's my understanding that the players on the World Team are of a similar age. At least 4 of the world players from last year were recruited by American Universities...
put it this way, is there a rugby WORLD cup? yes. is there an english football WORLD cup? yes. what about... is there an american football world cup? nope. that just shows everything about how unpopular american football is out side america!
usa play rugby there not good but they play all games and i think most countries play usa football and none are good im form the uk and our football players are overpaid idiots well most of them are idiots and all are overpaid weak idiots we invented the game and we are not much better than usa our teams are full of players from overseas
Of cause usa are world champs at American football same as Spain can call themselves world cup holders saying usa are not world champs is like me saying Usain bolt is not the fastest 100m runner as i have not had a race against him
@webo3000 This comment is ridiculous. Spain played against the best in the world to claim the title. Usain Bolt ran against the world's fastest and proved he was the best. Who does America play in Grid Iron Football (American football). They may even be the best..but how have they proved it? When the USA won the IFAF at least they played against other countries, and could justifiably be called World Champs. They proved it with competition.
@brunoxrs y don't u watch a few games say from now till the superbowl then say u don't like it there is only few games left , i used to hate american football but that was when i was younger now i ca see it for what it is a game of skill, strength, speed and strategy one more point until a country plays a football and beats a usa nfl team let alone a national team if they had one they can call themselves world champs, sorry one more point in the early 90s no euro champs as english teams were banned
@webo3000 You misinterpreted what I said...I'm actually a HUGE fan of grid iron football. American, Canadian, College...you name it.
I still believe you are using flawed logic. That would be like stating that English Premier League teams are the best in the world (which I love btw) yet they never face anyone else. I could invent a game and be the only person that plays it...does that make me the World Champion at it? That's all I'm saying.
all those players are living the dream! I would love to play college football, I don't even care I'm just 3rd string in a team that's not that good! I just love the spirit of the college teams in America!
American Football is full of American Values it is the most loving and passionate sport in the world! not even soccer can beat that. It's time for the whole world to wake up and Play FOOTBALL! leave that Soccer World Cup and Bring on the IFAF!
@PhillyEaglesFight Last time I checked more people die in your "sport" than in any other sport in the world due to injury. Not very loving and passionate, but oh, so american.
@Caaaarrrll My point being that you shouldn't call it "loving" or "passionate" (Passion in the sense of loving passion, which he was referring to, not determined passion). As it is everything but. You can say the same thing for rugby, but we over here in dreary old england don't say that it's a sport for fluffy little bunnies, we don't say its a game full of cuddles and scholarly debates. Don't give a sport a title it doesn't deserve. I have respect for Am. Football, but it's deffo not loving.
@PhillyEaglesFight please? soccer imean real football is the real deal thats fifa world cup is the most popular sports event in the world! . i like am football though
@nyeeezy i understand that Association Footballl is the world's game, but you have got to admit that outside of the very occassional goal (unless it's Man U beating Arsenal 8-2 Holy Shit!), American football is a lot more entertaining.
I didn't know about the tryouts if only i had known about it man! now that I'm a Senior in Highschool. Hopefully they will have this again. I'm 18 yrs old, I'm a 5'11" 178ibs RB who is ready to represent my Homeland of America! USA USA USA!!!
07:35 Marco Ehrenfried, played him this year when we played vs. The Schwäbisch hall Unciorns II, great player and great team, I wish I had this experience of playing with these guys vs. the best americans 1 day
I love grid iron football (in all it's variances), but truth be told...The Aussie rules Champion cannot call themselves the World Champions simply because no one else plays their sport (and they don't to the best of my knowledge.) Ditto the Canadian Football Champion.
I could be wrong, but why does it seem like the Americans are always so ready to crown themselves "world champions?" The World Series...Superbowl - World Champion
@Warhammer820 I don't doubt that the elite players in the NFL are the best gridiron football players in the world. I'm just saying that without competition from other countries...one can't logically be crowned the "World Champion".
Americans would likely believe no one could "even come close" to beating them at Baseball...but the World Baseball Classic proves otherwise. USA eliminated in the Semi finals...by South Korea.
@brunoxrs Just take a look at what happened when we set up our best high school players against other individual countries' players. The US won by at least 30 points at the last junior IFAF championship. This is different than baseball because it requires serious physical contact. I seriously doubt any other country in the world can beat the US in football with the kind of athletes we have even though they don't play internationally.
@Warhammer820 Your faith in your country's athletes notwithstanding...it doesn't change my point. I also have no problem calling the USA World Champions when a competition like IFAF takes place and the US wins easily. There was competition between the US and other nations.
Sure Baseball is different...but any self respecting MLB fan would tell you that the "best baseball players in the world" are American, and that they seriously doubt any other country in the world could be the US.
@Warhammer820 Not to mention...I wonder how much time "The World" team featured here had to prepare. Different players from different countries that speak different languages. I'm sure that plays a part too. Once again, I don't doubt that by and large, America produces the best grid iron football players in the world. However, just assuming that one is the best in the world doesn't prove one is.
@brunoxrs most of our really good baseball players are from outside the US, they just play in the best league. Ex Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Alfonso Soriano, Jose Reyes, Ichiro Suzuki...
@brunoxrs I'm fairly un-American in the sense the while I was born in the U.S. i side more with my Mexican roots. But the truth is the U.S> dominates sports like no other country can, soccer being an exception. I hate the U.S. soccer team. But basketball, football, the olympics which covers the widest assorment of sports than any other program; are all sports the the U.S. dominates.
@graph0tab only because the U.S. is more diverse...lets face it not making it racial or anything black people r the best at sports and the U.S. is full of them
@graph0tab I agree with you that the US is a world superpower of sports. I'm just not a fan of the idea that a league champion like the NFL Champion, or the MLB champion should be called a world champion. I belive that to deserve a title like that, one must compete against the best in the world.
@broLAXgoalie12 Although technically more than one nation are involved in the leagues you cited, no logical person could conclude that 1 out of 30 (MLB), 7 out of 30 (NHL) and 1 out of 30 (NBA) constitutes an "international compeition". 90 % US and 10% Canadian.
The competitions we see in Europe and around the world like FIFA World cup, IIHF Hockey, World Baseball classic..Rugby World Cup...THESE are International competitions, who's winners could be rightly be called World Champions.
@broLAXgoalie12 All that having been said...I'm all for the idea of promoting Grid Iron football in other countries. Its a great sport that doesnt get the respect it deserves because it is not regarded as an international sport. With the exception of the US (NFL, UFL) and Canada (CFL), no other countries have professional football leagues. I would love to see other nations begin to play the sport and competitions like the one in this video can only help promote our beloved game.
@brunoxrs The reason that the NFL, NBA, & MLB call their best world champs is due to the fact that those leauges are the best leauges in the world for their respective sport. The best players from all around the world come to America to play in those leauges because that is where the money is, and big money will almost always bring in the best talent. It is the same reason that the best American soccer players go to Europe.
@canukmark096 I understand your logic and the point you're trying to make, but it still doesn't change things. The Spanish Liga is arguably the best soccer league in the world. The Liga Champion cannot be crowned the world champion. They'd have to duke it out in the Champion's League facing the champions of other leagues to earn that honour. Although paying the most money, for the most part results in higher competition, it does not in and of itself make a league champ the De Facto world champ.
@canukmark096 I guess it is the presumptuousness of the American leagues in believing that no one else in the world could even come close is what bothers me about the whole thing. They simply assume that because no one can pay the money that they can, they are ipso facto the world's best. Until they give other leagues an opportunity to play them competitively (which they never will), I and many like me cannot accept their self proclaimed world champions titles.
@brunoxrs I get what your saying, but soccer is a very different animal because there are so many strong leauges in Europe, that is why they have the UEFA championships. Name me one other the leauge outside of the 4 major North American leauges that comes close to the level of compitition of those leauges. Take the olympics where pro athletes are allowed to play with hockey and basketball, all of the best countires are loaded with NBA and NHL players.
@brunoxrs I know that baseball is big in Japan, but their best athletes still play in the MLB, the same goes with basketball and hockey which are also both very big in Europe, but the best all play in the NBA and NHL. As for gridiron football, aside from a tiny international contingent you will only find it in North America, and I love the CFL but they cannot hold a candle against the NFL when it comes to todays talent. Canada's best play in the NFL and America's NFL rejects play in the CFL.
@brunoxrs Your argument would be valid if the North American leauges restricted their talent to only North America (I say North America because we all know that when it comes to hockey, Canada dominates). MLB, NHL, and NBA are loaded with international talent, the only one that is predominatley American is the NFL, which makes sense because girdiron football is America's most popular sport.
@canukmark096 Once again, I don't totally disagree with you, but I'm willing to bet that there would be a few surprises if American and Canadian teams played against teams from other leagues. I don't like the idea that the best of other leagues can't come close to the worst of North American Leagues. In basketball, FC Barcelona beat the Lakers in 2010. Similarly I believe if competition between them existed we would see that the world can put up a fight in most sports.
@canukmark096 Simply because a country produces the best talent in a given sport: Canada in hockey, and America in Basketball, Football and Baseball, doesn't in any way mean that they cannot be beaten by anyone. I guess what I'm saying is I'd love to see the American League champions go against the champions of other world leagues. Not only would it be fun to watch, but it would, in my mind, justify their self proclaimed titles.
@brunoxrs Well said my friend, I cant argue with those points. I would love to see more international competition. Most Americans feel the same, we would love to see it more and I think the leauges would welcome it on a small scale. Frankly its just not cost effecient nor easy for TV rating (which has a hell of a lot of power over the leauges) to have a leauge that spans 12 time zones playing regularly.
@brunoxrs The world decided that when they kicked baseball and softball out of the Olympics and don't allow American football. Woman's softball dominated and officials felt baseball was too American. So when the world doesn't even want to compete I'd say we can crown ourselves world champs.
@Shoebox991 well, that's your perogative. I still find it presumptuous, but that is also my perogative. In any event, I actually applaud this USA vs. The World tournament because it is at least promoting the great game of gridiron football. The world actually won this year which is a good sign. Maybe more nations will take to the sport. At least I hope so.
This game although interesting, proves nothing. The American kids have grown up with the sport and have it drilled into them. The 'World' team are just amateurs, who play it as a hobby. I like American Football, but it will never have the appeal of real football. whose 'World Champions' can rightly take that accolade.
@sportyruss i see what you're saying. but this is the U-19 team, basically amateurs as well. just with alot more exposure and experience tothe sport. i wouldn't root for the world team but i would love to see them challenge Team USA
@MIXEDUPTHROWNTOGETHR no, the U-19 are top highschool players with division 1 offers. my friend hunter goodwin now plays for wake forest and one of the linebackers on here now plays for USC
Question,I play Yankee football as we call it here in Finland. Most of us are former hockey players as hockey is the dominant sport here.Dont you have any leagues for ppl who just wanna play a sport for sport in the US?I mean Im 25.I play for my uni, but I play for a local team as well.Would suck if after my masters this year I either could go pro (never happens) or never again wear a football, hockey or soccer uniform. Here everyone can play at some level regardless of age, talent or whatever.
@yankeejake Really If you can't get into the NFL in the USA they players go either to the AFL, or CFL. There is eight man football but really out side of not many leagues last long. You either go to the NFL or that's it. Many people go from little league to high school then college and if you are really lucky the NFL.
@funguy7979 Would never work. Because it would have to be 100% amateurs for the USA and only amateurs. The College teams and NFL teams would have to be banned from playing. On top of that at the time the Olympics is going on College football and the NFL are starting up. But and heres the really kicker even are amateurs would be way to pro.
why are people here like complaining how can american make a world champion since no other countries are playing the sport.... well if no other country plays the sport isnt the superbowl winner the best team in the world making them the world champions
Lol, what the hell is this serious? Who are the other countries? American Samoa? American Football is such a capitalist country's game - it'll never spread, too expensive with all that gear. I've never heard other countries play american football - like for serious.
I think you all should support the USA Eagles - they need it, they just got owned by Ireland. RWC ftw
@aprioriReification Aparently you werent paying attention to the flags, or the writing on the bottom when players from other countries were getting interviewed.
@wowisuckatmath Yes, I did lol. My point is that this doco is trying to make a big deal about nothing. USA making a mark on the international stage? There is no competition to begin with--I mean you can pretty much see this by the fact that out of billions of people outside of US--there's only one team "the world".
If someone wants a real international sport to get behind their nation, look to the RWC or FIFA not American football lol.
@aprioriReification Considering that most of the top class athletes outside of the USA play other contact sports, it's hard to really compare. Additionally 99% of countries do not ahve such a huge focus on sport at High school and college level. Considering the level of coaching these kids have had 21-14 aint a bad score buddy.
This is a big deal because if you want to retain the self appointed "World Champions" status you apply to your Super bowl winners, you need to introduce the world
@aprioriReification I don't care that you don't like American Football that's your opinion but don't try to put other people down just cause they do. I could go around saying that soccer is a sport for poverty stricken people in third world countries who can't afford anything to do anything else but kick around a ball on dirt field, but I don't because I actually have respect for other people unlike you and apparently from what you said all people outside of the U.S
@jasonxrush Well that's great and all but you aren't getting my point. For all I care go enjoy American Football it must be a great sport since millions of people watch it however my initial point was that if you want to appoint yourselves as WORLD Champions don't look to American Football since nobody else is playing it. The US has never really taken off this mentality of isolationism despite participating in World Wars. You guys are in your own little world. Very incestic.
@aprioriReification Well, if your country was any good at it then you would think differently; i don't wanna hear anything about soccer because it's gay, now go crawl back to your hole. You need to understand how things work in the real FOOTball world and stop insulting something you obviously know nothing about.
@proAmerica87 Lol I feel like I should mention how great the US is first before you guys will actually read what I'm saying.
If my country was any good at football and we were the only one who played it, I would still CONCEDE that we aren't WORLD champions since--wait for it--we would be the ONLY champions, or is that enough? It's sad some of you really believe in this hype, It's weird because the US is genuinely the best at a lot of things. Why the blow up in things that don't actually exist?
@aprioriReification The U.S. is good in all "major" sports; i understand where your coming from, to think of soccer & U.S., shouldn't really be in the same sentence; i think the world is great in alot of sports. Of course, America usually dominates.
@hahahah466 LOL everyone is of some decent jackass. Its like saying kennedy inst american but Irish. Joe montana is AMerican, the only other non-american somoa players( actually american nationals) Is dutchman, hes a place kicker witht he last name anderson.
america samoa is the only country i think that has actual players in the nfl im not sure if there are players in the nfl that are from other countries
@daltontroy26 sebastian vollmer on the patriots is from germany(only one i can think of, maybe a canadian here or there), haloti ngata is from outside the US i believe. if you look deep into collge football there are international players, Boise State has about 3 players from the netherlands as an example
its a usa game and always will be. it may spread to other countries but u should already know we gotta come back with the gold everytime. in america its more than a sport its a life and its not a choice its a demand!! "I put my heart into this shit dawg!!" ~ ed reed. that right there tells u its more than just a sport.
@RedRoseRecordsSWE yea b/c when you think of countries that play football outside the US, you think about hte guys who are probably descendents of vikings.
@GridIronGod17 Talent-wise and yes, I am aware of how relevant of a term "few" is in this situation. I am talking in comparison to top college athletes in America.
BTW in the world championship USA won against Japan 23-22 in xtra time so give the world a 1/2 chance and you'll be like the brits who talk about inventing the games like Rugby and Soccer but rarely win the world cups
The grass roots the founders of the EFL were europeans who love the Game and not the $ . The manpower in Europe exists the athletes also. If you look at Rugbynthe sport has been developed in a balanced way, the US football is NFL and nothing else. If one day being a worls champion means something DEVELOP it on the amateur level and grow the game in the European pro circuits. Having the Berlin NFL europe with 5 european players and 40 Americans isn't going to do it. It's a great sport but it ne
I played 12 years in Europe and the only interest the USA had in spreading the game was How much money could the NFL europe franchises make, the grass roots of the european gameowe 1% to the a
it's about time ppl start realizing how great this game is and I'm not just saying that because I'm american! I'm saying that because I do believe that the game of "Football" not "Futbol" Football is a game of hardship, life, trials and tribulations, hardwork, everything you have going on in your life you can deal with that for 6 days but when gameday comes, you leave everything you have out on that field, and that is why this game is so beautiful! because it's a hard fought game! PERFECT GAME!
@UKMormon Look I'm not drunk but I can't understand one word you just typed! Did you even understand what I meant by typing "Football" and "Futbol"? Futbol is soccer where u only use your foot, not your hands, Football is totally different! in football u only kick the ball in kickoff, field goal or punting situations! if anything is more closely related to football it'd be rugby! However rugby in itself is a different sport not saying it's not entertaining, but each three sports are different!
@UKMormon I was speaking on the game of FOOTBALL! An american sport, which is carrying on to other countries around the world! Get it!? Good job! 2nd of all I was speaking about what the game of football means to me! AN AMERICAN! SMART ASS! Care to be an even bigger smart ass, smart ass?
@luka2194 hahaha, how would you know? I would have loved for it to be around so I could have tried to be a part of it. Here in America we have optimism and beleive if we work hard we can acomplish anything, now that may be a little naive at times but at leat we try. Besides you don't know if I could have played, you don't know how big I am, how long ive played or where I played college football.

@nyeeezy i understand that Association Footballl is the world's game, but you have got to admit that outside of the very occassional goal (unless it's Man U beating Arsenal 8-2 Holy Shit!), American football is a lot more entertaining.

I love grid iron football (in all it's variances), but truth be told...The Aussie rules Champion cannot call themselves the World Champions simply because no one else plays their sport (and they don't to the best of my knowledge.) Ditto the Canadian Football Champion.
I could be wrong, but why does it seem like the Americans are always so ready to crown themselves "world champions?" The World Series...Superbowl - World Champion
brunoxrs 2 months ago 14
@brunoxrs No offense, but no other country would even come close to beating any of the NFL teams.
Warhammer820 1 month ago
@Warhammer820 I don't doubt that the elite players in the NFL are the best gridiron football players in the world. I'm just saying that without competition from other countries...one can't logically be crowned the "World Champion".
Americans would likely believe no one could "even come close" to beating them at Baseball...but the World Baseball Classic proves otherwise. USA eliminated in the Semi finals...by South Korea.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@brunoxrs Just take a look at what happened when we set up our best high school players against other individual countries' players. The US won by at least 30 points at the last junior IFAF championship. This is different than baseball because it requires serious physical contact. I seriously doubt any other country in the world can beat the US in football with the kind of athletes we have even though they don't play internationally.
Warhammer820 1 month ago
@Warhammer820 Your faith in your country's athletes notwithstanding...it doesn't change my point. I also have no problem calling the USA World Champions when a competition like IFAF takes place and the US wins easily. There was competition between the US and other nations.
Sure Baseball is different...but any self respecting MLB fan would tell you that the "best baseball players in the world" are American, and that they seriously doubt any other country in the world could be the US.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@brunoxrs *beat* the US.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@Warhammer820 Not to mention...I wonder how much time "The World" team featured here had to prepare. Different players from different countries that speak different languages. I'm sure that plays a part too. Once again, I don't doubt that by and large, America produces the best grid iron football players in the world. However, just assuming that one is the best in the world doesn't prove one is.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@brunoxrs most of our really good baseball players are from outside the US, they just play in the best league. Ex Albert Pujols, David Ortiz, Alfonso Soriano, Jose Reyes, Ichiro Suzuki...
broLAXgoalie12 1 month ago
@brunoxrs I'm fairly un-American in the sense the while I was born in the U.S. i side more with my Mexican roots. But the truth is the U.S> dominates sports like no other country can, soccer being an exception. I hate the U.S. soccer team. But basketball, football, the olympics which covers the widest assorment of sports than any other program; are all sports the the U.S. dominates.
graph0tab 1 month ago
@graph0tab only because the U.S. is more diverse...lets face it not making it racial or anything black people r the best at sports and the U.S. is full of them
CGS707209 1 month ago
@graph0tab I agree with you that the US is a world superpower of sports. I'm just not a fan of the idea that a league champion like the NFL Champion, or the MLB champion should be called a world champion. I belive that to deserve a title like that, one must compete against the best in the world.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@brunoxrs because there are teams from outside the US competing in the MLB, same with the NHL and NBA
broLAXgoalie12 1 month ago
@broLAXgoalie12 Although technically more than one nation are involved in the leagues you cited, no logical person could conclude that 1 out of 30 (MLB), 7 out of 30 (NHL) and 1 out of 30 (NBA) constitutes an "international compeition". 90 % US and 10% Canadian.
The competitions we see in Europe and around the world like FIFA World cup, IIHF Hockey, World Baseball classic..Rugby World Cup...THESE are International competitions, who's winners could be rightly be called World Champions.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@broLAXgoalie12 All that having been said...I'm all for the idea of promoting Grid Iron football in other countries. Its a great sport that doesnt get the respect it deserves because it is not regarded as an international sport. With the exception of the US (NFL, UFL) and Canada (CFL), no other countries have professional football leagues. I would love to see other nations begin to play the sport and competitions like the one in this video can only help promote our beloved game.
brunoxrs 1 month ago
@brunoxrs The reason that the NFL, NBA, & MLB call their best world champs is due to the fact that those leauges are the best leauges in the world for their respective sport. The best players from all around the world come to America to play in those leauges because that is where the money is, and big money will almost always bring in the best talent. It is the same reason that the best American soccer players go to Europe.
canukmark096 2 weeks ago
@canukmark096 I understand your logic and the point you're trying to make, but it still doesn't change things. The Spanish Liga is arguably the best soccer league in the world. The Liga Champion cannot be crowned the world champion. They'd have to duke it out in the Champion's League facing the champions of other leagues to earn that honour. Although paying the most money, for the most part results in higher competition, it does not in and of itself make a league champ the De Facto world champ.
brunoxrs 2 weeks ago
@canukmark096 I guess it is the presumptuousness of the American leagues in believing that no one else in the world could even come close is what bothers me about the whole thing. They simply assume that because no one can pay the money that they can, they are ipso facto the world's best. Until they give other leagues an opportunity to play them competitively (which they never will), I and many like me cannot accept their self proclaimed world champions titles.
brunoxrs 2 weeks ago
@brunoxrs I get what your saying, but soccer is a very different animal because there are so many strong leauges in Europe, that is why they have the UEFA championships. Name me one other the leauge outside of the 4 major North American leauges that comes close to the level of compitition of those leauges. Take the olympics where pro athletes are allowed to play with hockey and basketball, all of the best countires are loaded with NBA and NHL players.
canukmark096 2 weeks ago
@brunoxrs I know that baseball is big in Japan, but their best athletes still play in the MLB, the same goes with basketball and hockey which are also both very big in Europe, but the best all play in the NBA and NHL. As for gridiron football, aside from a tiny international contingent you will only find it in North America, and I love the CFL but they cannot hold a candle against the NFL when it comes to todays talent. Canada's best play in the NFL and America's NFL rejects play in the CFL.
canukmark096 2 weeks ago
@brunoxrs Your argument would be valid if the North American leauges restricted their talent to only North America (I say North America because we all know that when it comes to hockey, Canada dominates). MLB, NHL, and NBA are loaded with international talent, the only one that is predominatley American is the NFL, which makes sense because girdiron football is America's most popular sport.
canukmark096 2 weeks ago
@canukmark096 Once again, I don't totally disagree with you, but I'm willing to bet that there would be a few surprises if American and Canadian teams played against teams from other leagues. I don't like the idea that the best of other leagues can't come close to the worst of North American Leagues. In basketball, FC Barcelona beat the Lakers in 2010. Similarly I believe if competition between them existed we would see that the world can put up a fight in most sports.
brunoxrs 2 weeks ago
@canukmark096 Simply because a country produces the best talent in a given sport: Canada in hockey, and America in Basketball, Football and Baseball, doesn't in any way mean that they cannot be beaten by anyone. I guess what I'm saying is I'd love to see the American League champions go against the champions of other world leagues. Not only would it be fun to watch, but it would, in my mind, justify their self proclaimed titles.
brunoxrs 2 weeks ago
@brunoxrs Well said my friend, I cant argue with those points. I would love to see more international competition. Most Americans feel the same, we would love to see it more and I think the leauges would welcome it on a small scale. Frankly its just not cost effecient nor easy for TV rating (which has a hell of a lot of power over the leauges) to have a leauge that spans 12 time zones playing regularly.
canukmark096 2 weeks ago
@brunoxrs The world decided that when they kicked baseball and softball out of the Olympics and don't allow American football. Woman's softball dominated and officials felt baseball was too American. So when the world doesn't even want to compete I'd say we can crown ourselves world champs.
Shoebox991 1 week ago

Here everyone can play at some level regardless of age, talent or whatever.
yankeejake 3 months ago
@yankeejake Really If you can't get into the NFL in the USA they players go either to the AFL, or CFL. There is eight man football but really out side of not many leagues last long. You either go to the NFL or that's it. Many people go from little league to high school then college and if you are really lucky the NFL.
Epica124 3 months ago
This needs to continue. Soon one day many years from now, football will be an Olympic sport.
funguy7979 4 months ago
@funguy7979 Would never work. Because it would have to be 100% amateurs for the USA and only amateurs. The College teams and NFL teams would have to be banned from playing. On top of that at the time the Olympics is going on College football and the NFL are starting up. But and heres the really kicker even are amateurs would be way to pro.
Epica124 3 months ago
why are people here like complaining how can american make a world champion since no other countries are playing the sport.... well if no other country plays the sport isnt the superbowl winner the best team in the world making them the world champions

@aprioriReification Aparently you werent paying attention to the flags, or the writing on the bottom when players from other countries were getting interviewed.
wowisuckatmath 5 months ago
@wowisuckatmath Yes, I did lol. My point is that this doco is trying to make a big deal about nothing. USA making a mark on the international stage? There is no competition to begin with--I mean you can pretty much see this by the fact that out of billions of people outside of US--there's only one team "the world".
If someone wants a real international sport to get behind their nation, look to the RWC or FIFA not American football lol.
I'm not trying to insult, just saying how it is.
aprioriReification 5 months ago
@aprioriReification Considering that most of the top class athletes outside of the USA play other contact sports, it's hard to really compare. Additionally 99% of countries do not ahve such a huge focus on sport at High school and college level. Considering the level of coaching these kids have had 21-14 aint a bad score buddy.
This is a big deal because if you want to retain the self appointed "World Champions" status you apply to your Super bowl winners, you need to introduce the world
predwr30 4 months ago
@aprioriReification I don't care that you don't like American Football that's your opinion but don't try to put other people down just cause they do. I could go around saying that soccer is a sport for poverty stricken people in third world countries who can't afford anything to do anything else but kick around a ball on dirt field, but I don't because I actually have respect for other people unlike you and apparently from what you said all people outside of the U.S
jasonxrush 4 months ago
@jasonxrush Well that's great and all but you aren't getting my point. For all I care go enjoy American Football it must be a great sport since millions of people watch it however my initial point was that if you want to appoint yourselves as WORLD Champions don't look to American Football since nobody else is playing it. The US has never really taken off this mentality of isolationism despite participating in World Wars. You guys are in your own little world. Very incestic.
aprioriReification 4 months ago
@aprioriReification American exceptionalism isn't just a posturing. You Jelly?
vtussin 4 months ago
@aprioriReification Well, if your country was any good at it then you would think differently; i don't wanna hear anything about soccer because it's gay, now go crawl back to your hole. You need to understand how things work in the real FOOTball world and stop insulting something you obviously know nothing about.
proAmerica87 3 months ago
@proAmerica87 Lol I feel like I should mention how great the US is first before you guys will actually read what I'm saying.
If my country was any good at football and we were the only one who played it, I would still CONCEDE that we aren't WORLD champions since--wait for it--we would be the ONLY champions, or is that enough? It's sad some of you really believe in this hype, It's weird because the US is genuinely the best at a lot of things. Why the blow up in things that don't actually exist?
aprioriReification 3 weeks ago
@aprioriReification The U.S. is good in all "major" sports; i understand where your coming from, to think of soccer & U.S., shouldn't really be in the same sentence; i think the world is great in alot of sports. Of course, America usually dominates.
