He told them that Hailey was a girl that helped him through tough times and, but at the same time she gave him some hard times in exchange. I thinnk he refers to his band lydia, as Hailey. this is the intro of their returning album. So, just imagine he's thinking about his band breaking up. just my thoughts on it.
