  • man that parafilm looks like a pain in the ass haha

  • Don't know I would want to do a tamiya betty

green house with para, corsair doesn't have

much framing. What's up with porn back ground music?

  • I am a noob, but years ago I used about a 10 to 1 ratio of Elmers Glue and Soap. You just paint it on th ecanopy, let it dry, and trim it. I also stuck a piece of a toothpick in it as a handle to remove it. The mixture was like a rubber mask and you could just trim it and pull it off with the toothpick. Have you ever tried this?? Or is this Parafilm better?

  • @MrSnacko No, but it sounds like it's the same as using liquid mask :)

  • @MrSnacko i use the same technique..i find that easier and affordable..you could try adding color to it so its easier to see..any food coloring would do

  • Does anyone ever just freehand paint canopies?

  • I wear finger cots to keep finger oils off the model and allow better paint cohesion.

Also.. fresh cots are like surface contaminant magnets....

    CVS sells them..

Oh.. and you can handling your models with them to protect their finishes.

I also wash the parts on the tree in dish soap before de-treeing the parts.

  • Cool stuff. Great look at what can be a tricky part of the build.

  • ahaa paint stirrers bought?! :)

  • @tenka45623 Yup yup!

  • cool video always wanted to know how to use that stuff

  • When I mask canopys I will shoot the edges with some zinc chromate first then do the over spray of the color just like you do- glued to the model with PVA. Then, the result is that the outside is the proper color and the inside looks like interior colour on the frame. If the clear is too thick, it does not always look convincing though. I love the Film! Have to try it.

  • @scandalousrogue The Zinc Chrimate for the interior frame color?

  • @SMConsortium yes- since it is transparent, if you paint that first then paint the exterior over, the inside shows the interior color. That is the same as the whole cocpit- am I not making sense? Apologies if not....

  • @scandalousrogue Na, made sense, wasn't sure at first that's what you meant. :) I just did that tonite. I'm using cockpit green though so I sprayed that, then then black and then I primer over it.

  • Have you ever tried using a liquid masking on the canopy? I don't know how easy that stuff would be to paint on, but it might be another option.

  • @STO2GO I tried it once and stopped. lol I couldn't get the liquid mask to dry right on the edge. I think I just have to get used to it but I'm liking parafim now.
