  • That pole makes a lot of noise

  • When we do 45s, we turn completely around, as in a whole extra rotation to what you're doing. Like we release, spin, and then face the opposite 45 and catch. I guess it's just a little extra flare my instructor likes to add. Idk I just thought it was interesting.

And everyone chill about whether or not it's a rookie or vet toss. Not every guard is at the same level and does the same things. Stop being rude.

  • I was taught a 45 in the 7th grade. Lol. Totally not a "vet" toss. If I could post videos on here, I'd show you a "vet" toss. My guard calls it the Dona toss. But it might be called something else. Idk how to explain it either lol. But that is a pretty fun "vet" toss. 45? NOT A VET TOSS. Sorry honey.

  • we have an ensemble 45 toss at different angles....and we are high school guard...

  • im in my first year of guard and i can do a 45 double. and if your going to do a how to video.... watch your free hands on the toss. just saying

  • I am just doing my first winter season and have done fall already and even the newbees for winter almost have that toss because we did a day to teach tosses to everybody. It is not just for vets sorry :(

  • this is my first time this year on guard and i already learned it and they taught it to me like two weeks ago

  • we teach rookies helicopters, pop tosses, money tosses, and a 45.....

  • scary? at first yes, but it's way easy. definitely good for rookies

  • I taught that toss to myself LOL

  • Why does that toss have a prep in it if it is for vets

  • I learned that my first fall season. :D

  • This video drove me nuts because i am currently learning 45 tosses for my winter guard show and we catch on count 5 not 4 so i kept feeling like you were catching too soon. lol

  • You have such a beautiful house. Nice flag work!

  • Thats the 3rd toss I learned.

  • i agree with a lottt of other comments. This is one of the 1st things a new person should learn. Also. You hold it in front of you at a shoulder hip angle, hands at the falg tape and quarter tape. lastly. when you catch on 5 you dont need to move your feet. Only move your upper body. (Be in a strong open 2nd) Other then that very nice. :)

  • this was the 1st toss i learned when i was 7th grade. not only for vets.

  • my guard almost all begginers n we do that on the 2 week of working

  • bro.. that's basic

  • We have to do a 45 in our show starting from in front of our toes, while on tip toes, and doing a saute underneath. This toss isn't as hard as you're acting like it is,

  • I learned the second 45 without the stir ..

  • im a rookie and I learned how to do this, its so easy. We had two of them in our show...

  • I learned that my freshmen year

  • yeah that was kind of mean you should encourage you rookies to learn things like this not turn them away from it and be scared to do this.

  • My team teaches the rookies how to do 45 and catch behind the back.

  • I'm in my first year and can do a one-handed 45.

  • This is one of the first tosses i learned as a rookie.... we didnt spend much time on it.

  • I did this when I was a rookie. But it definitely isn't easy. And it takes a while to get used to. I almost broke my nose doing one. (I was stupid enough to be tossing while it was windy outside)

  • Our guard has never learned the 45, we've learned a regular toss, parallels, and some other tosses but never 45 :(

  • This is definitely a rookie move... A one handed 45 toss, however, is a vet move.

  • yea this shit is not for vets its for beginners if ur vets are barely doing this then u guys must SUCK u made it seem like they were hard maybe theyre hard for u but not for everyone else

  • psh i did that my freshman year

  • We call those pitch tosses. I learned them in 8th grade:) And we learned to catch it behing our backs and toss it at the top tip and the middle of the silk.

  • If you caught it with your leg bent or one-handed behind the back then it would be or vets. But yeah this is a super easy toss if you catch it regularly.

  • Yeah thats pretty much a beginner toss but things are taught diffrent in diffrent places like we carve in front of us before we toss and we call it a pitch toss instead of a 45. BTW great free arms uder ur toss

  • to make it cuter add a little kick when you toss :)

  • this was the 1st toss i learned and that was before i was in guard

  • so an oblique... well. i must admit, they terrify me but they are kinda basic... was a clean toss though :)

  • No offense (you did great with the toss!), but we teach these to rookies too. I was kinda expecting a double 45 from top crutch and tab or something like that.

  • we teach these at tryouts i was hoping for something different...but ok

  • that was really pretty! So cleann. <3

  • Im an 8th grader in a highschool guard(dont ask why, long story) and everybody in the guard is expected to do both these and 1 and a half 45's.

  • I used to be terrified of those things... but i love them now. We have a 1/2 45, catch, and roll on the ground in our fall show. So fun. :D Except when we scrape our knees up rolling on the band field. (which is rocky pavement)

  • My guard, Everyone does this 45, Even kids in 7th grade. (: It's not hard dear.

  • ur 45 tosses r vaught very high, they shud be caught lower, just trying to help, i remember learning this freshman yr, it terrified me but i got it now (:

  • not trying to be hard on you but this is a basic toss ...

  • guys, stop being so hard on her. everyone's guard is different.

  • Tape those bolts down!!!! ahhhhh

  • its just a 45

  • im a freshamn and i can throw a 45, 3, 4, a paralell, a double 45 (behind back too), and a yo-yo toss.... nice vid tho, help clean some of my harder tosses :D

  • ok not to be mean but your prep is way to high, your toss needs to be more on a 45 angle, you need to catch it the right way, and thats not something for vets, those are one of the first tosses we teach the new kids

  • scary?lol i got hit in the face twice the first time i did a parallel i think im good because after i got hit i got it perfectly the next 7 times:)i like a challenge and my practice flag sounds like that too lol because i borrow it from the school and the weight at the top is loose haha nice video by the way:) imma subcribe and learn more

  • imma rookie . we have to learn that now .

  • That flag sounds terrible!!! D:

  • These should be considered basics... the hard basics you have for warm up, the harder work you can have for shows (:

  • This is a rookie toss.

  • I don't do 45's... I'm a sophmore now (I started last year as a freshman)

  • Your flag sounds horrible D: For your flags sake, please find some electrical tape.

  • In my guard we teach 45's too rookies it's basic

  • @rvn931 Exactly. I'm a caption head and this is the first toss my kids learn every year

  • This is the easiest toss ever. Its called an angle toss >_>

  • I am a rookie and they taught us this and it was one of the first tosses. It is also really easy!

  • This is the first toss we teach the new girls, this is not for vets. I was expecting something a lot more difficult.

  • @MissAmeliaCG "this is the first toss we teach the new girls" what about guys? :( gotta love not mentioning guys :((

  • I just joined guard i can do a 45

  • This is not for vets. This I learned early in my Freshman year and mastered it same day.

  • we just learned this ....for vets??? im a freshman and im in new member camp and we have to know this for our show

  • i had to do this like the first 2 weeks i did colorguard... never again

  • 45s aren't really for vets. this is my first year in guard and i have 4 different types of 45 tosses including the second one you showed us, but they looked nice :)

  • We learned 45s my freshman year, and through out winter and marching we had 5 differerent types of 45s.

  • We learned 45s my freshman year, and through out winter and marching we had 5 differerent ones.

  • this really isn't for vets, im a freshmen in guard, and we learned this in the beginning of the year. but it was a lil helpful watching the video :)

  • nice :) our guard was taught that as freshmen, haha!

  • my instructor would kill us if he saw us catching our 45's up there. we catch them by our side at the 45° angle. and our rookies are catching those behind their backs! ;)

  • were learning one handed 45 us rookies. Is 2 handed harder?

  • my guard has rookies and thats the first toss they learn and its the scariest thing for the but they always love it afterwards

  • MJ :] hes my instructor 2

  • I'm a "rookie" on my winterguard team. We do this as a partner toss and I am the catching partner. Scariest thing when I first did it.

  • @LindseySugarBlossom I would have said guard, but I hate being redundant/ repetitive.

  • This is actually a really good tutorial on how to do a 45 toss. Simple and right to the point. 5 stars.

  • omg im a rookie and they are making us do this.

i have a hard time on this

  • nice so how long u been captian
