@SundanganBANEG Just goes to show...look at this huge modern ship. It looks brand new, in fact. A huge ship this new and in this day and age and it capsizes. The best laid plans failed. What about the best laid plans for that nuke plant in the background? Can Antwerp afford to have it fail in some way?
@SundanganBANEG : Yep, the plant is called "Doel". I work as captain on a tugboat in that harbor. I also don't know the exact reason for the capsizing of the ship........
It would be something to see. Looks like a container ship. Someone probably made a miscalculation when loading or off loading creating an unbalanced ship. Just a guess.
It's a ConRo ferry (RoRo ferry able to carry containers as well) and capsized whilst loading. It was on a corporate misson as it was loading brand new FIAT cars and containers

This very vessel is frequently seen entering Sydney Heads with another load of new cars. I would not say it is ugly, although it certainly does appear top heavy, which, of course, it is not.
The turn was caused due to filling the wrong ballast tank and valve with malfunction. 5 months later, you can watch the ship at 'antwerp ship disaster, the sequal'
Totally bizarre. This ship is huge, it doesn't seem possible that it could capsize without some huge storm. The other bizarre thing is that basjunk says "quay." Haven't heard that word in a while, we call it "berth" in America.
"So, what happened at work today honey?" "Well, I got fired." "Fired? Why?" "Well, I was using the toilet on the port side of the ship and the handle stuck open and it kept running......I really don't want to talk about it."

Fancy pressing a wrong button sinks a ship! Wow!
Ships like the one at 3:32 are too ugly to be allowed on the sea. Does the architect have no pride? I hope these types don't represent the future.

water was niet diep genoeg, ongeveer 18 meter en de ene kant van het schip is dus in het slijk gezakt van de dok.

I dont know. Usually ballasting can only effect a ship 3-5 degrees off an even keel unless her freeboard was exceedingly large, perhaps.
