nice looking car, do all of us guys that grew up in the 80's a favor and do whatever it takes to keep that car on the road, don't see nearly enough of em anymore.
@jimmykudo23 stock 350 tpi. only mods to the car is the shorty headers, with the 3" exhaust cutout, and msd ignition. my future plans are a 383 stroker
the motor is an 88, not sure if a came from a camaro or trans am though. thanks for pointing that out though. and fyi about 50 L98s were produced in 86 as test vehicles, but this is also a rumor. look it up if you'd like. have a nice day
hey buddy how much are these 1980s Trans Am cars in america/Canada, I want one like Knight Rider model, I dont mind its its battered and has bad paint work, I lt an old one to do up, I live europe east, I love these and Camaro
I got the cutout put on my car, but its next to the muffler so that I wont burn valves since I want to use it all the time. You should check it out sometime! It sounds nice like your car, but not as loud.
I need to keep the cat on my car so does the pipe fit with the cat still attached? Are there any clicking sounds with the exhaust open or does it run and feel smooth?
yea, the pipe should still fit with the cat on there. just weld it infront of the cat., closest to the headers as you can get them. there is no clicking sounds at all. it runs and feels smooth, and it should add a good amount of power.
I need the pipe and electric cutout on my car so I saw one for $229 at Hawks Third Gen Parts. Does your car have a 305 or 350? What mods do you have to get that great sound with open exhaust? I have headers on my car so will that make it sound as good as your car? What size pipe is the cutout installed on? Sorry for all the questions but I want to buy this setup next month. Thanks!
Holy Crap thats a sexy trans am. I saw your post on Fbody forums. Looks like i'm gonna get a cutout for my car. What brand is that? Will it sound good on my 305TPI? I have edelbrock headers on the car too.
it is a 3" exhaust cutout from summit racing. the part number is sum-670137 and it costs $26.95. i had it welded in for $40. it should definetly make your 305 a whole lot louder. i orginally was going to use it just for the track, but it sounds so damn good and get so much attention that i decided to leave it uncapped. good luck with yours!
Sounds great!
