Incredible that this footage is around. I love how this "photographer" interjects useless pictures of waterfalls to cover up these master musicians thinking he is adding to this amazing performance by people who are not only the best and most talented but people who have more discipline than anyone else in the world. People think using a video camera and capturing a waterfall is somehow spectacular and makes them great artists. Anyway, it's great that this performance was captured in time.
@billdavidow Thanks for reminding it brother. A lot of people don't think at all.But ModalCode did a great job sharing this rare live of the masters of real music : )

Joe Farrell was the real deal! This tune is the perfect blowing vehicle. It's harmonically complex enough that you can do interesting things, but it's open enough that you can develop some ideas and not just outline the changes. Great stuff!
The percussionist is fellow Scientologist and lyricist Neville Potter. The play a version of SPAIN in this concert and he sings the UNISON SCAT part (which Flora did on L.A.A.F).
Why in the hell did I have to read your comment? I had no idea he was a scientology nut! I hope he has changed his views....I hope hubbard didnt get to him!
I feel the exact same way whenever I read or hear about someone's membership in some retard cult or another. I won't give a list b/c I don't want to spoil (or soil) for you the work of these artists from all fields--music, acting, etc--but if you knew how many people we were talking about it would depress you as much as it does me. It comes under the "I wish I jump into a time machine and un-learn that about them" category.
Bizarre, huh? Yet most religions are built on some untenable core belief or another which you either accept on faith & without question or you don't get to join. Even Buddhism--often called by practitioners not a religion at all--is split into "schools," some of whom believe in, say, reincarnation, while others (e.g. Soto Zen Buddhism) "believe" only in meditation itself--that all you need do is meditate & you'll eventually achieve enlightenment or self-realization. No myths, just meditation.
Some beliefs sound sensible, but Scientology is crap. Just from the story itself, I made the decision that the space opera was meant to be what it is; a space opera.
It's definitely got stuff that would make entertaining reading if no one were taking it seriously as a matter of unquestioned faith. Though again the Christian church turned its core ideas (virgin birth; water into wine; the guy dies--then comes back, etc.) into reasons to put people to the rack & thumb screws, slaughter the "infidels" (or whatever they called Muslims back then) & other unsavory stuff we're probably all still being paid back for to this day. Its the not questioning that's scary.
@ultimabass Stanley also, bass man. Al and Lenny said "...give your money to whoever you want, but my money is my money...". The other two scientologists wanted to take a piece off the top for their cult.., Al and, especially Lenny, said "..no way,man ..! ". Thats what ended "...Return Forever..."
Airto Moriera= the greatest latin drummer
EyMeng 1 week ago
Chick Corea - Rhodes piano, Stanley Clarke - bass, Joe Farrell - soprano saxophone, Airto Moriera - drums, unknown percussionist.
Could that be Ray Barretto? I can't tell.

The percussionist , not Airto ...didn't play the right part in the samba.
