  • This guy evenhough is not annoying he is fuckin annoying

  • Oh no, not this time Jason.

  • Cheesy digital fuzz with cheezy white blues wanker riffs. Puke puke puke.

Why dosen't Boss get smart and rerelease the FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz. That pedal is a classic.

  • This pedal or little big muff?

  • Smoke on the water+Boss fuzz pedal=Masterpiece

  • none of the models sound like the pedal they're supposed to emulate, just get a Monsterpiece NPN

  • No offence, but Jason, you look like a spastic.

  • is it just me or does the Maestro fuzz sound like complete shit

  • lol at people mad at blues riffs who most likely couldn't play them a tenth as well. Make your own videos then.

  • lol "timber"

  • He pronounces "timbre" like he's felling trees o.0

  • is this pedal good if ur trying to get like a John frusciante solo tone?

  • they have the mic right in the middle of a 2x12 cab

  • @95leftover

    best of both speakers? ;D

  • @95leftover It looks stupid but I don't mind the mellower sound.

  • Attention noobs shopping for a boss fuzz:

    - Steer clear from this horrible excuse for a fuzz pedal. COSM = FAIL.

    - FZ-2 for NASTY fuzz with a hint of octaving and brutal superfuzz style tones.

    - FZ-3 for nice civilised classic fuzz tones.

    You're welcome.

  • @vetzaaak Please,puedes traducir a español?

  • And so these pedals work on bass too?

  • @MrGroovySmoothie

Anything would 'work' on bass, but a fz-5/3 would probably my last choice as a Bass fuzz. FZ-2 might sound cool though, depending what type of tone you're after.

  • very little fuzz if any

  • What pedal has less gain: Fuzz (FZ-50 or Overdrive (OD-3)??

  • That's not fuzz.

  • It sounds like a cheap Distortion pedal..?

  • Do they only teach wanky blues rock licks at the school of youtube demos?

  • @vetzaaak The least appealing genres of music in 2011 are the ones played by 80% of guitar players. There's no doubt as to whether or not the guitarists are good, but maybe they should realise their band is never going to "make it" with this outdated rubbish. Metal nerd retaliation in 3, 2, 1...

  • @13967237 If you are refering to classic rock and blues as outdated rubbish, I think John Mayer seems to have "made it" based objectively on his money and fame, and he plays this "outdated rubbish" all the frickin' time. And people love it, or else they wouldn't spend $400 a pop to go see him and all he predocessors play this "rubbish" at the Chicago crossraods festival. but don't get me wrong, a lot of his other stuff is rubbish. just not the blues stuff. :)

  • @guitaristoftheblues People love John Mayer because he's objectively attractive and writes music to seduce women by. His Blues influences play a part in his overall sonic identity, but it's his adaption of it, and collaboration of Blues with more "marketable" aspects; that creates his success.

By all means, be influenced by whatever you like, just don't recreate it note for note. That won't get you anywhere.

  • @vetzaaak - Ha ha ha, I know, right???? It's like hanging out at Guitar Center on a Saturday afternoon!

  • @vetzaaak Ahah yeah, i am also tired to hear blues licks over and over and over again when i want to check out a pedal!

  • @vetzaaak

Show us what you've got then.

  • yet another cheesy distortion pedal ,,,what ever happened to true fuzz....devi evers comes closest

  • @KingHellFrown The bootique pedal market is bigger than ever now, there's a zillion excellent sounding clones as well as original designs out there for anyone's style, taste and budget. It's never been this easy to buy or even build a kickass sounding new pedal or a replica of some vintage fuzz.

  • "Sounds like crap"

That´s because it´s true to the originals. We all love those lo-fi sounds, but maybe if you want it you´ll need a noise gate or something, especially with single coils.

  • Needs more fuzz, I can't here the fuzz, it is just way too clean. Very thin with no sustain.

  • Get the MXR 108 Classic Fuzz, It is 108 times better then this. Boss makes good overdrives but this pedal SUCKS!!

  • I have a boss pedal with cosm, it sounds terrible. Just like the pedal in this demo. I never use it and I wish I could get rid of it. I'd rather use the distortion on a crappy practice amp.

  • this is the bloody sound of the desert

  • what happend at 2:09 laughed my ass off looking at his guitar dont know what is the porblem... anyways...that mode is only hearable when u are in the boost range?

  • Can you use this with a bass guitar?

  • nice tone now to compare to MXR m173+big muff+fuzz face

    Any opinions?

  • @13isaacz1 Big Muff

  • anyone know what pedal to get to sound like Jeff Magnum on the album "On Avery Island" by Neutral Milk Hotel?? Thats the sound I'm searching for...

  • Love the maestro mode! Almost sound like Dwarfcrafts starve feature

  • テレキャスだ~

  • This guy is a tool.

  • what a dork

  • Marshall Amp... tick Boss multi fx... tick American Strat... soon : )

  • go with a big muff

  • Sounds...terrible. Digital fuzz is a contradiction! Just get a cheap big muff or danelectro. And you'll sound a LOT better than this crap

  • @Ilovemyfender2 are the dance electros any good? im thinkung about getting one their pretty cheap...

  • @WuzzMcWaffleStein Depends on what you're looking for. Their tranparent overdrive, drive, vibe, reel echo, fuzz, and danecho are all great pedals.

  • @WuzzMcWaffleStein Go for the Danelectro Coolcats. I think they sound really great.

  • @shredderwannabe alright man thanks, i think ill try it out at a local store, see if i like it :)

  • @Ilovemyfender2 I totally agree dude. Boss is cool for chorus, flanger etc, but not for fuzz/od. Too synthetic/digital!

  • @forter24 and thats freaking exactly what anyone who is here to find out how the pedal sounds wants

  • @forter24

Because he's meant to be DEMOING the pedals, and not showing off his guitar playing you idiot. This video is not called 'watch a man show off on the guitar for 5 minutes', it's called a fz-5 pedal demo.

  • boss are terrible

  • @nickkalisz your a fucking idiot. IT SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE A DUNLOP FUZZ FACE. I DONT GET IT

  • @Theshamham

    Facepalm

  • someones masterd thair penotonics

  • PLZ PPL I NEED YOUR OPINION :)

i've only got a distortion atm and i was wondering watt should i buy digital delay or fuzz (i want a red hot chili peppers sound) and i have a strat

  • @superskatefreak3000 I recommend just checkin some pedals on youtube that you enjoy. for example I like MXR pedals.

  • I just got a tube amp yesterday, and I love it, but it doesn't have very saturated distortion unless you crank the thing (and that's not gonna happen in my house since it's 120 watts hahaha) but i was wondering if this would be a good pedal to use sometimes on top of the tube overdrive for a nice lead tone?

  • eww you can hear too much pick

  • sounds like hendrix

  • Same shitty blues scale on every video. Dammit!

  • You know you're a bell end when you leave the stock stickers on your guitar..

  • @HoodooDot He's probably just borrowing it for the review.

  • "little bit of a different timber to it" - Surely you mean timbre.

  • You say Z as zed, not zee.

  • @SwanSongRecords wikipedia: Z (play /ˈzɛd/, /ˈziː/, rarely /ˈɪzərd/; named zed, zee, rarely izzard)

  • @thrasher298 Still sounds gay

  • @SwanSongRecords like the band: zed zed top maybe??? :)

  • go buy a big muff, its cheaper an better

  • dear jason spencer.. do chords.. and dspot doing solos as much

  • Is there a Boss' distortion pedal that doesn't sound like a piece of plastic? This is supposed to be a fuzz pedal? Is that a joke?

  • PULL THE VOLUME UP

  • ayyy buddy slow it down not everyone looks for the heavy medal speedy shit

  • @falloftroy Tell that to Hendrix, SRV, Gilmour, Eric Johnson, Sanatana, Clapton, etc. You're SORELY mistaken...

  • im getting the sd-1 is it good? :)

  • @volcom1722// i got OD-3, bit more to pay but far better by miles.

SD-1 has no bass at all. i would use sd-1 for booster but not main.

  • If you want Fuzz, take Big Muff PI USA

  • I dont think jason spencer is that bad at guitar, but it would be very nice if he experimented other licks instead of repeating always the same lick in all his videos. I cant hear that same lick again, ive had enough. (you probably know what lick Im talking about...the one with the cliche up stroke, like a sweep picking in a pentatonic context with ghost notes and muted strings, which is intended to sound like stevie ray)

  • i love this pedal, i dont care if you guys hate it, it just sounds badass,

  • fuzz pedals are probably the worst pedals ever to get. (unless its used for a bass) because it just sounds like a 5 dollar distortion pedal

  • @falloftroy555222 shut up man listen to hendrix and then say fuzz pedal sucks

  • @falloftroy555222 it's not a distortion pedal though

  • @xfubar i know that, but im just saying that it makes it SOUND like a shitty distortion pedal,......likee, i understand its a fun pedal to get some cool different sounds, like jimi hendrix style, butt now a days, it just doesnt sound right to be used so much

  • @falloftroy555222 listen to electric wizard's dopethrone maybe that will change your mind.

  • @falloftroy555222 you are retarded, i bet you never have ever played on a good fuzz pedal. i love fuzz pedals man, and they have ther on league, they have a nice and furry sustain that i love. you have to set a fuzz good, you can't just put it all the knobs max out (like this guy, thats why it sounds like shit!) every effect is good and usabel in its own way. you are just ither way to ignorant or way stupid to acknowledge this...

  • Fat WALRUS¡¡

  • Comment removed

  • i got the fuzz for free.

  • This pedal sucks man

  • would this pedal be good for that early Pumpkins sound?

  • @stpisbackforgood

All YOU NEED IS A DYING LEAD SINGER...

  • the only useful setting is the octavia...i hate modeler pedals.

  • I've heard the real Octavio and it doesn't sound anything like the effect he was using. But it sounds similar though, and with a cleaner sound.

  • the beginning sounds so fake and digital

  • i like fuzz , sounds great on stratocaters

  • i like it! feels jimi hendrix

  • ...yes, its cosm modeling, but it sounds really good

  • what is the point of the other two pedals?

  • He's the only one that can actually make a strat sound bad

    well, him and John Frusciante

  • @prophetdude2 are you saying John fruciante is a bad player? do you know anything?! anything at all?

  • @Kimmocheck actually i know a lot

i also know that he isn't a very talented player

    oh well

  • @prophetdude2 uhmm well he is just one of the best players in a long time

  • @Kimmocheck unfortunately, that is true, "In a long time"

however, that does not say that he is very good at all.

  • This pedal sounds like Jason Spencer's tiny fuzzy balls.

  • sack him already!

  • this fuzz pedal sounds like shit compared to other fuzz pedals.

  • @theillfrisch buy it and then we'll talk.. maybe it is that i love it.. but compared to the Big Muff I prefer this..

  • could a fuzz pedal be used for a metal player?

  • @ritaritafans Metal was invented on fuzz boxes!

  • @ritaritafans I personally use the FZ-5 with a SD-1 and it gives it some clarity and a bit of overdrive, the versatility is amazing too. I can play anything that I want.

  • - I really like the raunchy, dirty, and heavy sound of the Fuzz. Specially when used by Hendrixesque musicians.

  • The people complaining about the quality of this video or the quality of the FZ-5, obviously don't know the pedals it's meant to emulate. The maestro is supposed to sound like crap and the octavia is supposed to be noisey as hell. Most of the classic recordins done with the FuzzFace were done as much with an overdriven marshall clean channel as they were with the drive from the pedal. So yea, this pedal pretty much does what it's supposed to.

  • weird, ive got a good old EHX Big Muff Pi NYC and it sounds nothing like id hoped.cause John frusciante has an amazing fuzz tone, and thats his main fuzz, but to me it sounds nothing alike.

  • @triviani1234 haha nice one

  • @triviani1234 It seems all of my favorite players that had some kind of boss pedal have switched to MXR or a signature from another brand. MXR, EHX, Way Huge, Dunlop, DigiTech, DeviDriver etc.

I have a few, but they are good. I want to swap them though! The only Boss pedal that will never leave my board is the TU-3!

  • his playing the same stuff in every video,

  • nirvanalive4ever - Jimi used a "Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face" Dunlop make a crappy reissue of that pedal which was a huge dossapointment.

  • Admitted Boss junkie. Granted, never played the devices this pedal emulates, but this pedal rocks if you need a raunchy but controllable "shredded speaker" sound. I personally don't care for the F setting. The M setting is super treble and lo-fi, which could be useful for Zappa-esque sounds that will sit well in a mix. The O setting (maximum boost) - let's just say I could explore that one for a couple years.

  • whats COSM?

  • Digital modelling to copy sounds.

  • Fuckin' hilarious how he plays the same damn thing every time.

  • i have an octavio octave fuzz and i dunno whether or not to get a big muff or a fuzz face now to compliment it

  • dont like it!

  • @nuttercore

    Whats awfull?

  • @nuttercore hes better than jd

  • i got my for ten dollars

  • @WampaProductions that's 9 dollars too much

  • @MoonlightShadowlolz Nah i really like this pedal

  • Was that the fuzz pedal witch Jimi Hendrix used and if not witch fuzz pedal is it

  • a fuzz face

  • lawl

  • Jimi used A Dunlop Fuzzface.

actually there is the "Normal" Fuzzface and the Jimi Hendrix Fuzzface

  • well, it's crunchy enough for my likes, but i guarantee it's not fuzz factory. didn't billy corgan use one of these boss fuzzes for siemese dream??

  • @youknowyourrite1 he used a big muff and a strat. only fuzz pedal you'll ever need

  • thanks, but i beg to differ!! the zvex fuzz factory and machine are the sex. IMO of course.

  • i like this pedal still....how much are they usually

  • @dipsetallday75 im about to buy one for $120. you could probly get it cheaper on the web though

  • your getting ripped off their going on amazon for about 83 don't overpay for pedals!

  • @PhilFoxNJ Wow 120 naa man u got just go to guitarcenter and buy it for $97.97 probably even cheaper if u want a used one on ebay or anywhere else!

  • I prefer my FZ-2. I think Boss is making a mistake with these COSM pedals. If I want digital sounding effects I'll get a POD or something.

  • un modelo de roland

  • What is COSM?

  • fuzz factory is the best

  • @irwan86 it is. but a lot of money

  • yup..its really expensive for a guitar pedal, but its really worth the money..i just bought it from ebay, the zvex series..sound awesome!

  • once again...stick to the 6th and 5th string...the higher strings don't make any difference whether you're playing the metal core, metal zone, blues driver, or turbo distortion...its all basically the same on the higher pitched strings

  • Not a great pedal

  • i just wish it had a tone knob..

  • Comment removed

  • I've got a keeley fuzz head pedal and it sounds alot better than this thing. OK for beginners, but not for me.

  • sorry but i dont understand what does fuzz do

  • @MartimCguitar Fuzz is just a very thick distortion. That's all.

  • okay thanks

  • it makes the guitar sound fuzzy

  • of course

  • yea

  • Comment removed

  • he only ever uses the same riffs...

  • The reviewer is a cock.

  • It wouldn't matter who the reviewer is, everyone would hate him; seems to be some trend or something. I paid attention to the pedal, and learned most of what I needed to know about it. It could be Doris Day demoing the pedal for all I'd care.

  • Nope, he's just a cock.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL

  • i totally understand what you mean, but a lot of these guys really need to make sure their mouths are moist before they ask for the camera to be switched on :o)

  • dude i said the exact same thing about this guy on another video

  • i salute you my stoner brother... well fuzz today is mostly used on the stoner and all that stuff... but also used on hard rock or plain rock, vintage rock also but of course the tune of guitar gives the PUNCH they need to,

  • what is the difference overdrive and a fuzz? iam sorry kinda newbie thanks

  • i dont get the point of a fuzz pedal... my home-made little pocket amp sounded exactly like this pedal...... when the preamp transistor died ! So am i a rock star with a dead amplifier?... it sounds like... a dead amp. Fuzz is just an error in a circuit.

  • really its like distortion old players used to have wasted their speakers with a knife, really! now we have tech to allow us to achieve wonderfull and crusing guitars, and the vintage sound all effects in one small package, all without fucking your gear

  • if you like some amp, pedal or guitar and you can't aford it, just watch a worldmusicsuply review of it, and youll endup hating the product...

These are the shittiests reviews/reviewers ever man...

  • @chuecco xaxaxaxa nice xaxaxaxa

  • @chuecco

    fuck yea
