@4MaryAnna you never heard of liberace who actually sued a publication for saying he was gay. he denied that he was. rock hudson. richard chamberlain. where there's smoke there's fire. the reason we don't give it a rest is becasue it is important for us to have gay role models. they do not come out just to protect their image and careers.
@wonderboyjoy That's quite a weird point of view, being outed against one's will is allowed if that person can serve as a role model? If he turned out to be bi/gay, and tell the world about it, it would have been the end for his career. It's important that people can be who they wish to be, closeted or out of the closet. So you want individual liberty for all, yet you believe in forcing someone of the closet? Possibly ruin someone's life so you can have your role model...contradictory?
@episcus if more came out we still would not be having this problem today. the point is, being gay should not ruin a person's carreer and yet it clearly still does. there are whole documentaries on gay hollywood before the 2nd world war. you should check them out. also check out world coming out day and the reasons behind that. if you are not interested, then it means nothing to you and you are part of the problem. just my thoughts-weird as they may be.
@wonderboyjoy Both Liberace and Hudson were "known gays" before their deaths. It is TOTALLY unfair to pin labels on people that have passed away. They can no longer defend themselves! So again I say, give it a rest.
@4MaryAnna No. It's wrong that they had to hide their sexuality and that people still do to this day because the world can turn very quickly against them. That's what's simply, WRONG.
@wonderboyjoy I guess you just don't understand one very important piece of information,so I'll say it again:Cary Grant was NOT gay, neither was Randolph Scott. He and Grant were best friends that shared a bachelor beach pad. They had women in and out all the time.Grant was married 5 times and said the love of his life was Sofia Loren.Scott was married twice and was a known ladies man,It was the studio that nervously made a big deal out of the shared beach shack, but then they were twits, like you
@chuckbuckbobuck - I don't think anyone recently has posted anything negative about Cary's sexuality. I think it makes him hotter to me, to know a man is in tune with himself/body/emotions to be open for all relationships and sexual expression. It's just this scene seems so stark and hot sexual energy between the two men than jealousy over the tiny broad, if interpreted using the lens of the fact they later became lovers /roommates in reality.
@klyana130 Straight people are so in denial and cling to straws about their fantasies wrapped around closet heroes. It's a laugh and pathetic. If gays were trying to coopt everyone then John Wayne and Ronald Reagan would be labeled with Bogart or Gable. You know why they aren't BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T Gay! When the rumors are credible from TONS of sources and dates/spouse and implausibly denied - it's more than likely true but keep secret Vegas style.
Everyone knows Cary Grant swung both ways, so what! He's still my favorite actor of all times and one of the greatest looking man in history. And this is from a card carrying, red meat-eating all man heterosexual!!
Ah I agree about "the sexual energy between Scott/Grant is TEN times Dunne/Grant." in My Favorite Wife", scene in the pool.
Did you know they were about to star in a movie "Spawn of the North" in the 1938 with Carole Lombard as the leading lady, but the studios wouldn't let them, so they roles went to George raft, Henry Fonda and Dorothy Lamour. Too bad we didn't have that opportunity to enjoy one more collaboration between them!
who wouldn't check out Cary Grant? He is sort of delicious.

When you see Cary Grant and Randolph Scott together in picture stills, there is no denying the truth, they were in love.

Would gladly have made them a visit :-))

Give me a break -- Scott (Bill) was sizing up Grant as a competitor, not as an attraction.

If you want the (sad) truth about Cary Grant, read _Wisecracker_, W. J. Mann's biography of William Haines.

@4MaryAnna He's CARY GRANT one of the 30's and 40's sex symbol and Rock Hudson was the sex symbol of the 50's.
