I think there are many good decent liberals out there who simply have a different philosophy of life and different values. I live in a blue state and it seems almost everyone around me is a liberal and most of them are good people. Partisan aside, neither being a republican or democrat- this year I'm forced to vote Republican. Why? I've interned in Washington D.C, talked to various professors, and have done legitimate research. What's conclusive by statistical data is that although traditionally Republicans are for deregulation, and democrats for regulation, it is not so in 100% of the instances due to special interest groups. Obama, by incontrovertible evidence, voted twice against regulation of Fanny & Freddie.

I am for Ron Paul, however, it is also well documented that Obama voted twice against the regulation of Fanny & Freddie, while McCain voted twice for it and co-sponsored it once. That's incontrovertible evidence proven not by opinion, but by statistics. McCain is an individual (as proven year after year) as well as Obama.

Partisan aside, neither being a republican or democrat- this year I'm forced to vote Republican. Why? I've interned in Washington D.C, talked to various professors, and have done legitimate research. What's conclusive by statistical data is that although traditionally Republicans are for deregulation, and democrats for regulation, it is not so in 100% of the instances due to special interest groups. The reason the economy is going downhill is the mortgage crisis, this was all because the Democrats refused to go with the reforms of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that Bush (and later McCain) wanted to implement. If Congress had done what Bush and McCain had said we should do, we wouldn't be in this economic mess today. McCain's own campaign admits that DEREGULATION is responsible for the economy today. They have an ad trying to claim that Obama helped deregulation along and didn't fight against it, and the ad basically admits that DEREGULATION is the problem.
And it is well documented that DEREGULATION has been pushed by most republicans.

McCain was for further deregulation of the markets a few months back, now he claims to have always been for more regulation! The EU is also looking to strengthen control of the banking sector so that this same economic catastrophe can be avoided in the future. How did the left cause this mess? The right has been in power since 2000! Even when clinton became first elected, the congress almost immediatly changed to mainly republicans. The president isn't able to even make much change domestically after the first 18 months because of the problem of dealing with congress so you could actually argue that the republicans have had control of domestic issues since around 1993!

The police aren't in charge of keeping my doors locked. It's there job to find who robbed me. The leaders of this country are in charge of keeping the country in a good working order. And they haven't done so. There needs to be some accountability otherwise we'll keep running into this problem over and over. The republicans have had the most control over this country for the past 28 years. It's time they step down and loosen their grip and let the country heal.

Do you know what socialism is? What it truly means? Ever have a friend help you move? Know anything about neighbors raising a barn? Been to a PTA? Ever donated time or money to a charity? Ever served in the military?
Socialism recognizes that we're 'in this' together. Such sentiment and the activities produced from said sentiment or 'ideal' does not interfere with an individual's choices. The top 5% pay more than they now do so that the bottom 30% can actually live in dignity.

Former President Clinton is very intelligent. I respect his insight.
I would have rather seen Mrs. Clinton as the candidate selected by the media and the entrenched two-party system. I would have voted for her, rather than McCain, who appears, like Senator Obama, as more of the same.
Regardless, Senator Obama is not my choice. I shall vote my conscience, Ron Paul - the only one who got it right - and won the first republican debate - hands down.

The nomination of Sarah Palin was one of the most cynical political moves in modern American history. Those who chose her assume that the American public (or at least 51%) are truly ignorant.
