and is it possible to store full hd movies on it ?
cuz i use my imac 27" and is full now i need a server for it so i can fill it with music photos and movies so is it possible to store it there and get it to work with a jailbroken apple tv ? now works for me but i donno about osx server
The UD2 had very little driver hassle at the time of the build. I think I just needed the LAN kext and it was all good. It was a while ago though and I'm sure things have changed again - thats just how the hackintosh scene works
It always makes me wonder: what's the reason for this absurdly loud "music" ("thump-thump" noise, rather), that so many YT users feel obliged to add to their videos?
Aesthetics aside, I could hardly make out what the author was saying (I'm not native English speaker) - at times that "music" was significantly louder than his speech.
Sorry for that rant, but THIS video is, to me, a prime example of how one can ruin, for no sensible reason, otherwise quite informative presentation.
Yes, I agree: Mindenki másképp csinálja ;-P (Hey, I just said I'm NOT native Englsh speaker - I never said I'm French).
But your remark is as much true, as it is irrelevant: the main point of my post was not the "niceness" of the music itself, or lack of thereof ("aesthetics aside..."), but its loudness, and the result of it - a viewer's (me, in this case) inability to extract the information from what was meant to be, I suppose, an INFORMATIVE video.
(cont'd) difference whether you'd use Mozart or Bach (or Sex Pistols) for the clip if the music would be just too loud. It's about the loudness, not about me liking or disliking your track ("it's called Gi5 - Its one of mine").
And, as I can see, one of the first comments was also about this issue (comment by AZZAKONN).
And YES, this is YOUR video, so you can do as you please - I just wanted to draw your attention to that matter.
It's all up to you. Should you heed my advice - great (...)
@MrKotBonifacy The audio was mixed on Yamaha MP5A active studio monitors and is not bass heavy at all. The audio has bass but is not bass heavy. I always check on at least 3 systems before final mixdown. Sounds to me that even though your english is excellent, your speakers are not or you have the bass turned up too high.
It is not about the "bass" - it's about the "general level" of the music - which is on par with the level of your speech (instead of being ONLY JUST a background to spoken words). And while for natives it might not be a big deal, for majority of non-native speakers such distraction realy hampers understanding of the words that are being said.
My speakers are Cambidge SoundWorks, with subwoofer set at minimal level (approx. 2 on a scale 1-10).
Should you disregard it completely - fine, it's not me who apparently wanted (?) to share some knowledge, but never gave a second thout to something called "clarity of message" and "effective communication".
@A9KSystems Think I could get those instructions? I just found this video, but I actually started a very similar project to what you did. I have a dead G5 gutted, and over the past few months have been setting up the system to go in it. I'm using the same board you have and after a few tried at installing Snow Leopard, I now get the hang of it and it's very easy. Today, after maybe an hour or a little more, I went from a retail 10.6 disc to a full machine with 10.6.6 all things working.
Made a bit of a Frankenstein cable out of one half of the original G5 connecter, some spare bits of wire from an old ATX case and 20 minutes with the soldering iron.
There are plenty of pinout diagrams on the net. Read back through the comments, I think I posted a link to one not too long ago.
Good work, really great, especially in the setting. But .... a question, where have you gotten that box of the tower, because I'm looking for a similar, but I can not find it.
@gtbadbaikilla Yes. There are pinout diagrams available on the net for the G5 front panel so wiring in the front sockets/power switch is not a problem.
Great case mod. One question for you is where did you get that mb tray. I can only find Lian-Li product# LLMOBOTRAY-PC6X which is different than the one you are using. You said it was a Lian-Li product, but it looks to me as a custom fabrication. I am starting my first G5 mod and liked what you did so much that I want to do a similar install with mb tray.
No ladiodog, I state the motherboard tray is from a CoolerMaster Wavemaster. I had to contact Coolermaster European head office in Holland for the part as they are no longer in production but fit perfectly in a G5 mod - the Hard drive cage is Lian-Li, can't remember the code.
Thanks. I don't know how difficult it will be for me to get my hands on one, but I will try. Any recommendations for a more available motherboard tray?
Its always a compomise with case mods. Doing it this way means you can always change out the motherboard at a later date for a full ATX with no spae issues. Personally I don't spend all day staring at the back of any of my machines either.
Haven't tried it. Only use Windows in VM Ware Fusion.
The only reason the Apple logo is not present at boot is the Netkas EFI is set to boot in "verbose" mode. You can change a normal Mac to boot like this too if needed. The Apple logo is just cosmetics and can be put back to default.
It was a matter of price. The Micro Center near me was selling the X58 Pro on clearance, and I was actually able to get one that someone returned, as well, which took close to $50 off. I got the board for a little over $100.
Nice and clean rig, man. I also have a dead g5. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the build cost? Also, how much would you charge for that exact setup? Aloha.
what the fuck is the point?

For some reason Youtube never lets me ad the link to my comment replies.

been thinking about doing this 4 a long time but the back of the G5 case is a big challenge.
Now with this case it will be easier to do it.
good interior bits, especially the HD rack. I think I could put it inside G5 case next to mobo
will go for i5 750 and full ATX mobo GA-P55A-UD3, it is on amazon uk for £104, a bit more than the micro1 u used.
will keep u posted if interested.?
