When Donald Byrd began using syntheziers with the Mizell guys along with funky bass run and rythym guitars, classic jazz particularly among the youth (anywhere from16 - 29 yearsold) did not exist.....Don Byrd introduced a new brand of Jazz to a new generation of listeners.......This went on throughout the 70's...He returned to his roots as the 80's came around............

@unclejohnny777 And as hip hop sampled so much of Donald Byrd's sound it got reintroduced to a new generation of people. I discovered a whole new world of music through Donald Byrd and Bobbi Humphrey all because I saw that it was sampled on an old hip hop song I liked.
