Self-defence is classed as manslaughter not homicide. Less than 200 people were murdered by someone they didn't know last year in the UK, that's out of a population of 65 million. So although the idea of people who are armed breaking into my home is scary, its also very rare.

My dad was a hunter, had shotguns and rifle in the closet. I was teased for being fat from age 10-20. NEVER thought about using a gun in response. In my mind, guns were for hunting animals. Ive been to shooting ranges and talked with some of my friends, one of which is the local sheriff, he said that when he comes across a perp. the gun they carry is rarely theres, its either stolen or from a gun runner, also that sociaty is safer when the burgler doesnt know if the persons house there breaking into has weapons, and when guns are banned, there will still be gun runners, and only the criminals will have arms.
