well i think it might have been in anthony kiedis' autbiography taht i read it, so i cant link you to that but just look around the internet theres bound to be something on it. dont forget im talking about this happening 20 odd years ago.
Ha! I doubt it. I know a number of their influences and why they got together, but I can't believe that the Chili Peppers had something to do with it. I would think people like Neil Young, John Lennon, Buzzcocks, not the Chili Peppers.
well once again, whether you believe it or not has absoloutely no impact on whether its true or not. is was in anthony kiedis' biography or something i read this.
Pearl Jam didn't start out as a RCHP cover band. Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament were in a band called Green River with Mark Arm in Seattle. Then they broke up (Mark Arm went on to form Mudhoney) and Jeff and Stone started another band with Andrew Wood called Mother Love Bone. But then Andrew Wood died and Jeff and Stone got together with Mike McCready and made a demo tape (Matt Cameron of Soundgarden did the drums on it). Jack Irons was a friend of theirs and he passed the demo tape onto another
friend of his, Eddie Vedder, who was the lead singer of a band in San Diego called Bad Radio. Vedder recorded vocals over the demo and sent it back to Jeff and Stone, and they hired him and he quit Bad Radio. Now, Bad Radio started as a RCHP cover band. Not Pearl Jam. You can say Eddie Vedder was once in a band that started as an RCHP cover band, but to say Pearl Jam started as one is incorrect. Pearl Jam started when Stone joined Jeff in Green River. They both have played together since.
You're an idiot if you "think" PJ was a rhcp tribute band. You clearly have no concept of facts or reality. Please, do everyone a favor and do a little research on the topic before you continue to make a complete and utter fool of yourself.
preffer rages version, more ballsey and in tune for a start!

nice try but it sucks. Seattle slackers dont have the chops for this tune.

this has to be one of the most frequently covered songs by big bands, there are so many version and so many are good. such an amazing song.
still find it funny how pearl jam started out as a red hot chili peppers tribute then after jack irons left rhcp he joined pearl jam!
funkyfreshjuice 4 years ago
a tribute band for the Chili Peppers? I don't think so.
