The people who say god bless america are usually conservative, right wing, religious types who want a christian nation. One reason why I never say it.
the soldiers back in NS germany used the term "Gott mit uns" (God with us) as fight slogan - so this kind of arrogance is not specifically american...
America is not a country. USA is a country, America is a continent. Well, it`s to continents. When you say "god bless america", you bless Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Brazil and all the other countries in north- and south America.
This reminds me of a movie I saw years ago, about a black guy running for president (long before Obama) and in his peach he says "So not God Bless America and no place else, but God bless America, AND EVERYWHERE ELSE!" It was followed by a mob of applause.
I'm pretty sure you would be saying "God Bless America" if you were religious, because if you were religious you would be throwing all logic and reason out the window.
