Los angeles, los vegas, san francisco, san diego, santa barbara. most of the cities in the southwestern part of the US are spanish. even states like Colorado (Colored Red), Nevada, New Mexico, Montana (Mountain), California, Florida (flower). most cities have a completely american origin

You should mention the fact that Humphry Davy originally called the metal "alumium" and then settled on "aluminum" before he was cowed into another name change to "aluminium" because it sounded "more classical". And there's no definitive reason why "aluminum" was "originally" changed in the U.S. But if "aluminium" is correct because it was popular with scientists then the popularity of "aluminum" should hold it's own weight in the correctness forum.
