LOL:D Thanks for my time?? Thanks for YOUR time!!!! Free lessions are awesome!!! And as for the gum, I didn't even notice it until I read the other comments, LOL:D
Hi im a beginner and when i went to tune my cello the C string popped off my peg i fixed it and barley tightened it and it broke.......... wat do you suggest to do
You are truly a cool teacher and beginning students are the most in need of those to start forming good habits. My elementary school cello teacher use to talk about contact points and channels . Like very much your exp. of complex overtones of sounds. I use to call it the sound layering of overtones. ....Love this teaching video..Very generous to give of your time so freely through this new technology making available to those without possibly the means for good lessons to come their way.
Very true, ChuuMei. When the wood ages, it dries out more and sounds richer. It's true on guitars and basses too. This is why vintage instruments are so sought after.
Fascinating. I took private lessons for years and no one told me about bow placement/contact point. I just bought a new cello and it sounds too penetrating. I'm just too close to the bridge- thanks for the tip!
ok great advice! I was wondering if youve played Bach's Suite no. 1 because im staring to play it and i woul really like for you to tape a video of it with different usefull techniques on position changing, the bow and the dinamics..please TNXS!
I really enjoyed your video. This is the first time I've heard of the plucking trick. I will try that. My biggest problem right now is good sound production so I will try the tone exercise and hope for the best!
Really like the videos. Like a lot of folks, I played the violin for many years as a youngster and, in moving to the cello, found it very (very) challenging to get a clear crisp tone every time. Is the issue usually in the left hand pressure on the string? The pressure on the bow? Could you consider a video on that topic?
I have no idea about how to "produce" sounds and music, got no clue about harmonics and rhythm, but I think that the Cello is the most beautiful instrument.
Yes, even a total music n00b enjoys this video. Fanx!
I am a guitarist, I play big band classics. I am an old man now but I do still play. I just wanted to tell you that I believe the "CELLO" is the most versatile and fascinating instrument I have ever heard. When it come's to movies, where in this world would we be without the "CELLO"? To me, "CELLO" players are the greatest and most imaginative of all musicians. Bless you.
I have just bought a cello, and starting to teach myself as i also play violin and viola. I was searching for some tips across youtube and came across your posts i think they are really helpful and thankyou for posting them and taking your time for others to get great tips too! It has really helped alot! i am learning so much! Thanks once again.
I'm a composer and I'm really glad to have found your videos because i'm learning a lot by watching your lessons. Have you done anything about advanced techniques? Thanx
I am a composer, can do a video on extended techniques, like sul ponticello, and Bartok pizz, harmonics, tapping the strings with the wood, col legno,
Hello, do you sell your videos? on dvd? can you send me one in that case? i need a dvd for beginners, middle and advance, im studing cello but my teacher never told me that, you´re amazing!
Please, i hope you can respond me, paty _ padill in hot mail.
Yes I agree of what often said. Alot of times when I start I have this scratchy noise at the frog of the bow when I start. Now could it be too much rosin, not enough hair, etc. So I will try that technique. Thank you.
I love the cello! ~ ♥ Now all I have to do is get my hands on one...

That's quite interesting.
Your gum annoys me so much though. It really takes away from the video. You're good otherwise.

note;; i heard that the older the cello is ( for example 10 years old ) the better it sounds. c:
but i'm not quite sure how it works, & if it is true.
