All well and good but I suspect it's more common for cable mounts to break on glass support brackets made of plastic. That's what happened in my situation. It's a $6 part (the glass support bracket) but dealerships and parts stores only sell the regulators ($80-$190).
Thanks, worked on my 2003 Econoline Conversion Van, I wish this was first result of a search on "Power Window" but you still saved me lots of money, time and headache! The world needs more people like you.
that looks like a grandam could anybody tell me why on the 98 grand am the powersterring pump keeps breakn the shaft i had a mecanic put 2 on it in a year its run off the camshaft
motor is getting bound up, its the same concept of taping a starter and making it work, needs replaced before you get stuck with it down in a rain storm..
Another thing that works, if slamming the door doesn't do the trick, is to hit the window motor with a hammer. Of course you have to pull the door panel off and the plastic insulation. I have unstuck several car windows this way. Just tap it a few times--while holding the button--harder and harder, until it unsticks. TheBROY is right, btw, the motor is going bad. May work for a few years still, but it is definitely getting old and arthritic.
dude wen i saw this video , i was no way. and my window on 01 ponitac am , was stuck so i tried it nd bamm it work i wass omg i got to thank you man , caus it was getting hot in the car. omg THANK YOU!
@mvang01@RocketFast321 motor is going bad, going down, the motor has gravity and the weight of the window helping it, going up, it has to fight itself, and it means your motor is getting weak.....
I had a same problem. It cause more problem if it won't close, what I did was I hit lower part of door with my hand (fist) hard when I still holding down close switch. (be careful to press down right button in this case close button)
I had this exact problem on my 2006 Grand Caravan. Watched this video, followed the steps and it worked like a charm! Thanks! This saved me hours of work.
@gasdorf The same thing is happening to me too. The back passenger window won't roll back up even if I shut and opened that door. Is there a motor on all four doors or just one on the driver's door? But the thing is the other three electric windows are working perfectly fine. I thought the glass shifted somehow and it is not in its place. Am I thinking about this correctly?
Tried this on my 01 Intrepid and it didn't work but it inspired me to bang on the inside door panel about 6 - 8 inches from the speaker while holding the switch on and BINGO! Thanks! You saved me some dough!
I wish I saw this before I paid some guy a lot of money to fix my car window

either the motor, or a bad or loose connection

worked. the concept is to jiggle the loose connection until it completes the circuit. great temp fix until I can take my door panel off. Thanks!

gasdorf 1 year ago
@gasdorf the door being shut does not have anything to do with it. It's the motor
