I was planning on buying an apc40 but was wondering because other vids show it bully selecting the track by each but your video the buttons go across as if in a bar is this the monome effect or can you do this normally on an apc40 as it looks a lot easier to use that way?

Can you save it as you play a different step in the sequence? or does it only play it when you push the buttons? Like if it's playing 1234123412341234 then you push 132131321311 is there a way to safe it on that line as what you've just played? I'm pretty sure monome's can do that.

@Darkness2181 Not possible with this set up. You can manually dial in actions but you can't record them real time.

I've been trying for days/hours to try and replicate this. I don't see how having the tracks operate horizontally in live is possible without doing midi mappings using a virtual midi port. Is this how you accomplished this or am I still missing something? (Follow actions cannot trigger adjacent tracks! ARGH)

I play hour to four hour sets. It's not really a template. It's so straight fwd. I tried to explain.

i mean i have a sample cut up into 8 sections and i have quarter note follow actions on it on one track and i have the same sections layed out in one row with the midi mapped to the same buttons as the follow action clips are...

this is giving me the ability to play the follow actions the same way you are but i am not getting any lights for some reason...

You can remap it any way you want. I just use ableton remap midi mode.

Not really giving away my template but... It's all follow actions and midi map. Re map each button horizontally in a follow action sequence and that's it!

Yeah, the faders and everything still works. It's a bit of a pain to try and maintain the APC/LIVE handshake with this set up though.
