If you are going to make monks for your Ito invasion, then just accept the Namban trade. At least your monks will have some experience when they sent to Kyushu and the revolts will give your troops experience and the Matchlocks Ashigaru are an awesome plus. So its like killing 3 birds with one stone. so i say do it, but have at least 2 monks ready.
on a more serious note, the nanban trade ships have 1 enormous advantage for you, they are trade ships that can hold there own against every other ship, get 2 of them in every trade fleet and it is protected givin you fight the battles yourself
@lionheartx10 it won't be that big of a problem now, you are on a island and when you upgraded the castle's the repression + exampt form tax combo should be good enouf to keep them relaxed until christianitie reaches over 50%. the only problem is that expanding wil take more time + you get like -10 or -20 diplomatic relations for changing faith.
I love the fact that your the only lets player who doesnt start his vids by saying his name or a small greeting but goes HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!! really loud XDDD
On the other hand a Christian Daimyo loses out on the ability to train the formidable monk units. The campaign is likely to play out a little slower than a traditional Shinto Clan's, for the simple reason that you will need to be converting population and constructing Chapels to maintain a reasonable level of happiness before moving your army onwards. A Clan cannot change back to Buddhism once their Daimyo has chosen Christianity until that Daimyo is dead and his heir assumes the ruling postion.
Can someone tell me what is the max upgrade for your castle? Is it the fortress? If it is does it need food to maintain it? If it doesn't then Lionheart should upgrade all of his castles to a fortress. Thumbs up if he should do it if it doesn't eat away at his food supply!!
The max upgrade is a Citadel which requires the research of Epic Architecture. In fact the more you upgrade, the more food is required to maintain these new bastions of defence and fortification :P I'll be upgrading my forts and strongholds anyway but at the same time upgrading my farms to make sure I still keep a good supply of surplus food coming in.
I think the reason that poeple don't want to trade with you is because your trade partner the Kikawa; they are generally hated by the other surrounding clans. So cancel the trade agreement with them and i think you can get trade agreements with the other clans, unless you plan to kill them then don't bother, we don't want you wreck your Daminyo's honor like your last campaign.
Feel free to take your time, it is an empire building game after all. That way you can have bigger battles with bigger armies against bigger enemies. The more epicness (is that even a word ) the better.

If you adopt Christianity, upgrade your Nanban Port to a Nanban Quarter and will receive a notification to do of this.
The advantages of a Nanban quarter are:
3 possible sea trade routes, increasing the # of other clans you can get trade with.
+25 town growth per turn to the province, Improves the export capacity, increasing trade value of the goods you are trading to others by +200 Koku.
+1 port's recruitment slot
Allows recruitment :Matchlock Ashigaru Nanban Trade Ship and cannons

The advantages of the Nanban port are as follows:
+2 possible sea trade routes, increasing the number of other clans you can get trade agreements with.
+10% town growth per turn to the province, increasing income in the long run
Improves the export capacity, therefore increasing trade value of the goods you are trading to others by +120 Koku.
Increases the port's recruitment capacity by 1 slot
Allows for the recruitment of Imported Matchlock Ashigaru.
