If I learned how to count to pretty much any number in German in a few days then learning Japanese will be easier than I thought ^_^ I can use the methods that my teacher used to make me learn German, but use the Japanese language and characters instead :D No doubt it's going to be a pain...being on my fourth year of German class next school-year and learning Japanese on the side....
Two sets of pronunciations for the numerals exist in Japanese, one is based on Sino-Japanese (on'yomi) readings of the Chinese characters and the other is based on the Japanese kun'yomi readings.
The little rap you made for 1-20 was much more helpful. It had the how to spell it with Roman letters and Japanese. I think it helped more--could you make more things like that?
THIS LANGUAGE IS SO MESSED UP

4四yonPreferred reading-
shi / しyon, yo(ttsu) / よん、よ(っつ-
Because of the way they have been adopted into Japanese
From the point of view of the reader, kanji are said to have one or more different "readings"-

@afromeda 4 is both Shi and Yon.
LylaDagger 2 years ago
@LylaDagger but yon is the correct term for an amount thats have more than one number eg. 74
Ghostbuddy1999 1 week ago
@afromeda At First Its Shi Then Its Yon Weird Huh
pikchupower47477 5 months ago
@afromeda I am learning, i found out that just the one number for four= chi
if four is with a another number e.g. 24, it would always be yon.

great now i know how to count to 99 lol
uummmmmmm 4 years ago
how do the numbers after 30 go? do they follow that pattern?
starkle16 4 years ago
Yes they do, but I will try to add more later
LearnFree2007 4 years ago
i think its just the number and 10.
so like 35 would be 'san jyu go' (cuz 'san' is 3; 'jyu' is 10; and 'go' is 5)and 50 would be 'go jyu' (cuz 'go' is 5; and 'jyu' is 10)
i dunno if that makes sense but...
Chi101887 4 years ago 3
Yes, that's correct. Like 97 would be kyu ju nana.
