@WarGoatForestWolf666 They were or in my case: are. Siouxsie Sioux was infact part of the bromley contingent which was the first group of Sex Pistols fans, she was around during the first and perhaps "true" wave of punk, Blondie (even though I dislike her) was very much a part of the punk scene although I think she was more geared towards the american wave (the ramones, the stooges, richard hell). I used to think punk was dyed hair and ubeat anthems but to me it's about: standing out,
@WarGoatForestWolf666 being yourself and being creative yet saying fuck off to the system! That's my idea of punk and I'm only 16. Tartan pants and leather jackets are cool but they are just a walking cliche, I believe someone can be just as punk with ripped jeans and a ripped t-shirt.
The rest seems to be some variation of this. No idea on the little parts in between... Anyone got anything else to say on this matter? I'm bad at tabbing by ear so I could be wrong. I'm rather tone deaf.
Studded leather jackets, dock marten boots, bondage pants, ripped T shirts, last nights beer and chips on the floor and a poster of Siouxie above your bed. Ahhh...... memories of youth.
@MrDacioss Listen to the bass player, it'll tell you most of what you need to know. They're all major chords. You could probably get away with power chords but it would make it sound more hardcore/aggressive. Sounds like the root chord is A.
why do the words green day appear in the comments here? i'm highly skeptical they're even qualified to hold a can of hairspray, and to include them in the same sentence as punk ... just please man.
I remember me and me cousin jumping about like loonies to this in front of me mam nd dad! They just looked at us in awe! I was only 13! Nd 13stone to match! Best way to loose weight, gan on Robert give it some!!!!! Classic tune.
sid vicious was on drums(: theres a long ass history behind sid and his originals, those who saw sid and nancy dont know shit unless they know about siouxsie
The best song this massively overrated band put together, most of the rest is just instantly forgetable... if you really try hard enough, and considering the material there's plenty of incentive. Love the guy doing the embarassing dad at the party dance.
Some idiot messaged me and said Robert Smith isn't in this video LOL. Robert Smith played guitar for the band on the 1979 tour in support of Join Hands, the bands second album, because guitarist John McKay had quit two days into promoting the album. The Cure happened to be opening for the Banshees on this tour, so Smith just played sets with each band.
Siouxsie's ego got the best of her, when at a record store signing in Scotland they run out of records to sign,as a polydor rep was there Morris and McKay decided to start signing the records in the back of his car and give em away to the fans,Siouxsie went apeshit, don't know why as they were promo records to be given away anyway.both Morris and McKay quit on the spot,so Smith and Budgie where quickly brought in.
Siouxsie And The Banshees started a whole generation? You have to be kidding. Art school kids playing at being rebels and that got binned at the first opportunity. Remember Siouxise's fur photo shoot? Decent band but generation leaders..hardly.
I said they were a decent band but hardly generation leaders. Many bands have made albums on that level and far better, if you can't recognise that then its simply because you don't want to.
the only other artists i can think of with a comparable quality of musicianship and energy are undeniable generation leaders like bowie or the beatles. i guess in the end it's a matter of taste.
Right so the Banshees contributed more than say.. The Clash or The Strangers or The Jam or.. ah hey.. you get the point, as you say a matter of taste.
ok, i'll give you the clash. they rule. but the jam? come on, they're basically a second-rate reincarnation of the kinks. i mean, they're OK, but that's like mentioning m. night shyamalan in the same sentence as hitchcock.
God! This Banshees lineup was wonderful!!! Robert Smith as a Banshee is amazing. Siouxsie, Budgie, and Steve Severin were always just brilliant together, but with Robert, this band was more than elite.
woohoo! ...who's that on guitar eh?! ...cheeky little Robert Smith if i'm very much not mistaken!! ...no doubt picking up Goth tips off Miss Sioux for future use!!
Only decent song this bunch of poseur crap had. Still, at least she gave thousands of middle class girls a rebel look for their two years of annoying mummy and daddy.
One of my favorite early Siouxsie songs !!! I had the opportunity to meet here in San Fran a while back while her and Budgie were signing for The Creatures. She was not too friendly but Budgie was awesome. I still love her though !!!
I love that ive seen a hundred different performances... but steve severin is in every single one. I believe hes just as important as siouixe. But of course she rules!!!
Sorry, R. Smith was not part of Banshees' band at that time. In fact, he hasn't been really part of them, but helped them in case of need when they missed a guitar player for live performance.
