  • is that budgie on drums?....if it is, didn't kno he could play drums like that

  • sto0 si es rock carajo0

  • Haha... she just plops down on the ground and throws the microphone at the end! haha. Oh, Siouxsie...

  • Remember this on the box _ had a crush in those days!

  • Fuck Blondie, theres the queen of punk right there

  • @Blackmilk81 ...I agree considereing I adore Debbie Harry and co. Siouxsie Sioux just has more edgy, substance for lack of a better word.

  • @Blackmilk81 Blondie is punk? Siouxsie Sioux is punk? You old people have a different idea of punk I suppose.

  • @WarGoatForestWolf666 Different compared to what?

The current generation that thinks generic corporate rock bands are "punk" if they die their hair and make upbeat anthems?

  • @WarGoatForestWolf666 They were or in my case: are. Siouxsie Sioux was infact part of the bromley contingent which was the first group of Sex Pistols fans, she was around during the first and perhaps "true" wave of punk, Blondie (even though I dislike her) was very much a part of the punk scene although I think she was more geared towards the american wave (the ramones, the stooges, richard hell). I used to think punk was dyed hair and ubeat anthems but to me it's about: standing out,

  • @WarGoatForestWolf666 being yourself and being creative yet saying fuck off to the system! That's my idea of punk and I'm only 16. Tartan pants and leather jackets are cool but they are just a walking cliche, I believe someone can be just as punk with ripped jeans and a ripped t-shirt.

  • @Blackmilk81 Agreeed! As Johnny Rotten said: "Blondie's a dobbin." xD

  • Robert Smith on the guitar! :)

  • Looking out for John McGeoch and it's Robert Smith...McGeoch must have joined shortly afterwards

  • @aliceval I think he is playing an Ovation Breadwinner. Great song !

  • Ooooh...Robert melt!

  • theres a blast...45 now n still same.

  • And for me sums the real punk ethos, who cares,he's just from the office or decided to dress up that way,who cares, unlike now, with all the razzmatazz!

  • The kid dancing on the side is great

  • Join Hands is a great album anfd the Banshees werea FUN band... distrust who claims otherwise

  • She's sexy stylish and cute even now...and the music is great too

  • GREAT!

  • i still go "appe shit" with this music!

  • is there someone who can tell me what guitar is playing robert smith?

  • Debbie harry...One of my all time favorites!! She looks great with black hair too!!!

  • still in love with siouxsie after all these years

  • Great.

  • Don't understand one fucking word but that doesn't matter

  • My fav band of all time.

  • Primeiro show das gringa que aportou em Santos. I remember...

  • I am writing a song about Siouxsie, one of the best singers ever to exist.

  • If it's true that history repeats itself

Let's hope it happens sooner than later.

    Lipstick Traces.

  • Dogs................

  • yeah thats totally bob.

  • i love live versions like this one.

  • siouxsie e geniale!!

  • I'm working on figuring this out.

I think the main riff/verse is something like...

    Open A

    Bar C

    Bar B

    Bar G#

    Bar G

The rest seems to be some variation of this. No idea on the little parts in between... Anyone got anything else to say on this matter? I'm bad at tabbing by ear so I could be wrong. I'm rather tone deaf.

  • ASS KILLER !!!!

  • Ahhh... to be 12 again and seeing this on TV for the first time!

  • Darkthrone's cover is quite amusing when you think about it.

  • @Nannirk Correct, and that's because Ted and Fenriz know their old school music very well.

  • so awesome! i am a huge fan of robert and siouxsie, so thanks!

  • Studded leather jackets, dock marten boots, bondage pants, ripped T shirts, last nights beer and chips on the floor and a poster of Siouxie above your bed. Ahhh...... memories of youth.

  • cant even recognize Robert Smith

  • tanks...

  • I love her man! She is so beautiful and love her voice man! Ohhh Yeahhh

  • im so DARK..look at my vids

  • someone have the tab of this music, i know is easy but!?

  • @MrDacioss Listen to the bass player, it'll tell you most of what you need to know. They're all major chords. You could probably get away with power chords but it would make it sound more hardcore/aggressive. Sounds like the root chord is A.

  • @thatentrenchingtool tanks....

  • Voilà l'ultime machine à pogoter:le son des Banshees!

  • watch budgie pound away.... rocking or what?

  • Fucking hell she was so raw then!

  • @lewisner She still is! :)

  • why do the words green day appear in the comments here? i'm highly skeptical they're even qualified to hold a can of hairspray, and to include them in the same sentence as punk ... just please man.

  • "Running with dogs and they're not biting!"

  • I love siouxsie & love this video but I find she sings wrong here. she's about to burst..!

  • lol yes he is they used to play together all the time!

  • love siouxsie, but Robert Smith is a c*nt

  • @tstsullivan797 Well ... he was a Cunt.... but then he knacked Mecha-Streisand, so he's OK in my book ;-)

  • @Loobs666 yes, no-one's completely useless!!

  • what happened Robert? you used to be so cute!

  • I remember me and me cousin jumping about like loonies to this in front of me mam nd dad! They just looked at us in awe! I was only 13! Nd 13stone to match! Best way to loose weight, gan on Robert give it some!!!!! Classic tune.

  • exelent

  • sid vicious was on drums(: theres a long ass history behind sid and his originals, those who saw sid and nancy dont know shit unless they know about siouxsie

  • punk♥

  • ガツ-------------------ンときた!!!!

    この胸にせまってくるスージーのパフォーマンスは凄い!!

  • Siouxsie Sioux fuckin rocks! I love her!

  • Robert's best feature, his craggy legs <3

  • @TheDandyRogues yea gotta love them !

  • It's Smith's guitar. . . .still plays it today.

  • Robert Smith <3

  • Absolutely brilliant.

  • brilliant

  • punk!

  • best version ever!!

  • Some idiot messaged me and said Robert Smith isn't in this video LOL. Robert Smith played guitar for the band on the 1979 tour in support of Join Hands, the bands second album, because guitarist John McKay had quit two days into promoting the album. The Cure happened to be opening for the Banshees on this tour, so Smith just played sets with each band.

  • Siouxsie's ego got the best of her, when at a record store signing in Scotland they run out of records to sign,as a polydor rep was there Morris and McKay decided to start signing the records in the back of his car and give em away to the fans,Siouxsie went apeshit, don't know why as they were promo records to be given away anyway.both Morris and McKay quit on the spot,so Smith and Budgie where quickly brought in.

  • @IExHC he is!

  • @IExHC I remember that, saw them in Southampton on that tour, Robert Smith was amazing in both sets, and Paul Cook was propping up the bar!

  • @IExHC no shit

  • @IExHC wait a sec its all in the shoes i dont see those shitty white reebok high tops that robert allways wears lmfao

  • I could easily see Devo singing this song!

  • THat MaKeZZ UU a sTupid KUNT.... MY DEAR...

  • I love Siouxie!!!!!

  • LOVE. THIS. SONG.

  • this band started a whole generation, fucking great song.

  • come back when you've made an album on a level with juju, the scream, or a kiss in the dreamhouse.

  • I said they were a decent band but hardly generation leaders. Many bands have made albums on that level and far better, if you can't recognise that then its simply because you don't want to.

  • the only other artists i can think of with a comparable quality of musicianship and energy are undeniable generation leaders like bowie or the beatles. i guess in the end it's a matter of taste.

  • Right so the Banshees contributed more than say.. The Clash or The Strangers or The Jam or.. ah hey.. you get the point, as you say a matter of taste.

  • ok, i'll give you the clash. they rule. but the jam? come on, they're basically a second-rate reincarnation of the kinks. i mean, they're OK, but that's like mentioning m. night shyamalan in the same sentence as hitchcock.

  • They are (were) wonderful!

  • Budgie's face! Looks like he wondering what he'd got himself into - just in terms of tempi of course! Brilliant.

  • God! This Banshees lineup was wonderful!!! Robert Smith as a Banshee is amazing. Siouxsie, Budgie, and Steve Severin were always just brilliant together, but with Robert, this band was more than elite.

  • Shes such an inspiration to me.

  • and me and me. amazing woman

  • as always Budgie is a killer on drums

  • have this on cassette via John Peel Sessions, amazing!

  • Steve Severin is great on bass as always.

  • woohoo! ...who's that on guitar eh?! ...cheeky little Robert Smith if i'm very much not mistaken!! ...no doubt picking up Goth tips off Miss Sioux for future use!!

  • fucking amazing!!!!!

  • !!!!!!!Siouxsie

    she is great!!!!

  • Hahahaha oh come on man, where is sid? for reals?

  • Wow the year I was born...they don't make bands like this anymore.

    Rober Smith is amazingggggggggggggg.

  • Are you serious,GordonsAllSeeingEye? The music they produced after this was/is amazing!

  • hum, what kind of guitar bob smith use!??

  • It's an Ovation Breadwinner

  • If I go the little bar...and Siouxsie is squirming, and screaming like this video.Ah. I musn't be in the clouds...:(

  • congratulations. today this video was selected by the NYC Punk Rock Evolution Foundation.

  • whats that?

  • maybe the Punk Rock Evolution Foundation in New York City?

    lolll.

  • The guy with the skinny black tie?

  • she puts an interesting spin on punk. her music got much better tho when focused.

  • great early stuff, much more brilliant than Sex Pistols, you should hear the real thing, think its from their album "The Scream"

  • Goddess!

  • Great fuckin Music

  • Absolutely fucking Brilliant, Siouxsie is thee koolest ^___^

  • Sex Pistols with talent basically. I remember this song when it came out... giving away my age I suppose. Great to see on youtube!

  • she's so unhappy

  • Ok kids this is punk rock of the 70's long before Greenday

  • They were WAY before Garbage and YYY's

  • Greenday is NOTHING compared to this :)

  • pukeday is nothing in general

  • lol true

  • @xGoMxMAGGOT its true greenday is shit

  • love this lady

  • Long live the queen!!!!!!!

  • i want to learn how to dance like that guy in the background with the white shirt and tie :P

  • Darkthrone made such a ossom cover. However this is awesome too

  • omg robert looks so young..and hot

  • i know huh?

  • so classic

  • One of my favorite early Siouxsie songs !!! I had the opportunity to meet here in San Fran a while back while her and Budgie were signing for The Creatures. She was not too friendly but Budgie was awesome. I still love her though !!!

  • I love Debbie Harry too.

  • awesome video of siouxsie when she rocked... now she can not sing two notes together!!!but i still love her... and debbie harry too

  • um, last i heard debbie harry sing she couldn't hold one fucking note and she is a fat cow..

  • Siouxsie is the best female singer in the world (Britney, Cristina Aguilera and Shakira sucks!)

  • Not only is Siouxsie the best... She's the only female singer in the world who can actually sing ^^

  • what's you view on the girl that sang with X-Ray Spex?

  • Siouxsie is THE best! Saw her in concert with the Banshees and just with drummer Budgie as The Creatures. So amazing!

  • ...who knows what drugs she had thrown, hehe

    anyway, Siouxie rulez !!!

  • siouxsie ... great....

  • I like the picture of Mary Whitehouse next to the picture of Siouxsie in the background!

  • Love this song, love her. couldnt' find the darkthrone version (not into daeth metal) but love the Nadsat Fashion version.

  • Darkthrone does a good cover of this.

  • I love how she just flops down and tossed the mic at the end. x3

  • i wonder if the mic stand hit anyone. Hope so LOL

  • are robert smiths pants pulled up high enough?

  • teeheehee

  • I love this raw energy. Siouxsie looks and sounds like she could kick the crap out of you.

  • picture this..every 14 yr old schoolboys fantasy.. debbie harry and siouxie sioux...yum

  • Do you know, I think she has made some valid points in this lovley song!

  • OMG!!!!!!! My fav song!!!!!!!!!!

  • mine 2

  • TOTAL POWER!!!!!!!!!!

  • The backdrop to the right of the stage features Siouxsie's head from Join Hands, placing the performance in 1979, Bob Smith notwithstanding.

  • Just brilliant.....I love this song...

  • I love that ive seen a hundred different performances... but steve severin is in every single one. I believe hes just as important as siouixe. But of course she rules!!!

  • Wish their stuff had stayed this raw for a few more albums...

  • Even with the dismal audio, the young Budgie's drumming is a steamroller.

  • YES, Robert Smith was in the Banshees in 1979.

    http://www.picturesofyou.us/siouxsie/sioux-thumb.htm

  • Sorry, R. Smith was not part of Banshees' band at that time. In fact, he hasn't been really part of them, but helped them in case of need when they missed a guitar player for live performance.

On side note, the very and only association made between Robert Smith and a Siouxsie & the Banshees' member (Steven Severin) was the LP named "Blue sunshine" of The Glove.
