Yeeeeeeeeah ummm all the guys just watched this video because it was a good song right? I mean, yeah it was. It really had nothing to do with Dale's outfit.....right?
I had to fold my arms around my chest so i could breathe - the crowd was that big and was just squeezing everyone at the front from behind. Eventually the band finished and I was able to get back to my friends etc. But faar out it was great. I also went to Cal Jam2 but this was better.
The closest I got to the stage was on the 'New Wave' night. I think Men At Work were the final band... I found if you follow behind hot girls all the guys parted the crowd for them, and I followed a few groups of them til I was 1-person from immediately stage front. It was a massive crowd squeezing from all sides and hard to breathe mainly hot carbon monoxide air - i'm 6 feet & had to get on my tip toes to get fresh air. Girls were passing out & being passed over the rail to security.
I went for all 3 days and slept in a tent just outside. I still remember walking 'up the hill' each morning to get in. It was baking hot. I found a huge plastic water bottle and was mr popularity wandering around giving people drinks. People were selling all kinds of whacky stuff and I got blazed out of my mind just outside the beer area...(at least i think there was a beer area - i was blazed remember...)
One of all time FAV missing persons songs!! I listen to something from Spring Session M and the Best of Missing Persons almost dialy!! NEVER GETS OLD!! STILL SO EDGE ALMOST 3 DECADES AFTER THE FACT!!
I remember learning this solo on the tape. I rewound it over and over to get it just right. This was one of the first recordings I geeked out like that with. Then it was onto John Bonham and Stewart Copeland.
@Gretschdrums75 Its interesting that you went from Bozzio to Bonham and Copeland. Terry owns both of them combined. I am a fan of Bonham and Copeland (more). After learning Bozzio....John and Stewart should be easy ;)
@nopast68 Terry owns them in technique but not overall. That is just a stupid comment. Bonzo was the only drummer who could have played in Zeppelin. Same with Stew and the Police. Same with Ringo in the Beatles. Bozzio was not so hard to replace in Zappa was he? Vinnie did just fine. So did Chad. Bozzio is a freakin monster but so were they in their own right. Come down off your techniquesville high horse dude. Buddy Rich owned them all and still does. I also loved Cobham and Tony Williams.
@Gretschdrums75 As I said before, your comment was stupid. I pity you man. I'd love to see you play some day. I bet you are awesome by the way. Nice comment too. I didn't flag it btw. Someone else did. I actually thumbed down my own comment because I was kinda harsh but stupid is stupid you know?
@Gretschdrums75 You know what....I removed my comment because I realized there was no point in replying to your meaningless post. Yet once again you posted something. Apparently you are looking for a fight. Lets think about this for a second. I post a reply based on my OWN personal opinion. It was not hateful by any means...just an opinion. You go on to say that my post is "stupid" and also that "you pity me". Who is the one that should really have the pity. LOL...u ingnorant fool.
Nope on the Copeland. I feel he has equal status here as far as unique sound. I agree with Grestch in heading out to other styles. Speed and scope is one thing but unique sound is another. But must add that from 2:57 Terry rules on this one.
Yea, I remember this! I remember her great,... eyes! lol. I went to both US Festivals when I was in the Marine Corps. We slept in our cars. $23 bucks each day for the tickets I think it was. Very hot n humid, and lots of grass passed around. On one day we sat next to David Gilmour. In 83 we stood behind Stevie Nicks for a few hours. Had a full dresser Honda next to us that shuttled beer and ice in. We sold it from the trunk of the car. Had a great time! DVD's are available out there now.
Dale is absolutely hilarious---I love her! She's not really a "musician" in the same class as the others, but she's the best DALE there ever was! That squeak is priceless.
Right on man! Where did you get this footage?? New Wave kind of got thrown under the bus by the critis (though all critics are posing losers who never had the guts or talent to take their own shot). But there was much talent here w/solid lyrics, great musicians who've worked multiple genres. Any Terry fans who haven't done so, check out his effort in Jeff Beck's Guitar Shop, esp. behind the veil.
Oh yeah and Warren Cuccurullo's guitar works is some of my favorite of all time! I really like Missing Persons'/Dale's lyrics & Patric O' Hearn's keyboard/synthwork too. When will we all help cultivate each others talents, appreciate one another, and be as cool as these motherfuckers!?
Feces is black. What are you defending? Your love of nigger and mystery meat trash? You think it's cool to be politically correct? Have some pride in your race and heritage.
@ErikOosterwal Then that would be 2 renowned non new wave rock & roll acts at that concert. Wow! What a power punch of talent. I'd love to see something matching that today. Bet it'll never happen again.
After reading some (not all—who has time??) of the comments comparing Dale and Gwen, let me just say it's okay to think both are talented and attractive without disrespecting one or the other.
I also was there. One of the best days of the three All the bands where good I thought U2 was the Best. Then again Stevie Ray Vaughan with David Bowie His guitar playing on Lets Dance Was Unforgetable What a Day.
yea remember the huge fire hoses spraying every one because of the heat.i was eleven and i can even remember this is the first time i saw breasts from this girl right behind me flashing everyone..good times..US 83 forever
I remember whatching the Us Festival live all weekend on MTV back in the day. I thought all I had was memories of it. It's nice to know that there is this medium now that lets me watch some of this again. This is the best footage I have ever seen of Missing Persons. Sounds great and Dale is so sexy.
I was at the US Fest, and remember the show so well. My favorite acts of the entire three day weekend were Missing Persons, David Bowie, and surprisingly enough, Men at Work, whom displayed fabulous musicianship. And despite thier pop-hits they proved to have some depth. The guy that played alto flute was especially talented.
I also remember seeing Stevie Nicks, and not being impressed at all.
They were singing about Windows and the Internet long before it was ever conceived. Way, way, way ahead of there time. By the way that's a blue tooth in her ear. You go Dale. Futurist for sure.
and to think windows os wasnt even around back then, remember the apple setups towards the back of the concert, i saw steve wozniak there with steve jobs..my uncle told me years later it was them i was only 11 back then what did i know
i know i mich rather like now when all radio and music is done with a computer and a rapper. back in the 80s people new how to play there music and they had differenmt personalitys i like how everything is easy and safe and no one trys anything new. its so safe and nice and rap hmmmm yea there are some real musicions in rap today which meens there are real musicions on the radio. so glad the 80s are over it was all about trying new things yuk. like same and safe.
the Best performers of that Festival!! Dale's oufits, hair and voice combined with the Boys' musical talents nad hairstyles!! There was this Red Bird Dancin dude who deserved more recognition also!!
Well, I just saw Missing Persons (Dale only)2 nights ago. The band she has now is very tight and the drummer handled all (nearly) the Terry nuances very well. I was about 10 feet from her. She still looks pretty damn hot but, she is kinda looped out now. She seemed a bit disconnected. Still fun though. And yeah, Terry was great with U.K.
The US Festival only lasted 2 years '82-'83. 82 was a 3 day event on Labor Day Weekend. 83 was 4 days on Memorial Day weekend. Yes both Berlin and Missing Persons played on Monday in 83
those arent Stretch Marks you IDIOT those are the clear straps to her Bra and What do you look like Faggot? Probably a fifty year old man with balls sagging down to your knees huh??? Ha,ha,ha...LOSER
Dale Bozzio Blows Gwen Steffani Away in Looks, Singing,Style and originality !!! Missing Persons you all Kicked no Doubts Talentless Butt :) Cucurrullo and Terry Bozio were the Heavy hitters in this band along with Dale the sex godess
I love this band. Terry Bozzio influenced my drumming, what a pioneer of drumming and of reinventing the drum set every few years. Patrick O'Hearn went on to do new age music. His best new age CD is "Rivers gonna rise". Dale sure has a hot body in this video!!!! I wish I could've been at the US festival to see them. Way ahead of their time. Love it!!!!
I also see Dale and automatically think that Gwen must've been heavily influenced by her. Though, I do like Gwen and think she adds her own spin to the look and sound.
Hairbands77 your stupid name says it ALL. You obviously have no clue as to what real musicians are dumbass. Youre just another hair metal retard that listens to poison and ratt. LMAO.
Omg, Terry Bozzio is one of the best drummers ever.. Missing Persons was a VERY tight band . No band has ever come close to their unique sound... I almost got to see them live in 1983 but My mom said I was too young . But in 1997 I finally saw them , different line up though, No Terry Or Warren or Patrick & etc, only Dale.. Good show either way, but I still would of loved to see them from this 1983 era because I'm a Warren & Terry fan.
Um... band sucks? Terry Bozzio? Warren Cuccurillo? Patrick O'Hearn? Yeah, those Zappa cats need to get some music lessons I guess to get up to the "Green Day" level huh?
lady gaga is nothing compared bozzio!!great years

Can you believe Terry and Dale played with Frank Zappa after listening to this?
Stoppel 4 years ago
they all came from Zappa's lineup. Don't ask me why but i actually loved this lp when it came out.
danelectroman70 4 years ago
Hey. Warren Cucurrulo and Patrick O`hearn played with Zappa. And cute little Terry but Dale made a guest appearance on a coupla of recordings.
winstonschwarz 4 years ago
Are you kidding? Terry played with Zappa for like 7 years.
thecelebrated 4 years ago
Sorry. Excuse my grammar. Must`ve been . Of course that cute little drummer played for Frank. Whoring himself out to Korn recently.
winstonschwarz 4 years ago
No, it was three years. He joined Zappa sometime around may 1975, and left during the first half of 1978.

i know i mich rather like now when all radio and music is done with a computer and a rapper. back in the 80s people new how to play there music and they had differenmt personalitys i like how everything is easy and safe and no one trys anything new. its so safe and nice and rap hmmmm yea there are some real musicions in rap today which meens there are real musicions on the radio. so glad the 80s are over it was all about trying new things yuk. like same and safe.

MP's classic New Wave 80's look,Dale's eeks and squeeks, Terry's and band's energy!!:}

The US Festival only lasted 2 years '82-'83. 82 was a 3 day event on Labor Day Weekend. 83 was 4 days on Memorial Day weekend. Yes both Berlin and Missing Persons played on Monday in 83

warren and terry from zappa's band to this? lol ......... ok..
timmo1782 4 years ago
I love this band. Terry Bozzio influenced my drumming, what a pioneer of drumming and of reinventing the drum set every few years. Patrick O'Hearn went on to do new age music. His best new age CD is "Rivers gonna rise". Dale sure has a hot body in this video!!!! I wish I could've been at the US festival to see them. Way ahead of their time. Love it!!!!

No Doubt you can see where that no talent ass Gwen Stefani stole her stage persona from.
generatrix999 4 years ago
I also see Dale and automatically think that Gwen must've been heavily influenced by her. Though, I do like Gwen and think she adds her own spin to the look and sound.
(nice play with your first two words, gener)

demarcos69 4 years ago
Omg, Terry Bozzio is one of the best drummers ever.. Missing Persons was a VERY tight band . No band has ever come close to their unique sound... I almost got to see them live in 1983 but My mom said I was too young . But in 1997 I finally saw them , different line up though, No Terry Or Warren or Patrick & etc, only Dale.. Good show either way, but I still would of loved to see them from this 1983 era because I'm a Warren & Terry fan.
