you can, but you need to place a second soldier after the first enemy.

that´s what he does! After placing the thief you have 7 gil and when you kill the first enemy you got 8 and can buy the second soldier! he does it in a really fast time so it´s difficult to see but it works!

hey baconater you can get pass wave 2 without losing a crysltal it doesnt show it but during wava two he put another soldier rite after killing the first creatture of the wava he put it right above the other soldoer so its really hard to see i hope this helps =P -EKONFLYN

You're not alone. Tons of them got past me on wave 2. I even tried upgrading to soldier 2 instead of getting a thief and some still got past.
