Heard Goodyear tonight perform Gershwin's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. While this piece is not, in my estimation, high among Gershwin's compositions, Goodyear's performance certainly raised it up to the realm of the sublime.
I saw him perform last night, and I just about fainted from his talent. Not ONLY that, but he seemed like an intelligent, well spoken, generally nice guy.
His version of Rhapsody in Blue that he played with the Sarasota Orchestra can not be paralleled with any recording I have heard thus far. A phenomenal musician!
Yes agreed!! I saw him with the Sarasota Orchestra as well, playing Rhapsody in Blue. He brought the house down. I was hoping to find that here. Agree about Rachmaninoff's Paganini as well, even though it was not my favorite.
Wow, bravo, bravo! I heard Stewart last evening with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. His performance of Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini' was fiery, yet with control. I wanted to check the Steinway afterwards to make sure that no strings were broke!
My piano academy has master classes and brought Mr.Goodyear in to teach a couple of kids. I was one and it changed my perspective on piano. He was a very, very good teacher for the 45 minutes he spent with me.
holy shit.

I'm seeing him perform it live next week Saturday, I wonder if he'll do the same interpretation.
How did he do it?
