In order to dispel an odd internet controversy about Gary Kurtz being a Mormon I am going to advise any with a question about this to use Google & type in the words "Gary Kurtz religion" this will give a list of websites dedicated to giving information about the religious affiliation of film directors & movie producers & so forth. Hopefully this will put an end to the odd disagreement on a simple and obvious fact. Gary Kurtz is Mormon. One of the websites even gives a detailed magazine article.

Orrin Hatch was at my ward last week. I wish his politics were as good as this Hanukkah song. His talk at Church was the same one he gave over 20 years ago. At least his music is original and fresh. I hope he retires from Government and writes songs like this... for two reasons, if you know what I mean. It shouldn't surprise anyone that Hatch is cool with Jews. Gary Kurtz a Mormon hired Kasdan, a Jew, to write Star Wars. This is typical of Mormon Jew interaction. Most don't notice. Some do.

I work in the emergency departments of several hospitals, I see what kind of health care system the USA has, try talking to some physicians. It is no accident that Senator Hatch knows a lot about Jewish customs and traditions. His religious faith understands well the covenant G-d made with Abraham and recognizes as an everlasting covenant just as G-d said it would be. Jews need to remember, however that this covenant was made to the entire House of Israel, not only the Jews. This is a terrific song, love the lyrics and the melody. I believe Senator Hatch used to be one of a quartet of bipartisan senators who sang accapella. He definitely has musical talent. Writing a song for a holiday that no one can even agree how to spell is no easy feat.
