  • Thanks for the headsup, i was looking to buy this. But now im not so sure.

  • i bought them without research what an idiot am i

  • I just wanted to thank you for doing this review and am sorry to hear this didn't live up to expectations. Thanks to you I decided to go with the more expensive but superior XIM3 setup.

  • Total crap on BF3 on the PS3, what a waste of money.

  • I use the Frag FX for Uncharted 2 and MW3

  • This junk for $80? No thanks!

  • @dauransx Realize most people here aren't kids.

  • I agree with this I play on pc and ps3 with the shark as long u are stationary and shoot at long range it will work fine. Where it mess up is at those odd angels for you to have chance at a kill. You have to quickly lift your mouse once or twice which is difficult and u might be lucky and get the kill. Staircasing is real I just avoid diagonals and instead move or drop shot because its hard too do a diagonal it can be done but its a pain you must constantly adjust unlike a mouse.

  • same thing happened to me. Such a scam

  • Worst controllers ever, i got one myself. Fucking retarded...

  • @Enski94 Why is it that bad?

  • @Mr0Beast It isnt working smoothly, the sensitivity thing is retarded. They do not feel good in your hands, and the button layout sucks donkeytesticles. They are really light weight and feel very cheap. Also the buttons on the mouse doesnt click like a regular mouse, which sucks. You have to press them pretty far down before they react, fucking retarded controllers...

  • @Enski94 I don't agree with this comment. I thought the Shark felt great and the button quality was excellent. My only beef was with sensitivity and lack of smooth diagonal movement.

  • Alright news is out...Go check out the legit fragfx shark CEO's opinion...It was finally released the perfect adjustment for MW3 fragfx shark PS3 version.

    Sensitivity ingame- 7

    dead-zone - middle of 5 and 6 but a tip closer to the 5

  • @lJagoVsFulgorel Sorry dude but I imagine that you have never used the fragFX shark...I have videos from "Stevy" from TEK9...tutorial videos that need to be BOUGHT and are not free and that's the secret..using w,a,d,s on the opposite way of using the mouse.

You probably don't use it because maybe your not on the high level of knowing how to control a FPS game..I've been playing since cod2 and I barely knew in black ops about the w,a,d,s...trust me it takes years of practice for perfection.

  • i to watch reviews on games an controllers but these days there alot of fan boys an liers so i just buy th shit my self an test it out if its ass return it but i think the micro aimming is great

  • That's nice to hear TurboNeon185:)

There are definitely differences between the XBOX and PS3. When I had mine, it was only available for PS3.

I did indeed spend tons of time troubleshooting the mouse and tried every adjustment in combination with every other. Again, it has a ton to do with how fast you can make the sensitivity on the game itself - folks on Modern Warfare could get a smooth experience when they set their sensitivity in-game to "insane" and the dial on the Frag FX to 1.

  • @stubbornpuppet23 Problem is, that every game required the dial to be set all the way down and the in-game all the way up (at least on PS3) to be able to turn at any reasonable speed. If you adjusted them the opposite way, you could get smooth movement, but it took 4 or more complete swipes on an oversized mouse pad to make a 360 turn.

Again, I didn't hate this controller, I liked every aspect of it except the slow rate of turn and staircasing... and the 4 weeks it took for them on my return.

  • I wonder if you're using the FragFX Shark. This review was only for the Frag FX Shark and it's supposedly new for 2011 according to Splitfish. I suppose they could have made changes to their architecture since you bought yours and I know that Sony made changes to the PS3 firmware that crapped them up a bit more. Like I said, I wanted to love this controller and it has a lot going for it... it's just too slow to turn and too sketchy from one game to the next.

  • @stubbornpuppet23 i just got mine and it's great. granted, it's for xbox and like you said it could be that splitfish could have made changes to improve it. perhaps you didn't take enough time to dial in the dead zone. it's very important to have it JUST right. and i mean even having the setting on the top of a number or the bottom can make a huge difference. had i come across your review first i may have missed out on what i already consider one of my best gaming investments.

  • Although this contoller is not perfect by any means. I've been using Splitfish's mouse controller for the PS3 for a few years and every FPS I've played worked great with it. I've played Half-Life 2, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, Battlefield 1943, and Battlefield Bad Company 2. They all worked just fine. I started out with the very first wired version, and now I have the wireless version. Been using that ever since and it's worked beautifully.

  • Dude...Seriously????

All you guys are being too playstationy about this..

    THIS IS A MOUSE!!

no the same as a controller of playstation 3

Modern Warfare 3 trust me = sensitivity ingame8-10

and dead-zone is 5 or right infront of the 5

    The MAIN THING ABOUT THIS..

When you are aiming, You need to be using the analog...in PC the players are using WDA in the keyboard while aiming..be using the analog when aiming and this aiming will be perfect..

I have been using it for more than a year trust me

  • I would also recommend setting the sensitivity between 2 and 4 depending of what game you play, for me it works just great, or said in another way, playing with the Shark compared to a regular ps3 controller is just so much better, even when not having 100%free jerkiness/staircasing.

  • And using a good gaming mousepad is recommended, it will deffently improve,if you do have some problems. Also i would say that personally i don't mind that there are a bid of diagonal staircasing in some games, as long as the movement left-right, up-down is smooth, specially when in First person view(aiming down the sight) and for me that has worked great on all games so far...

  • Well for me the Shark has bin working great, i do get some diagonal staircasing in some of the games i play, but its not even close to be as bad as you show in this video, and it is true it works best with CoD, but i used it in MAG,Socom 4,killzone3 beta,Killzone 2,Homefront,and atm i use it in BF3 and MW3 and it works just fine, i love it and its the best mouse+fragchuck controllers i have used so far, i tried the Tuact aimon ps aswell and i don't like that one.

  • Playing Skyrim at the Moment with a FragFX Shark on PS3. My Settings are: Full Sensitivity movement in Skyrim, 2-3 on FragFX. Works really good. Diagonal movements are better than on this game but not perfect. The overall movement is more precise if you throw away the joke of a mousepad that comes with the FragFX Shark. I bought a Roccat Alumic for it and enjoying it very much to play with that setup.

  • sorry dude, but with correct settings the FragFX works just perfect. No matter what u do it works smooth... I would advice you to read the manual 1st and look up the setting ingame and on the chuck before posting videos like this...

  • @QuentinRademakerNL "OK dude". I DID read the manual and I DID go to the SplitFish website to follow all of their FAQ's and tutorials on setting it up. You might even notice the part of my video where I displayed my settings. It works good on a few games, like Call of Duty series... but is pure crap on most others. Nice try at bad publicity recovery though. Perhaps SplitFish could try perfecting their product and releasing a new model that does a better job of emulating the stick movement.

  • @QuentinRademakerNL

Another SplitFish employee? You have a video of the FragFX on your channel but disabled comments and ratings?? Hmmm, I wonder why that could be....

  • wow thanks for this review i was about to buy 1 :O i wont buy it now xD thanks again

  • I have one of the fragFX v2 the build quality is soo bad and it was so fucking expensiv. The only way u can use this controller is if you put the sensitivity on the controller all the way down to 1-2 and then you need to put the sensitivity in the ingame settings on high. You can get acceptable results in some games. I guess it would be unaccetable for most people but I am used to low sensitivity so I can manage. It is not accurate at all and you cannot compare this to a mouse whatsoever.

  • Damn! to late for me! I just bought this damn thing!

  • I actually did notice and mention that in the video. I had to pick up the mouse 4 times to make a full turn unless I set it so sensitive that no functional precision was possible. I think diagonal movement would be incredibly important on any game where you have to aim...

I wouldn't say it doesn't 'work', just that it is not a suitable facsimilie of a mouse and, in most cases, will cripple your experience. Still better off with the PS3 controller for now.

  • I think you didn't mention an issue that completely disqualify fragfx - you are unable to make 180 and 360 rotation without waving the mouse over the surface 5 times or more (playing on PS3). You will be killed 10 times during online plays before you look behind. I've test it on Resistance 3 demo, Borderlands, Uncharted 2. Diagonal movement is in this case not so important and this controler for me is totally not working with most of the PS3 games.

  • what game is that?

  • Very cool news stewartcjones.

What games are you playing with it?

I'm still not against the idea of this product... just want it to work properly with every FPS, not just COD games.

  • well just too let everyone know, i bought one of these things today, and then seen this video,

but my fragfx shark is fine no diagonal no square movements works fine could just be I've got one thas ok ????

  • Hey Stubborn, did you try the XIM 3? I've been playing with my XIM 3 for 2 weeks now, and I'm loving it. Just thought I'd share this with you :)

  • thx for a great and helpful vid!

  • Splitfish strikes me as a sham of a company. All of the fake reviews that the post are reason enough to avoid them like the plague.

  • Strange. I've been rocking Black Ops since I bought the Shark last Saturday. Will try to simulate the staircasing. Haven't noticed it though.

  • @Sausbert : Indeed, it does seem that the COD MW,MW2 and BO games play better with the FragFX than others. So, if all you play is BO, this is an OK controller. If you're like me and want to play other FPS titles like Crysis2, MAG, Portal 2 and so on... you'll have no fun at all.

Glad it works for you, because, like I said, "other than the issue with sluggish sensitivity and no diagonal movement, the controller is pretty awesome." Remember, new games are killing mouse controls in the program.

  • @stubbornpuppet23 could be becuase cod games run at 60fps

  • Thank you for this video.....i almost got this until i saw your video. i have google this product to death and have found fake reviews like u said. Thanks

  • I fell for the fake reviews, didn't find any real ones and i made my buy. The product is a shame, really didn't think any company would do a thing like that, it's incredible how much energy and time they put in to fake marketing instead of just making the product better. Amazing! DO NOT BUY!! You've been warned =)

  • splitfish is in switzerland of course the mail back is fucking expensive :-(

  • Don't buy this useless crap. Portal2, Homefront, Mass Effect2 and other new shooters don't work with it. Splitfish support took one month to tell me what I have already read on their homepage. Great, I can read by myself, but it doesn't work anyhow. I made a video to show you how this product "works" have fun!

  • awesome review keep up the good work :D

  • just buy a gaming PC?..... :S

  • @xb4b1x And what is to do, if you don't have 1000 spare dollars?

  • @xb4b1x This is cheaper? -.-

  • the shark sucks :/ the best version was the one with the SMALLER chuck instead of that stupidly oversized chuck :/

  • I'm also starting to dislike this controler. I've got no problems with staircasing tho, or maybe I haven't notice. I saw square drawing instead of circle and what's even worse for me, is the sensitivity of the mouse. Even at in game to 100% and wheel on Frag chuck to 1, movement of the mouse required to look around is way to big. I can barely perform 360° while staying on the mousepad. Looking around is a pain for me as I don't like lifting mouse over and over again. I'm not ironing, I'm gaming!

  • @peyj245 Well i would also recommend setting the sensitivity between 2 and 4 depending of what game you play, for me it works just great, or said in another way, playing with the Shark compared to a regular ps3 controller is just so much better, even when not having 100%free jerkiness/staircasing...

  • thanks for the review

  • It took over 3 weeks for SplitFish in Vancouver to tell me that they received my Shark back in the mail. Despite my video and being a bit of a jerk to them about the long delay, they have just refunded my purchase and initial shipping charge. I thank them for that and told them that, "If you get the diagonal movement and sluggish sensitivity issues resolved, I will buy this controller again."

  • Thank you very much, I have made my mind about this product based on your review. I`m not buying it :D

  • Sorry for you bad experience, I have given up on the thought of a mouse working on console games. The only game that naturally takes mouse n keyboard is Unreal Tourn. which is still a lil laggy.
