@TheMorur The model itself is available at hobby shops and online (Google "Minicraft Titanic") but you'll need to modify it extensively to sink it. See our "how to" videos for more.
@sk8rdude2992 Check out the website in the video description for much more info on this model; it took a lot of work and patience, but really anyone can do it. :)
i wish i could have a titanic model... then I WILL MAKE IT BRITANNIC WITH THE COLOR AND I WILL MAKE ALSO THE 'WATERTIGHT' COMPARTMENTS. AND I WILL MAKE A HUGE HOLE ON THE HULL AND I WISH THE RESULT IS.....Dipping the bow a little and rolling at the starboard side
Lol I remember watching your other model titanic vids a few years ago XD. I was like "WHERE DID HE GET THAT MODEL?!?! I REALLY WANT IT!" I did end up getting a Titanic model, but not as good and detailed like this one.
I'm glad I don't have a Titanic Model. I'd spend all day in my pond playing with it and sinking it! LOL. Btw how are you filming in the water in this? The water looks freezing!!!!
@Sebi19959 The flooding rate does increase dramatically (and the sinking rate too) once the bridge goes under and water is entering the hull from many more openings.
@DevilsH0b0 Very glad to have you on-board! We've filmed several Titanic videos since we shot this one, including some Titanic break-up videos; check them out on our Channel Page!
@Touchmaster123 We film at higher speeds now so we can slow down the playback rate to create the illusion of a slower sinking. This model already takes about three minutes to sink; not many people want to watch a longer video than that.
That's interesting the way the stern rears up out of the water on the final plunge. Did you split the inside of the hull into compartments to get it to do that or did you put ballast at the front?
@tutankahmun We specifically designed this model to sink this way, using interior compartmentalization and buoyancy adjustments to the stern. For a full description of those modifications, check out the website we linked to in the video description. The stern really bobs out of the water (after full submergence) on one of our new Model Titanic Splits videos, as well.
@jacker372 As @cowboysfan1ism says, we're working on a splitting Titanic model right now. Follow our website (check the video description) and follow us on Facebook for updates on our progress!
This is very nice. I would just love to do something like this but, unfortunately i live nowhere near a source of water and im only 12. I think I'll stick to model rockets instead =)
@LordZeppelin98 Whatever works for you! We love doing rockets, too, but don't have a field big enough for anything but LPR because there's *too much* water around. :)
@eric080532@trizan123 We purchase them from many sources, such as local hobby shops, department stores like Toys R Us, WalMart, and Michaels, and also from internet dealers. Be advised that you will need to modify your model to make it sink (or even float) properly. These model kits are meant for display only.
@CarlosJoseMunez88 Thanks - we were very lucky on this day. That shoot location isn't always available to us, but we hope to use it again! It's also featured in our airboat video (from the beach side).
@ReptigloRand The easiest way to do it is to gradually add weight to the model in a bathtub. The weight must be situated low in the hull (adding weight to the upper decks will only result in capsizing). When you've added enough weight and distributed it evenly along the hull, secure the weight to the model with waterproof caulk or adhesive.
Hey Rapid, you've helped me out with a lot of stuff! I need some help with sinking my model. I tried the weight, using calculation and rulers, but she keeps capsizing and sinking by the stern. How can I secure the weight, because I tried usng tape, but when the tape gets wet, it becomes useless.
@starwarsfandude We'd recommend securing the weight with a waterproof caulk of some type, like the kind used to seal bathtubs. You can find it at most hardware stores.
@RandomDominoGuy@crazykid9919 Just Google "minicraft Titanic" and search the Shopping results. But you'll have to modify it heavily when building it in order to make it sink properly. See our website in the video description for more details.
I bet you would shit green if the line you use to get it back snapped as she went down :) Nice model buddy I am building one out of old trailer under pinning
@Rapidnadion Oh ok, I was about to say...you guys are insane, but it's creative. I got one more question. Where can I get a model like this without the gaping whole in the side of her.
@Rapidnadion If you do it, extend the funnels to the bottom of the ship, so that if water gets into the boiler rooms, the steam develops...that is realistic as steam of the incoming water hitting the burning coal gets out of the funnels....still there would be the problem of smoke, not just steam, to get out of them :D
@starwarsfandude Sometimes, yes. We get pretty good vertical hang-time, but there are earlier bits we like to slow down so you can still see what's happening.
@Rapidnadion Yeah I can understand that. There's usually a 5% chance that a model sinks like it did in real life if you set it up correct. Ether that or it's luck.
@nygisgod It's such a great camera, for what it does. We need to get a different waterproof capsule, though, as the original one gives us focus problems underwater. Still a great device.
And the Titanic just keeps on sinking..
NoobSnoopy 5 days ago
