@1vaguy The way man-made legislation is written emergency vehicles responding to emergency situations can essentially ignore traffic statutes. The cops in this vid were not responding to an emergency. An ambulance responding to a potentially fatal incident would be.

That said, I'd much prefer these services and the road itself by provided not at the barrel of a gun. Then the property owner could stipulate the behavior - including parking - that could occur. Google "voluntaryism" for more.

(cop car parked in restricted area) Anyone smart enough to write should be smart enough to see a bigger picture. The police state takeover is like a cancer. Sometimes it is subtle, and causes little attention. Other times it is on a rampage, leaving nothing in it's wake. A cop car illegally parked; a man beaten, in a coma, and dying by LEO(s) hands. What's the big deal?

Or shoot someone who's handcuffed on the ground? Because all those things happen now. That's why I seek to hold them accountable for every iteration in which they exhibit a double-standard. If we don't do so for the most-trivial things (like parking) where does it stop?

This video is important, I can't tell you how many times, I've been driving and had to perform evasive manuevers becuase a copcar was parked illegally, blocking traffic, sticking out in a lane, parked illegally, etc. We need to move towards principles and accountability. Even if you have a badge, you're still a person and you need to be held to the same standards as all of us. Thanks to all officers who do respect that the laws apply to them as well.

If you haven't noticed by now, the cops job is NOT to stop crime or "serve and protect". They're here to harass and oppress the citizenry roadblocks, speed traps, and enforcement of traffic bylaws.

btw cops ARE civilians. Civil means non-military. When I was in school we were taught that civilian meant anyone not in the military. That definition got changed about 15 years ago and it's dangerous. It implies that cops are over us, military in some capacity, and not there to preserve the peace.

I've never tried to become law enforcement and I agree with this video, as do many who view it. Your attack against this video is an 'ad hominem', where you disparage the messenger so that you do not have to address the point being made.

Address the point: Do police have more rights than other citizens, outside of their ordinary duties?

I and others believe they think they do. They believe they are above the law, because the 'brotherhood' will protect them.

To answer your question, NO police officers do not have more rights than other citizens. Now, here is one more thing that you and others need to consider. Have you ever done a ride along with an officer to find out why they do the things they do? It's not always as cut and dry as the public or "citizens" think it is. I'm not saying there are no bad cops that don't abuse there rights and authority, there are. But to attack every officer you see is wrong, you are judging them without evidence.

I'm not attacking any officer, just speaking the truth. I have a client who is a retired IRS agent (carried a badge and gun). He carries his badge in his wallet. When he gets stopped for speeding, he opens his wallet and the officer sees who he is. He has never gotten a ticket. This client is a good friend of mine, but he does have rights I do not.

Three cops don't just pick a spot on a street to park, and stop and talk. They were likely just finishing a call. It could have been a DOA that had been rotting for weeks, and they are just relaxing for a minute, and someone has to give them a hard time about where they parked. But...you really don't know, do you ?

I've read some of the police reports from the areas where you video and well I feel like yeah they can have a pass for parking illegally on an empty street. But again I'm speaking as a clear "mental defective" on the basis of myself being a user of an illegal substance (marijuana). But if you see them oh... using a clearly unjustified amount of force, by all means feel free to tape it.

Most calls to the police are too late. If you don't defend yourself, the police will arrive in time to record the crime scene.

Not all police are bad guys. However, more and more of them are becoming thugs who believe they are above the law. These are the police who this video is about.
