Yes, they got time to deal with prickfucks like you and no parking zones...this cop was prolly a decent cop and now has a chip on his shoulder...i prolly got an extra parking ticket for asshats like you.
One day when you call the police and those guys respond perhaps you will be a little more grateful. Also, many officers don't have business cards because the agency doesn't provide them. Get over yourself. If you knew half the stuff we dealt with on a daily basis you would show a little more respect.
@DominicanOps What the hell is this grateful crap? If I drive a taxi and deliver a person where the want to go, they do NOT have to be grateful! just pay me! This is my job! I have family in law enforcement. They say the job usually is boring. Being a cop is a matter of choice. They are paid for by taxpayers money. It is a JOB. If I install stop signs on streets, don't be grateful!! Just STOP at the damn thing. When you see it, I already got paid for it being there.

@1vaguy The way man-made legislation is written emergency vehicles responding to emergency situations can essentially ignore traffic statutes. The cops in this vid were not responding to an emergency. An ambulance responding to a potentially fatal incident would be.
That said, I'd much prefer these services and the road itself by provided not at the barrel of a gun. Then the property owner could stipulate the behavior - including parking - that could occur. Google "voluntaryism" for more.
@PeteEyre It must be difficult; when you are trying to make a difference, and then have someone comment "what's the big deal?" (cop car parked in restricted area) Anyone smart enough to write should be smart enough to see a bigger picture. The police state takeover is like a cancer. Sometimes it is subtle, and causes little attention. Other times it is on a rampage, leaving nothing in it's wake. A cop car illegally parked; a man beaten, in a coma, and dying by LEO(s) hands. What's the big deal?

@HeLlOWKiTtY121799 Where do you personally draw the line? When you see someone with a badge get a meal for free? How about when they beat someone up? Or rape someone in their custody? Or shoot someone who's handcuffed on the ground? Because all those things happen now. That's why I seek to hold them accountable for every iteration in which they exhibit a double-standard. If we don't do so for the most-trivial things (like parking) where does it stop?
@HeLlOWKiTtY121799 if enough people did that the police would stop feeling above the law and stop abusing their power for their own personal use to abuse people or something as mundane as illegally park.
@HeLlOWKiTtY121799 ur a dip stick it goes to she how crocked cops really are and what our tax dollers pay for and how they think they have more right because they have a badge when they have as much rights as we do without a badge untill a law is broken then it gives them more athourity over only the person that broke the law.

Another comment by @Navvet82 (which they later deleted) told me that "It's people like YOU that create the "us vs. them" mentality that sometimes exists in the law enforcement community." My response:
The "us vs. them" mentality I hope to get ppl thinking about how each of us subsist - through voluntary, wealth-creating, moral means or through theft and coercion. Anyone who takes a check from the State (politicians, bureaucrats, cops, military, etc.) fall into the latter. Google voluntaryism

@Navvet82 I take my safety as my responsibility. I don't believe it moral that money is stolen from others to pay for cops under the auspices of protecting me. And sure, at some point I may want to have others come to my aid but I'm advocating for the provision of law enforcement to be provided via the market like any other good or service. For more on this go to Google books, find Rothbard's "For a New Liberty" and scroll down to pg 267 (I'd have included the URL but YouTube prevents hyperlinks
@PeteEyre You know, all people do is complain and moan about cops stopping them for no reason, about some BS. So what do you do...go up and stick a camera in their face...nickel and diming them about where a car is parked. It's people like YOU that create the "us vs. them" mentality that sometimes exists in the law enforcement community. At any rate...they'd still haul ass to go help you if you were in trouble...thats the difference between you and them.
Here I have a great idea. They're not bothering anyone to just have a chat somewhere. I would think you'd have more to fill your day with than harassing them for whatever small transgression real or imagined. Feel free to videotape an accidental shooting or excessive use of force. Hell the Chinese guy looks like he just woke up... I guess. I dunno anyway let them do their thing.
This video is important, I can't tell you how many times, I've been driving and had to perform evasive manuevers becuase a copcar was parked illegally, blocking traffic, sticking out in a lane, parked illegally, etc. We need to move towards principles and accountability. Even if you have a badge, you're still a person and you need to be held to the same standards as all of us. Thanks to all officers who do respect that the laws apply to them as well.
If you haven't noticed by now, the cops job is NOT to stop crime or "serve and protect". They're here to harass and oppress the citizenry roadblocks, speed traps, and enforcement of traffic bylaws.
btw cops ARE civilians. Civil means non-military. When I was in school we were taught that civilian meant anyone not in the military. That definition got changed about 15 years ago and it's dangerous. It implies that cops are over us, military in some capacity, and not there to preserve the peace.
Don't you have anything better to do? Don't answer that, it's not a question! From what I've seen, it's obvious you have tried to become a police officer in the past & just couldn't cut it! So you choose to harass those who did make! Remember all these video's you've posted the next time you call for police services, regardless of what they maybe. And don't complain when their response time is longer than normal because they're trying to find a "lawful" place to park, you reap what you sow!
I've never tried to become law enforcement and I agree with this video, as do many who view it. Your attack against this video is an 'ad hominem', where you disparage the messenger so that you do not have to address the point being made.
Address the point: Do police have more rights than other citizens, outside of their ordinary duties?
I and others believe they think they do. They believe they are above the law, because the 'brotherhood' will protect them.
To answer your question, NO police officers do not have more rights than other citizens. Now, here is one more thing that you and others need to consider. Have you ever done a ride along with an officer to find out why they do the things they do? It's not always as cut and dry as the public or "citizens" think it is. I'm not saying there are no bad cops that don't abuse there rights and authority, there are. But to attack every officer you see is wrong, you are judging them without evidence.
I'm not attacking any officer, just speaking the truth. I have a client who is a retired IRS agent (carried a badge and gun). He carries his badge in his wallet. When he gets stopped for speeding, he opens his wallet and the officer sees who he is. He has never gotten a ticket. This client is a good friend of mine, but he does have rights I do not.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
When you are getting your ass kicked, and call 911 for help, make sure you remind the officers to park in a legal parking space (and feed the meter) before coming to save you.
These guys with badges swore that they'll abide by the same man-made legislation as everyone else when they're not at or responding to an emergency situation. Clearly their actions in this video don't fall under those auspices.
But it sounds like you're willing to grant them a pass. At what subjective point then do you say "enough?" What if that point differs from what I or someone else thinks is enough?
Re: your question - I believe in individual freedom and responsibility.
Three cops don't just pick a spot on a street to park, and stop and talk. They were likely just finishing a call. It could have been a DOA that had been rotting for weeks, and they are just relaxing for a minute, and someone has to give them a hard time about where they parked. But...you really don't know, do you ?
Actually after our conversation I proceeded as planned to a nearby CVS to get a few things and when checking out guess who walked in? The younger, silent cop featured on this video. To do some of his own shopping.
What other professions do you approach and criticize ? Do you approach tow-truck drivers and hassle them when they are on the side of the road ? What about snow-plow drivers when they are waiting ? Probably not.
You are just some nut who feels better about himself by approaching cops (with a camera) and showing off so he can feel like a Youtube big shot.
Watching an epsode of "COPS" doesn't make you an expert any more than watching "ER" makes me a doctor.
Pete...get a life. Simple as that. Go find a girlfriend, or get a hobby. Anything. Because when someone is breaking into your home at 2am, it's going to be THEM that come and help...and when they run to their car to help you...IT NEEDS TO BE AVAILABLE. Get a life.
@dcinffxva True, we don't know. But I would be willing to bet that the sign and the law establishing the no parking zones don't have a "police officer relaxing for a minute" exemption.
So any person who had a tough time should be able to do the same right? Pick a spot, stop, consult and relax. So it isn't the law that counts, but the circumstances that count. That is good to know. I wouldn't want the appearance of 'above the law' to be conveyed.
Please, at what point do we recognize there are two standards: one for us and one for them. Pretending or making excuses just doesn't fool anyone anymore.
@PeteEyre Fair enough, but my feeling with these sort of things is very basic. I've read some of the police reports from the areas where you video and well I feel like yeah they can have a pass for parking illegally on an empty street. But again I'm speaking as a clear "mental defective" on the basis of myself being a user of an illegal substance (marijuana). But if you see them oh... using a clearly unjustified amount of force, by all means feel free to tape it.
Who do you call when it's the police kicking your ass just because they don't like your attitude? I've never been arrested, but I have witnessed abuse in the past.
Most calls to the police are too late. If you don't defend yourself, the police will arrive in time to record the crime scene.
Not all police are bad guys. However, more and more of them are becoming thugs who believe they are above the law. These are the police who this video is about.
@doverlin there are good cops and bad cops. Just like there are people who do stupid stuff to get the crap kicked out of them, and people who don't do stupid stuff and still get the crap kicked out of them.
Keep on keeping on. Wish more people had your ambition and courage.

@doverlin there are good cops and bad cops. Just like there are people who do stupid stuff to get the crap kicked out of them, and people who don't do stupid stuff and still get the crap kicked out of them.
My advice? Follow the rules.

The cop who was coughing a lot - did he have a cigarette at about the :30 mark and toss it on the ground?

@SaintSixtus even if he had a cigarette I don't see what it would matter. All the better if it's a joint so I don't get bothered about that.

@SaintSixtus Yes, try littering like that in front of the same cop and you would get a ticket...
