Yea seein alot of people commenting on why I didnt go to the emergency room right away. 1st off Im not stupid, I had been dealing with infection on and off for months. I did it myself because of the pressure and pain and because I was at home on leave away from Walter Reed, going to local hospital would have been a nightmare, and was returning to WR the next day anyway. Nothing I did affected the infection in any way. They could have tried again, but it wasnt worth it, leg was worthless anyway.

Anyone calling you stupid for waiting to treat your infection have no idea of how much more you know about life and what's important - they are speaking out their ass and showing their stupidity. My prayers are that you have great doctors for rehab and as little pain as possible (and good pain meds for when you do!). You are loved and blessed.

Sorry about your leg. The damn place over there isn't worth a toenail; much less a leg. At least it's a 100% VA pension, and you get that regardless of how much you can earn doing anything else. It's not enough, I know. Glad you have a great attitude toward it all. I didn't, and still don't.

Went Snowboarding in Lake Tahoe last week, and while its slow going, within a year I think I will be as good at it as I was before the accident and may try to compete in the adaptive division next year. I am in DC right now trying to get a running leg, so I may finally be running again by the end of the month. Yes we were playing Mario Bros lol. Thanks for the well wishes, it gets better everyday.

Thank you for your service. I'm sorry that you lost your leg, especially since it was long after the blast when you probably assumed the worst was over. Please be careful, bone infection can recur. My father's leg is fused at the knee, and his got infected repeatedly. He can never get a fake knee because the infection thinned the bones (they would split like thin wood if the docs tried to put one in.) Best of luck to you. Make sure you get all the benefits you're entitled to!

Im doing well.. leg came off in February... started wearing a prosthetic in May. I am on my second leg and socket and have been walking without canes for a week now. Probably be another 3-6 months before I can run again, but I will eventually. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sorry to hear you will be losing your leg. I hope that in the time since the posting of this video your condition has improved. I have lived with my amputation though for my entire life and while it is hard at times dont worry, you will, after some extensive recovery time, be able to operate and function with the best of them. Just remember you most definately need long term therapy, both physical and psycological.

Thanks for tha support. The leg came off about a month after this video. I've been doing alot better since, still got a stitch line that is healing. But in less than a month I should be getting my first prosthetic, it was below the knee so I'll be able to get back to doing most of the things I used too... like snowboarding and running.

Yea? Whos that? While I'm here I'll give ya'll an update. Went Snowboarding in Lake Tahoe last week, and while its slow going, within a year I think I will be as good at it as I was before the accident and may try to compete in the adaptive division next year. I am in DC right now trying to get a running leg, so I may finally be running again by the end of the month. Yes we were playing Mario Bros lol. Thanks for the well wishes, it gets better everyday.

Thank you for your service. I'm sorry that you lost your leg, especially since it was long after the blast when you probably assumed the worst was over. Please be careful, bone infection can recur. My father's leg is fused at the knee, and his got infected repeatedly. He can never get a fake knee because the infection thinned the bones (they would split like thin wood if the docs tried to put one in.) Best of luck to you. Make sure you get all the benefits you're entitled to!

Sorry to hear that you have lost your lower leg. Busted my leg up to but not as bad as yours I have a tri malleolar fractures. Sorry to say but your biggest battle is yet to come. Im doing well.. leg came off in February... started wearing a prosthetic in May. I am on my second leg and socket and have been walking without canes for a week now. Probably be another 3-6 months before I can run again, but I will eventually. Thanks for all the well wishes.

Sorry to hear you will be losing your leg. I hope that in the time since the posting of this video your condition has improved. I have lived with my amputation though for my entire life and while it is hard at times dont worry, you will, after some extensive recovery time, be able to operate and function with the best of them. Just remember you most definately need long term therapy, both physical and psycological.

Either you are interested in medicine, or you had a lot of good drugs. ;P I am sorry your leg was not able to be saved, but I get the feeling that you know you are more than just a collection of limbs and blood vessels. I still had to do my job. There are a hundered sides to every story, and the majority of the people I met in Afghanistan 5 years ago still wanted us there, not so much anymore, but if we leave... al queda will just get stronger again and have an open area for recruiting and planning attacks. not that it doesnt happen anyway, but at least now they have to hide to do it..

Thanks for tha support. The leg came off about a month after this video. I've been doing alot better since, still got a stitch line that is healing. But in less than a month I should be getting my first prosthetic, it was below the knee so I'll be able to get back to doing most of the things I used too... like snowboarding and running.
