White tigers do not exist in Nature, The white color comes togheter with a deleterium gene in tigers, this pretty rare gene isn't dominant and only show itself in strong inbreeding between hybrids offsprings of 2 different tigers species, bad formated aninals are discarted with euthanasia and good ones are sold for a lot of money.
Commonly White tigers have sight problems when they're not completly blind.

most of the animals in the shows are captive bred and can't survive on their own. As long as the animal is well taken care of then I don't see the problem with them being in captivity
